Sost offer more grip but take more wear. Hard last longer but offer less grip.

Where's Systemfel when I need him in a all-swede team?

I thought I'd post a few tips in this thread as I know there are some people who have never played this before. This is not the only way to do things this is only the way I do it.
Practice & Warmup
Before doing this make sure you are first one in your team to test, if not read the team talk bit below!
This is the most important time for you, more important than both qualifying & race as you have the most control here.
Firstly look at what the weather is like and then pick your tyres. As a general rule of thumb:
Soft - Dry conditions
Hard - Dry Conditions
Intermediate - Light Rain
Wet - Rain
Monsoon - Monsoon conditions.
Then have a look at the engineers advice in another tab/window. Adjust the sliders to an estimate of what you think it might be around(e.g. high suspension mightbe arounf 75ish, I tend not to put them to the extremities right away). Now adjust how risky you want to drive on the slider. If you put it at 100% data colleciton the likelyhood is that you're gonna make a mistake/crash and that will decrease the amount of laps you will have left(it takes time to repair your car) if you put it too low then you won't get enough to data to get as many spot-ons(or close to) as possible. I won't give away my tactic but I did find that 75 was too much for me so lowered it!
Now your ready to do your first test, after this look at any sliders that have estimate changed underneath them, If it says 'decrease setting' then do so and same for 'increase setting', if it says spot on then don't do anything! Once you've changed them once test again and keep on changing them, moving the sliders is pretty much common sense, if it says between 50-100 then it doesn't make sense to change it to 51 etc...
Team Talk
After you've done your laps I suggest going to team talk(located in office--->Team talk) and listing what you've got, e.g
Wings
F:55-75
R:62
etc...
Once you've done this save your setup. This enables your team mate to load your setup. If you are the second one to practice/warmup then load your team mates setup and read the team talk thing he's just posted in another tab/window. Then adjust the setup slightly, e.g.
If he's posted Front Wings between 55-75 and he's left them on 75 then lower them slightly etc...
Then your ready to test, once you've finished post your adjusted settings in the team talk. When you have finished Qualifying then in the warmup keep on adjusting the sliders to get as near to spot on as possible, post them on the team talk and If you're the last one in your team to do the warmup then post on the team talk any ones that aren't spot on and say what they are in between. Then your team mate can load your setup and adjust any that he feels necessary.
Think that's pretty much it, don't forget to adjust your driving style, qualifying strategy and your race strategy to get the most out of your driver!
Also a small hint:
After each race it doesn't return your tyre choice to soft, so if last race was wet then make sure you change them back to whatever is appopriate!
Any questions don't hesitate to ask, hope this helps!

Thanks for that Calv! Minty and I managed to do that ourselves, and it turned out pretty good.
Few questions:
One of the numbers Minty came out with was 'spot-on', but when I tried it, it wasn't spot on. I proceeded to try all the numbers around it, and didn't even get a range for it.
Another time, we had a set narrowed down to a range of 55-59, but I tried all the numbers in the range, and none of them came out to be 'spot-on'.
Why is this?

^ I don't get that either...
Maybe its something to do with the useless engineer...'Just set up everything in the middle-you'll be fine...' *team-mate's car barrel-rolls down the straight in the background*

I'm confident of doing some damage in my restricted v10 engine-enjoy your V8s guys!
By the way, can I promote the motorsport thread now this is kicking off? Flea and I keep it updated with the latest happenings, mostly F1 and Nascar. Following the real thing will help you understand and enjoy this as well. Australia was a cracking GP, and it looks to become an even better competition as we return to the classic Imola in just over a week's time.

Both me and my bro had the same things spot on. Were you using different sets of tyres?

I'm trying to get my brother signed up on TBL too so he can join Toyota.

Hooray we have enough people! I guess it would be asking too much for four more people to fill up the missing spaces in Toro Rosso, Renault, Ferrari and McLaren.

Right, qualifying is calculated based on practice time, plus the strategy that you chose. Good luck everyone!

With the value you have for the experimentation slider it means that not all of the sliders will be updated each go so if Minty has something that's spot on it will be spot on with you as well but it may take a few laps to tell you that!

Right guys- I can manually start the game if you want to. If you think that we could fill up the remaining places then post here. If not then we will get underway anyway. I am on holiday next week, so I will probably miss about four races

Here's an idea for those without teammates:
Get together with someone else who doesn't have a team mate and use the PM function here to send your setups etc...
At the end we can tally up any points ourselves to see who wins the team championships, this'll only work with an even number of people without team mates tho

I think setups are the same for all cars at the same track, I guess we'll find out!!

Guys I don't know what to do- be selfish and prevent myself from missing any races by starting this in a week's time/hope we get a full grid...or start it now and get it underway...?
