EHM The Blue Line

Since the Apr 22 update I can't even start the game. I get the error "Unable to initialise the sound - please ensure that DirectX has been installed correctly" when I try to play in Steam. The game played fine before the update and I have not changed anything on my PC so there's no reason I should be having problems with DirectX. Running DXDIAG confirms everything is fine there and I can play every other game, so it is specific to EHM EA.

Anyone know how to fix this or am I going to be unable to play for the foreseeable future?

I have a strange little bug regarding Brandon Pirri, I can't find him on my roster, he is in my depth chart, my team report, I can search for him and find him, I can shop him around but he just doesn't appear on my roster at all. It is a strange little bug, not a game breaker as I can trade him even though I had plans for him to be in my team. Any ideas on what I can do? or what causes it?

Is he loaned back to junior or another team?

No, he is still on my roster and in my line up. He just doesn't show up when I look at my dressed players and roster.

I recall a similar bug when I first started experimenting with my EHM 2007 editor a few years back. There is a table within the database/saved game which tracks the rosters for each team. If this table isn't updated when a player's contract details are updated, he appears contracted to the team but is not listed on the roster. This sounds very similar - I wonder if the game isn't updating the table for some reason.

I found Pirri!, it is a new tab, injured players are now in the unavailable tab when you filter the players on the roster

I've got the same problem as Jabroni Slayr where when I load the game it gives me the message "Unable to initialise the sound - please ensure that DirectX has been installed succesfully"

I used the debug too and nothing is working, while the game was working fine before the update

If someone know to fix this, please help

Not sure if this is a bug. But in first two NHL drafts at least (that is as far as I have got) there are 22 and 23 year old players eligible for the draft. Not sure this should be the case.

They should be free agents after 20 years old I do believe. Or last year of Junior eligibility.

yeah exactly what I was thinking. And do you see this happening in your games too? I suppose technically someone could still draft them? I know in junior sometimes you can draft guys who are a little older just to get them on your rights list.

It should be 20 for north americans and 22 for europeans. September 15th is the cutoff date I think

I also just got this issue as well.

my problem is.
my players not evolve further.
I have player the have 2-4 Season the same strenght?
Thats not possible, how i can improve my player?

Just did latest update and loaded my Flames saved game.

After a week of sim, the game fired my Head Coach, I have no budget, no salaries for players and when I offer a new coach a deal - it's $0/yr?????

EDIT: HC is still fired, but the settings of the game had reverted back to pounds. Once I changed it to US$, it worked again.

For those who got the "Unable to initialise the sound - please ensure that DirectX has been installed correctly" issue, I've got the solution and haven't faced any bugs with it.

Go to the Eastside hockey manager folder which is in the steamapps folder. Right Click on EHM.exe and go to proprieties. Open the Compatibility tab and check the "Execute with a screen resolution of 640x480" or whatever it says in English (Cause mine is in French). It worked for me just fine and if you get the 0 finance bug, just go to preferences and click on reset.

No idea if this is a bug or not, but at least it doesnt warrant a new thread.

I am currently in November 2015 and trying to renew the contract of players which expire after the season and none of them are interested in renewing (and they are happy etc). Is this realistic?

Go ahead and offer them contracts. Your own players might sign even if they say the don't feel like negotiating during the season

YEah it is really neither. It is just the players waiting to decide whether they want to re sign or not. Some will for good $, and some will not. More often than not I can get them to reup.

Last season i couldnt sign Hartikainen, but apparently Lugano did!?

Now it is the same with Ullström. Skellefteå and other SHL-teams are offering him contracts but for me it is impossible.

Check the "Information" tab. His rights might belong to a different team in your league

Are you looking for them in 2014 or later? My understanding is players won't show in the game until they're 14 years old

Yes, that is what I meant. So it is intended then.

Yes, it is intended that players don't appear in the game until 14 years old.

In EHM07 players who were younger than 14 at start-up would suffer from abnormal growth/development (both height/weight and Attributes).
Now such players will be hidden and essentially "frozen" until they turn 14, and then they'll appear in game and develop normally.
