Batdad wonderfully reflects what I tend to offer friends/co-workers as my personal motto:

"I will not be held accountable for being too real"

Recent deal I made before the deadline in 08-09

Radim Vrbata (who had near 100 points for me last year), Leino (can't figure out his best role) and the rights to Aaron Marvin (who looks to be pretty solid, but a few years away)

FOR
Derek Roy
Jason Pominville

Both were doing 3rd/4th line duty for Buffalo. I plopped both on my 2nd line with Eric Fehr and let them go. Both have reupped for 2 more years after this one at less than 1 mill per. I used Pominville on my top line for Ladd and his first game he got a hat trick. Course playing with Staal and Hossa will do that to a guy. :-)

I got Roy to play well for me too in a second line capacity, but he became too expensive after awhile - therefore making him expendable.

Doan trade

The Toronto Maple Leafs gave up: Jeff O'neill and Darcy Tucker

FOR

Shane Doan of the Phoenix Coyotes!

Funny thing about this trade is my board was so angry about it when it happened but it ended up that Doan had a 100 points season and Tucked and O neil both were under 50 points!

not awesome trades but they worked for me.

To Islanders:
Brian Campbell

To Chicago:
Rights to Jared Spurgeon
Rights to David Ullstrom
2nd round pick in 2007 (TOR)
2nd Round pick in 2008 (NYI)
4th Round Pick in 2007 (NYI)

To Islanders:
Nikolai Khabiboulin (played 21 games before going out 4 months with a UCL tear)

To Chicago:
5th Round Pick in 2007 (NYI)

Taking advantage of the AI is just about needed when your the Islanders, unless you have the patience of Batdad

This is my first major trade. I'm playing as the Rangers, and this was during the first season of the default database.

To Rangers:
Marian Hossa

To Thrashers:
Petr Prucha
Rights to mikko lehtonen
Rights to another forword (forget the name), third line potential
2 4th rounders in 2007 (the other came from chicago)

No, taking advantage of the AI is not needed with the Islanders. Just good strong tactics are. Oh,and Dipietro, Witt, Martinek.....

Ya, see, i'm just a faulty GM, I'm Garth Snow II, I'm still learning, still figuring out tactics, oh and i usually end up with a team of 24 and under, and then a line of old farts. I'm still hanging on in 12th, but still in reach of 8th if I win 16 of my last 17 :-k
I did try and trade away everything for Anthony Stewart, they won't let him go in my game.

Hopefully I can nab 1st overall pick, that will solve a lot.

sorry, was off topic.

Okay, so these trades were made by Pittsburgh (I am NYI) in my Challenge game, but I couldnt believe this.

Code: Select all

To Pittsburgh:
(F) Mike Comrie
(F) Doug Weight

To Islanders:
PIT 1st & 2nd Round Picks 2007.
Now Pit actually approached me about Weight and I just added on Comrie because I noticed they were also looking for LW help. Now the funny part is what Pit did a week later at the trade deadline.

Code: Select all

To Pittsburgh:
(F) Keith Tkachuk

To St. Louis:
PIT 1st & 2nd Round Picks 2008.
PIT 3rd Round Pick 2007.
Next

Code: Select all

To Pittsburgh:
(F) Cory Stillman

To Florida:
(D) Kris Letang
Pittsburgh's Top forwards now look as like:
Sidney Crosby
Evgeni Malkin
Miroslav Satan
Petr Sykora
Jordan Stall
Ruslan Fedotenko
Mike Comrie
Doug Weight
Keith Tkachuk
Cory Stillman

Crazy Offense anyone?

All that offense didnt help. Pittsburgh was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs by Philly.

AvsFan,

You do realize you can only trade a single pick in or out in any season for the challenge.

Including a first, which is a no-no in and of itself.

I decided to play along with the challenge, but with my own modified rules. I moved the Islanders to Kansas City, Florida to Quebec, Phoenix to Winnipeg, Atlanta to Hartford, Tampa Bay to Indianapolis, and Nashville to Hamilton. So after that I just decided to use the essence of the challenge. Hope that helps you guys understand what I did.

Ah, okay. Then we know, but you should have made it clear to us from the beginning. :)

Oh I wished Batdad would be still around in this challenge. I would love to read his reaction to such modifyings! :ha!:

I think he's got some more way to go before he's on that level such is one:
mcgsports wrote:Having a problem when trying to load a game. I haven't renamed a NHL Division but tryed to Northwest to Midwest but didn't like that so Northwest is back.
Now it says can't find Dallas Stars Index but they are really the Hawaii Beachers,Calgary is Portland,Edmonton is Seattle and Alaska is St. Louis my team.
Every Division has 5 teams in it. Orlando was Washington and Cinncinati was Nashville are also new Teams.
Gets to second I. the Game and stops and wants to go back to Windows.

So it all started with this press release that I happened to come across.

Code: Select all

St. Louis on the move?
Sources close to the team are reporting that the Pittsburgh Penguins are looking to land Martin St. Louis from the Indianapolis Lightning.
So what did I do, I made a call to Brian Lawton and asked if they were infact shopping St. Louis around. To my astonishment he said they were, and they were also taking offers on Vinny. He said in general, they were looking for prospects, draft picks and inexpensive young talent.

Well a couple days later this happened.

Code: Select all

To Indianapolis:
(F) Jeff Tambellini ****
(F) Josh Bailey ****
(F) T.J. Hensick ***
Rights to (F) Jason Gregoire ***
Rights to (F) Corey Trivino ***
Rights to (D) Travis Hamonic ****
OTT's 2nd Round Pick 2008
OTT's 3rd Round Pick 2008

To Kansas City:
(F) Vincent Lecavalier ****
(F) Martin St. Louis ****
Jeff Tambellini were consistently healthy scratches under new coach Robbie Ftorek. Obviously Tambellini was highly regarded by Indy. Josh Bailey had made impressive strides over the last year, and I was really interested to see how he would perform, but along with Travis Hamonic, they made up the key prospects in the deal. Jason Gregoire and Corey Trivino were prospects from the old regime, so I felt like I could move them easily.

Now I finally have my KEY players !

In 2008

In 2018 I think in the off season well around the time the trading came back into effect after the postseason I traded:

Alexander Semin (35, Whom I claimed off waivers in '08)

for

Bocek Havel (21, First Line Potential)

and Semin retired in July while Havel is my 3rd line Left Winger.

In 2009:

To Ducks:
1st Round Pick in 2014

To Yotes(ME):
Chris Pronger ****

Now he completes my monster of a core on defense. Nobody will be left standing after having to go through Chara, Pronger, Jovanovski, Petrecki, Hedman and Ehrhoff. I would hate to face that night in, night out. :joy:

Yeah that's an impressive defence, but your salarial cap must be pretty tight with Jovanovski, Pronger and Chara, they all have like 6.5 millions over each..ouch

For the topic, with the Canucks i trade Mitchell and a *** goaltender prospect for Brent Seabrook, not a big deal but i'm satisfied of this one.
