It appears from that one screen that all the players in the NHL will be 4 and 5 stars when i think a 4 star player should be a top liner and a 5 a star. 2-3 a depth guy. But with this the overall rating would have to change based on league.
I wouldn't be surprised if the ratings are subject to change before the final version (and I don't think that would surprise you either). As I understand it, the full 1-5 star range is used on a per league basis (because there are five star players in the EIHL, for instance).

Are the stars not used as they are in OOTP where it was down to your head scouts ability?

That is what I have been wondering. I don't recall seeing anything clarifying this in the public FHM Forum (nor in the Beta Forum). If I find out, I'll let you know.

I hope not. I'd much prefer a scouting system like EHM as opposed to OOTP. It's close to a game breaker for me.

heh, well, don't wanna be a prick (shut up batdad) and derail this thread but it's not like much has been going on lately hockey-wise, be it real world or virtual world with the lockout, EA's NHL being the usual casual gamer BS and EHM being pretty much dead for me for almost two years now
this one's looking great though, they should've gotten way more beta testers :** :-p

I really like what I'm seeing here. I was afraid it was going to look really choppy, but I'm loving this.

Finally, some visual proof! Can't wait.

I must say I was hoping for more player attributes than this. But this is a minor issue for this release. I'm very happy to see a hockey sim so close to completion.

I will buy, of course!

Thats just the Player Profile Page with rating-categories (to give you an overview). The game has 7 skills each in Offense, Defense and Physical + 9 skills in Mental + 11 skills in Goalie + 10 hidden skills. Makes a total of 51 primary skills, not counting e.g. positions or different body part proneness.

I just noticed on the OOTP/FHM site there's a new screenshot to drool over...it's It one of FHM's league-edit screens! http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/board/f ... dings.html

I'm guessing Arch is currently asleep, and when he wakes he'll add the screenshot to TBL!

To quote what I said on the News Page: Not only can leagues be edited using the Pre-Game Editor, but they can also be edited on the fly in game. But that's not all; it is also possible to edit player attributes, contracts, league names, league structures, teams, create new teams, edit the playoffs, edit awards... the list goes on. This is only the tip of the iceberg - the database design is extremely flexible and is going to give us a lot of possibilities.

 Do I see a section devoted to actual game rules, like period length and win/loss points?!

 (<-- Happy crying, not sad)

I think it has some historic relevance - but I don't know the story behind it.

You mean the fact that Leafs haven't won the Cup since 1967 or anything else?

This is a fantastic sight.

I still haven't seen anything certain about this, but if promotion/relegation relationships can be added between leagues, I'll be crying of joy too.

Yeah I think it's just that. Somebody referenced Harold Ballard, but I don't know the story. I loaded up the beta and can see that the real name of the setting is "Include money in trades".

This is included in the first version of the game and can be customised via the editor. :-)

'Can Toronto win Championship?' LOL That's awesome!

i do like the option of being able to change the salary cap on your own every year. The league edit screen is awesome and probably has most people on this board salivating...Imagine being able to back to a W-L-T stat line with no shootouts?

My friend, you just made my day :joy:

EDIT: On second sight, there was the promotion/relegation option hidden right in the lower left corner of that screenshot... I totally missed it. Woohoo!
