I decided to take the plunge and installed Steam and bought the game. So far I am liking it, although getting used to the items on the screen being opposite from before will take some getting used to.

Steam is both a blessing and a curse. It's good because it's simple to use and easy to buy the games that you want. Also, they're a big company and an industry leader. They're not going anywhere. It's bad because its just far too easy and convenient to buy new games. I've been spending way too much on computer games since getting Steam.

Pelit (Finland's biggest gaming magazine) had a preview of the game in their latest paper edition. I don't think I can legally post it here but overall the preview was positive and also mentioned TBL. ;) The main lack it mentioned was the amount of updates but it also noted that it's an Early Access -game so it's just natural to be in development.

Nice! Could you post a translation of what it said about TBL. I'd be interested to hear! :)

Ok, it goes something like this:

Official vs. unofficial

The official version doesn't yet have real names due to money saving reasons. In the database the teams and players are real but the names are wrong. This causes no problem because up-to-date, fan-updated databases can be found on The Blue Line website (ehmtheblueline.com) which with you can play fully real leagues. All EHM07's databases, graphics and strategies work direct in the new version (of the game, note by ForNever) so the good-old slapshot-strategy is yet again usable with a striving Mestis-team. Old saves do not work after all (as the reviewer didn't even expect according to the choice of words).
...
The balance of the teams are both in the official and Blue Line's databases pretty much where they need to be. Playing with KooKoo I reached the championship on my first season when a couple of trades panned out and I got a few lucky loans from Liiga which raised the team on the renowned Next Level. In Liiga, Kärpät marched to a expected championship while Pelicans finished last.
---
I found the last bit flattering because the reviewer might have used Finnish rosters updated by me considering the only newer rosters available from Finland (by Lazion) are in the Start-of-Season Rosters.
