As I wrote already in another thread, I am playing with Stjernen in Norway (started game as unemployed). This kid came out from Comet prior to 2007/2008 season. He is currently ranked #1 for upcoming NHL draft :-D

I'm sick of the default database and am starting to (finally) venture into the Lidas 2.3....anyone know of any good prospects from the start? I've traded for Hodgson but other than that I don't really know of anyone good...:(

Thanks! :D :P

I hope this is the right thread for my question. In the upcoming draft there is a highly skilled winger from Finland. Problem is, he has been absent from practice for quite some time. Has anyone ever had a similar case? Is it worth taking the risk or should I rather not waste a high 1st round pick on him?

What does his Scout Report say? Look at the Report Card area and your scouts will have listed your player's mental characteristics He may have good characteristics like Determined, Aggressive, Realist, or bad characteristics like Slack, Low Determination, and my favorite, Spineless)

This is an example of what I'm talking about: Brandon Francisco

Personally I wouldn't waste my pick on the guy you're describing...

Thanks! He has: casual ambitious, determined, strong character and relaxed. Doesn't sound too bad, does it?

Actually, they don't sound too bad. ;)

Casual and Relaxed are the two mental characteristics that may be a problem, but they're not as bad as Francisco's "Spineless." One of those (Casual/Relaxed) is about the player's professionalism (I'm not sure which one though) and the other may be his Temperament or Sportsmanship.

URGENT HELP NEEDED

I am currently in the playoffs, and i got the yearly messages about prospects that needed to be signed or else i'd lose their rights. Ok, no big deal, i'll just sign them to their ELCs and not even worry about it. My payroll for my team though is restricting me from offering them anything above the minimum salary. Most aren't looking to take that little. I can't sign most of my top end prospects like Hall and Niederreiter because my board won't let me offer them enough money. I tried waving an injured Gaborik. He got claimed, and i tried offering the players again and it didn't help at all. I don't want to lose these guys but i dont know what to do.

NVM. I just took the easy route and used the saved game editor and put the salary cap higher until they accepted the offers they wanted then i put it back afterwards.

I replied to your other post. Your team is a little top-heavy. Even though this is just a game you still need role players: 3rd and 4th line guys.

Oh i know, i just wanted to load up at the deadline to win a cup then just trade all the top players off gradually and let prospects i draft take over. I won the cup, so now my team will come down back to earth. Gaborik, Morrow and one of Thornton or Hossa will be gone as well at the draft for packages of picks/prospects if i can swing good enough deals. I was just obsessive with having to win a championship before i started a rebuild. Thats why i took the sharks

Heres a junior, I'm in second season's start with my Wild game. How can 14-year old have those attributes? The best ranked player for next draft have around 9-10, there was another similar player too.. Seems abit broken but I won't complain as long as I get one of these.

Sorry for doppelposting but somewhy you can't edit after 15 mins, now that I got him scouted he seems to be spineless, but what does it actually describe? That he doesn't go physical at all and is a coward or? (I know what spineless as a term means no need to explain that)

He's probably a regen of a retired player. Sometimes they start out with really nice attributes.

As for spineless, I believe that one refers to his Aggression attribute. One would think that it relates to Bravery but his Bravery attribute is clearly in good shape.

That's my favorite mental attribute! After having a guy with that was spineless, I stay away from it like the plague. I don't care how good their attributes look...

Well how does lack of aggression really affect skillful forward?

Maybe it doesn't? But for me, I don't want a skilled forward with a super-low aggression because he might not be aggressive enough to bring the puck into the zone, past the big defensemen. Even with my skill players, I don't want them timid.

Not sure where to ask my question, but here it goes.

Is all generated young prospects regens, or are there newgens as well? I'm wondering because this french guy is coming up in the next draft (yeah it's in Swedish, but the attributes are in the same order as in the English version). As far as I know there are no good french players except goalie Cristobal Huet, so who is this guy? Newgen or regen, and in case of regen - who?

Well, yeah it does probably affect it exactly like you say, so it indeed does affect his game, how much I should find out.

Which rosters are you using? If you're using the latest version of Lidas Rosters, I believe he made some tweaks/additions so that you'd have the potential of regenning an NHL quality player from some non-hockey powerhouse countries.

Okay. Yeah, I use the latest database from Lidas. So it's a normal regen but with changed nationality?

by bruins72
Sort of. He made some special very random players that would retire quickly and then regen very randomly.

So what is our feeling on 19 yrs old playing in the NHL?

I have 19yr old Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. My scouts are pretty much split on whether he can contribute right now or needs more time at the lower levels.

His attributes are pretty much borderline imho for the NHL when looking at the coaches for his junior team, they are horrible. But his is too young to go to the AHL.

Am I better off leaving him there for 1 more year or bring him up to train with the big club and get some 4th line minutes?

I should add that his current ability is 96 with a potential ability of 176

I would let him finish his career in the OHL. Then play him in the AHL for a year or 2 so he can adapt to the practice regime and the style of game your team plays.
