Then make the changes. Sorry but having a guy on his ELC at 900k like say O'Reilly from last year...have a cap hit of 5 mill because of an extension would wreck the reality of the game for me. In last year db he made 900 so should be 900.
If u would like it with extensions in you can make the changes yourself to your game with the editor.
It's not like it has not been tried. It has we did at one point include the extensions...but the waiver wire went nuts because of cap over runs, internal budget over runs and AI issues.
Give it a try, and if u like it keep it. We have found people did not like it way back when we tried it because it made the game unrealistic for the current season.

Why Bouwmeester, Backes, Karlsson, Bickel and many more are rookies in the season 2013/2014?? It's funny: D

Likely just history not entered, or some little coding that needs to be done. Happens once in awhile.

I too would have thought it would be related to the player career history not being entered. The Player Stats data is updated in the Updater using the career history. So if the career history isn't up to date then the player stats won't be up to date. However, those four players you mention as examples do already have up to date player career histories and player stats...
Their Date of First Pro/NHL Contract settings are also correct in the DB. This makes me wonder whether this is a bug with EHM or with the CSD Patch. It'll be work trying the 2006 Adjusted version of the rosters with the normal 2006 start date to see if those players are still treated as rookies. If they're not, then it'll be a CSD Patch issue.

I seem to recall way back in my old man head.....that there was some setting about season's played or something like that. Maybe that is missing from these four. Wish I could be more useful. darn Memory. Manimal would know more most likely.

That's what I thought too. But the seasons played is part of the stats that are calculated/updated based on the player career histories. They're all up to date from what I could see.

Would that really be so bad? Because currently many of the players who've had recent extensions seem to become FA's in the game, which will lead to totally wrong rosters fast. Personally I'd rather have believable rosters at the expense of a few incorrect cap hits. Of course one might need to make compromises with the cap hits to ensure that teams wouldn't go over the limit.
I add the extensions anyway when I do some database work. The biggest issue with this is that teams over the cap tend to trade away players with large cap hits, so your argument regarding wrong rosters really makes no difference because they will end up that way in either case. I just overlook it for the most part, after all this is a game and you can't control everything all the time. The AI will make dumb moves regardless of what rosters you start with.

I tend to only add the extensions for star players or guys that I know wouldn't leave their current team in real life. Otherwise I will leave it alone and let whatever happen...happen. An example of this was Datsyuk with Detroit. In real life he signed an extension prior to this season. Lucky for me, I decided not to add it in the database and I was rewarded by signing him to an extension with a lower cap hit than his real life extension. So, it is not always worth adding an extension in the database but can be useful sometimes.

THat is your pesonal feeling, and that is fine. Continue to do so in your game. The general consensus around here (partly because of TBL challenges and partly other things) is that we want the game to be accurate at the startup to what the teams are at the start of the season, so we can play it like real life. Sure in subsequent seasons things are not right.
But what we find is people tend not to play any one game for too long (this is a #s thing...not saying noone plays long career games, especially since I do) but for the majority of the people it seems the concern is being right in the first year.
Again..it is a matter of personal preference, and if you and others prefer to have the extensions put in...you can do it yourself using the updater and editor. It is not that hard (apparently...never tried because i do not care either way)

If by "start of the season" you mean early October, then at least some extensions that are missing should be included. One example would be Corey Crawford's, his was signed at the beginning of September. And if the aim is to have the rosters as they were at the start of the season, then why are trades during the season added?

No. Any extension messes up the current season cap hit. So no matter when signed it it cannot be put in for realism of the current season.

Not sure I agree with you here. The AI still will make trades to dump salary, regardless of whether changes are made to the database by adding extensions. The AI will even do this in the original 2006-07 database, so I am not sure I see the point of not adding them beforehand.

Ok, Ok...I know you admin's are going to hate me for this, but I have to ask:
When do you anticipate the 6.2 database update being released? I only ask because I need to determine if there is a reason to start a new career with the 6.1 rosters or just hold off for the time being.
I promise I won't ask again.

To answer you second post: Never. Because some people keep asking and others keep whining, my advice is for Manimal and archi to not bother, and just wait for FHM to come out.
Or perhaps in a day, or perhaps in 3 months. SO if you know people do not want and will not like being asked a question...do you not know the answer and realize there is not a point in asking? Or are you like my son was when he was 2 and one of those people who never stop badgering after being told not to bother? Because those people end up being grounded for the rest of their lives in my house.
oh and by the way..you can disagree with me all you want. The point was not the AI would make a 100 changes regardless of roster and cap and extensions and rubbish. It was I want as close to a real roster for all the teams as possible for as much of that first season as possible. You can have it your way, by making your own database.

You are one grumpy dude. I rarely ask stuff like that because I also find it extremely obnoxious, I just wanted to know if it was worth starting a new career or not. I am pretty sure asking once is not badgering, but each to his own.

Thanks for the short and fast answer Manimal. I will not ask again. Also, thanks for all the hard work on these rosters, I tried doing some for FHM and nearly went crazy. I do tend to mess around a lot with the EHM database, in fact I think I do that more than actually play the game. I started a project a few weeks ago where I was editing the consistency for every player in the 2006-07 unfaked database. I did up to letter "Di" before declaring myself clinically insane. So, thanks for your work on these, I know how time consuming it is.

I am afraid you are mistaken. Reading a tone into my post. Not grumpy at all. Just pointing out you knew the answer to your own question, yet asked it anyway. To me, that is a skill in life to acquire...to know what and when to ask and when not to ask. When you know the answer, why ask? Not grumpy, just a straightforward, factual point.
Anyway...you got the answer from manimal, and he was nice about it as he always (10000 times per month) is. I applaud him for that in addition to his work. Especially since we have posted on this site over and over and over...do not bother asking as it is a work in progress and will be out when it is out. For every db ever done.
Now...if there is something you can contribute to helping the guys with the db, that would be great. Then you could get your hands on the db a bit sooner and then you know...not delay starting your career for an indefinite period. But ...totally up to you. Do nothing, or do something.

Well, I figured the answer would be what it was, but it never hurts to ask. What is the old saying? "If you don't ask you won't get the wrong answer"? No, that's not it. "If you don't ask, they won't tell?" Nope, not that one either. It was something about asking questions and getting an answer...I dunno. What were we talking about again?

You don't know the half of it. I remember when the Red Wings were called the Dead Wings, and it actually meant something. Now, I have to endure so-called Wings fans who call the team the Dead Wings because they "might not' make the playoffs this year.
