Seidenberg rocks on a one year deal and in the last year of a long term deal. He has never proven to be consistently good yet. we shall see. I like him too, but I am thinking this might be a silly deal.

Well from what I've seen he's now got 3-4 very solid NHL seasons under his belt...two of which were on one year deals or during the last year of a contract...so you might be onto something, maybe. Hopefully not. I guess it can't get any worse than a Wideman-Hunwick pairing.

That pairing alone costs 11.5+ million... To put that into perspective, Keith and Seabs make less than that.

It'll be sad to see Blake leave the league... though a huge sigh of relief on the Sharks' cap roll.

Massage therapist of Phoenix Coyotes, Jukka Nieminen, died. He was 37-year old and he would have wedding on Saturday (i'm not sure does that mean this day or next weeks Saturday). He had common-law wife and two daughters.
Nieminen worked 16 years with Phoenix and he was in Salt Lake City with Team Finland.

That's been known about for over a week. He's going to take a lot of flack for that, people will begin to call him the most overrated player blah blah blah, naff leader blah blah blah...

It was bound to happen. Kabs is probably gone. I kinda want to see what Burkie can fetch for him.

Agreed. I'd love to see him moved at the deadline. He'll fetch a 1st rounder I'm sure.

Very much looking forward to the offseason festivities. While I don't expect a revolutionary change by Burke, I am excited for the future. I know many Leafs fans will be upset or cry foul if we don't sign a Kovalchuk or trade Kaberle for a top pick and a 40 point winger, but the important thing is to build a successful hockey club in an intelligent fashion.
And before anyone can say, I already know that doing so usually involves draft picks!

OOOOO...you got lucky, I'm reading along, prepping my saucy reply and then BOOM. Totally defused the argument I was going to make about the Leafs getting decent anytime soon.

Well played, sir.
Anyway, yes, Burkie needs a pickie.

HAHA what can I say? I've been in my fair share of discussions. "First round pick" is the new "1967" these days. Time will tell if the gamble paid off, as I am certain that Burke had confidence (Read: lack of vision) to expect a middle of the pack finish in the standings. But these days, teams build success through the draft. If not Burke, who is no slouch when it comes to drafting, then I am sure that idiot Peddie would rather not wait for draft picks to prosper.

Burke is pretty good at drafting. I'm sure he'll construct a nice trade somewhere within the time span of the top 10 picks (not saying he'll GET a top 10 pick, but trade within the time frame of the top 10 picks).

Capitals announce that they won't resign Morrison, Corvo and Walker, anyway they don't need them.
Weight will probably play another season in the NHL, he's suppose to sign a one year deal real soon.

To add to Phil's statement, Max Afinogenov has rejected a 1 yr deal from Atlanta.

Not only that, but its because he wants more than a 1 year deal. Job security. It's what NHLers want these days.

Looking over the UFA's, trying to decide who's going to be the first to sign one of those awesome twelve year deals.

Since the regular season is long over, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. We've got new threads for both the draft and off-season activity.
