In the fantasy league and OOTP Online leagues I used to participate in, the overwhelming majority of people who were involved were fans of MANY sports and many platforms.
I have the numbers right in front of me and the number of users on Steam, that both own OOTP 15 and FHM is way under 10%. ;)
SkierP20 wrote: The discount on OOTP16 is $5.. so that means the retail after the expires will be $39.99. So are you saying that the list price for FHM with the discount is going to be $20 or less? If both games maintain their price point with previous version(s) at ANY point after release (ie someone waits until a first patch comes out to invest in the game) then buying the pair could cost them $70-$80.
Sometimes I have trouble with my limited English. Your wrote $80-$100 and I wanted to say that even if you buy both games full price you look at $80 max and with the pre-order discount for OOTP and the "Thank you" discount you can get both games together for less then $80 on and/or around release day. If you want to wait for e.g. feedback first before buying OOTP and/or FHM then maybe one (or both) games go on a sale later. Sorry for the confusion.

All that I'm saying is considering that the all time peak for FHM on steam is 76 players and the all-time peak for OOTP15 is 334, I feel like you are looking at a very small sample size of the actual sales. The sales figures might not be public but the active user numbers are pretty easy to find. Unless you are seeing a sizable % of your sales from Steam, then I feel like you might be underestimating the number of people who own both especially if you are using that as your primary means of evaluation.

We are surprised as well but no matter what numbers we look at, fact is, FHM and OOTP have not a very large shared user base. My best guess is somewhere in the 20% - 30% neighborhood.

OOTP and FHM are two very different games; however, I'd bet that number will increase as each iteration of FHM is released.

Not sure about that as FHM will take a slightly different approach then OOTP but we will see. :-)

In my experience in sports sim games sports fans are sports fans. OOTP players will be buying FHM and BTS regardless of the "approach" the game takes. The influence is clear on the boards especially. How many dynasty reports, active or otherwise, involve teams other than NHL teams? The North American influence is there.

I'm from Hamburg, Germany and still play with the Blackhawks in the NHL. It is just the best league in the world. ;)

I've never really been a baseball fan, I actually rarely watch it on TV...yet I've purchased each OOTP since 9 because EHM made me a sports simulation fan. :-D Maybe if the Jays put together a playoff caliber team I'd watch more but that's another story.
