Sorry...but just because these guys have a job that the entire world should love to have....does not mean they should not be able to do things with their friends. They are young men and should be able to go out and have a little fun just like every other young man does. They really do not have to be shut ins. It is the Don Cherry that should be shut in like this Bettman that attacked Milan.

I mean come on....if you had a high profile job how the hell would you feel if you had to stay in and did not get to have any darn fun with the $ you were making. Jealousy out there from idiots is not bloody fair.
It's not about "fair" batdad, it's about sense and reality. Should it be that way? No. There shouldn't be starving kids and people killing babies either. The world is rarely "fair".

As you said, he was at a bar owned by one of his friends.... and this STILL happened. That's just the reality: this stuff can happen.

Use good judgement and sense. While its great Lucic didn't bite on the bait the guy gave him, things would have been even better if the incident hadn't happened at all.

Sorry.....not going to work. The should not have to alter their life because of Don Cherry. And if you think they should, or anyone else thinks they should....then they are caving to the Don Cherry, which is pathetic since they should be put in their place.

People should not have to. Period. Looch used as much sense as he could with an Bettman following him and hitting him both inside and outside....he did not beat the living Adam Oates out of the Bettman. I say good on him for that. Others would have.

The incident is going to happen, for sure...because too many entitled mother McDavid-ing little prick kids out there who have not been raised to respect others. Not because Milan Lucic is a hockey player.PERIOD. NOT BECAUSE MILAN SHOULD KNOW BETTER TO HIDE OUT AND NOT DO THINGS WITH HIS FRIENDS.

It is a societal issue, not a celebrity issue. People are raising their kids to think they can do whatever the Lindros they want. And those pansy ass little fuckers are doing whatever they want and think they should be able to get away with it.

And if you think that this is even REMOTELY the fault of Milan Lucic...hanging out with his friends minding his own business....

I am very proud of how Looch handled it. If it had been just about anyone else his age....little Zidlicky would have had the rubbish beat out of him.

/lots of archi little new phrases to cover words. I apologize.

Whats also sad about this is that it's probably 1/100th or 1% of the people/fans in Van(BC) who are the idiots. Problem it only takes one to give a (_ fill in the Blank) country, province, city, team etc a bad name. What happened after game 7 in 2011 is that as well. Too my knowledge it was pre-meditiated by thugs and a bunch of stoopids tagged along in the mob mentality. To see the stupidity, just read the comments by supposed hockey fans on TSN, NHL.com or any other poorly moderated sites. Sure am glad this site has mostly sensible people posting. :-D

After the Bruins training Lucic got interviewed and he clearly said that it was pathetic and that he will never go back to Vcr downtown. That's probably the best thing he can do.

Maybe but it sucks that he should have to limit himself in his home town. No way no how should he have to, and I would hope that he does not follow through on that.

Again though batdad, it's not about "should". It's about the reality.

If you know something bad could/is going to happen, and you do it anyways because you theoretically "shouldn't" have to worry about it.... I'm sorry but you're doing something dumb. "I know I shouldn't have to lock my doors in a perfect, Utopian society, so I won't. Wait, I got robbed, they took everything? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?!"

The argument you're making about society is a different one entirely I'm afraid. This is foremost just about using good sense. And yes, part of his celebrity means he has to think and worry about these things more than most. That's part of the trade-off. What if he'd gotten injured and had to miss games? He's done his team a disservice then. They aren't paying him millions to go get injured in a bar fight, and whether he incites it or not the outcome and result would still be the same.

Again, whether or not you or I think it SHOULD be this way is completely irrelevant, reality doesn't care what we "think". It just is that way.

Totally inapplicable example. Security of the home, vs out having fun and doing stuff with friends as a celebrity. Totally not comparable situations.

I mean really why in the name of god should anyone not be allowed to do something that is normal and fun just because they are a well known personality. Why should they have to stop themselves.

It is about using good sense you are right....but good sense on the part of the idiot that was bugging Milan, not the celeb of the day in question in this case. Milan showed good sense...he tried to walk away.

What should be happening in the world is totally releveant because my fiend you as a possible, or already parent are the only type of person who can make that difference. By teaching your kids the right darn things to do. So they do not grow up in to the entitled morons we are seeing today. Or would you like that to continue and get worse? It seems you might.....

Sure, Milan could and maybe should have chosen not to do something...but why in god>s name should he have to make that choice...absolutely should not have to. He should be able to go out and do stuff EXACTLY like you or I do. (Obviously in more expensive places) without the fear of some jackass ruining his night.

You are saying he SHOULD (to use your capitalization of the word) make a decision not to do something because of other idiots out there. Sorry....not the way things should work in life. And if you think it is the way it works and SHOULD work....wow. too bad. Society has gone further into the laughable.

The problem is there. You're in your hometown and decide to go take a beer, that's it. How in the world could you think that some morons will show up and harass you because you play hockey and that he doesn't like you? Those guys should not spent their entire career asking themselves 1000 questions before going out because they're not in the city they are playing. That's totally ridiculous.

I might as well not go working tomorrow because I could have a deadly car accident , maybe I could bleed to death because I cut myself with a sharp knife or maybe a customer will enter the store and start shooting at me. (I don't live in the US so there's a small chance that it could happen though)

The stupidity I just said is not at the same level as what happened to Lucic but there's a small similarity. You shouldn't restrict yourself in life because of "If".

Did anyone see the news about Patrick Cote? He's played in the NHL for a bit. He got busted for 2 bank robberies and is going away for 30 months. I guess back in 2002 he was busted with 30 lbs of pot in his car too.

I remember Cote from his time with the Michigan K-Wings in the old IHL. He always seemed like a goon that should have tried harder to be Darren McCarty type that could also play, but he seemed too wrapped up in the fighting and PIM to. I looked up his stats on hockeydb and see that one year he did have 14 Goals with the K-Wings but... he was never going to be confused with either Kevin Evans or Link Gaetz. Or Tyler Willis for that matter. Just never could wrap his mind around the right role.

Andre Deveaux, who currently plays for Rögle BK in HockeyAllsvenskan but has played for Toronto and NYR in the NHL, attacked a player in Västerås IK on the warmup for a game last thursday.

He played that game because no one of the referees saw the attack and he also played the game that promoted Rögle BK to SHL.

That's just crazy... His contract was terminated after this incident, good thing.

I read somewhere that Rögle managment asked him to put Helmersson out of the line-up to increase their promotion chances. Any swedish readers who could confirm this?

I'm really curious about what happened before this slash. It's just doesn't make sense :thdn:

There is another video where you see him talking to an assistant coach right before he goes at Helmersson.

Hum, ugly story. It seems that they shared their stupidity on this action. I hope Helmersson is okay.

Helmersson is fine
Deveaux probably has a concussion from behing hit from behind by Helmersson the game before. Silly him played anyway
