From what I understand their will be a way to order the game on a CD for a little extra money. However, I'm not sure if you will need a internet connection, in order to register, on the computer you install it on.

You have to buy it via DD before that.
The CD is a backup copy.

Regarding abilities/skills; I'm not sure about to an extent of rebuilding the database but I think they'd talked of more fully taking advantage of the alternate ratings scale/spread. Instead of 1-20 they'd also have 1-99 ratings for players as well as an option. I guess that would help you tell if a guy rated 16 is actually closer to being a 15 or a 17... as he could be a 16.1 or a 16.9 in that range I guess... you can switch to have 2005 display 1-99s by adding a line to your config but they are in the db as 1-20s so I don't think it has much more effect than a different way to display the numbers.
If the new db was recorded with 1-99 ratings instead of 1-20s the 1-99s display would be more specific. I'm not sure if that's going to be the case for 2007 or not though. And that's not me not being able to say either. The database is always one of the last 'pieces' of the game to be added to the test builds so I honestly don't know if such a system will be used this year.

I hope they keep it 1-20, it's easier to tell the difference between 16 and 17 than it is between a 80 and 81, for research purposes. There was a discussion about this with respect to FM and they said they'd never change to 1-99, I hope they have that view with EHM as well
Edit: The first post now has a link to all 8 screenshots

Either way you'd be able to view the game with either style, it's just a matter of how detailed the db is...

Didn't the ratings go 1-99 in the freeware version? I remember being against the change to 1-20 when they were first making the SI version of the game but now that it's been in place for a while, I think it's fine the way it is.
As for the rebuilding the database, I was referring to the structure. For some reason I thought they had mentioned more abilities/skills. I thought a couple were going to be added or maybe taking one ability and splitting it into two. I must be remembering wrong.
I'm very excited about the enhanced trading and tactics. These are things we've been begging for! One of the things I love about these guys is that they listen to the fan community. Even though I wasn't in the "fantasy draft" camp (some people insisted the game was useless without it), I'm interested in trying it out. It could be fun. I think it would be interesting to do a challenge that way (everyone drafting against each other and playing with the teams that they've made) if it could be worked out logistically. I'm also curious to see how they've improved the scouting and drafting.
I can't wait until the Gold Demo comes out! I need to get my hands on this game and try things out!

You can see in the trade screen screenshot the locked in/locked out concept for trades. They actually discussed this one as it was suggested on the SI forums but for those that didn't catch the convo:
You can now lock in a player in an offer so if you offer them John Smith they won't come back with "We'll give you a 4th rounder for the rights to Mark Thompson". Also if Mark Thompson is a guy you consider untouchable you can "lock him out" of your next offer to them and they won't come back with "We'll give you a 4th for the rights to Mark Thompson" when you make your next offer to them to aquire John Smith.

I think i will really like how to trade in NHL EHM 07. Plus the discution whit the other GMs might help a little so it's really good.

Didn't pay attention to that before, but it seems that the colours of the attributes in the player's profile will be the same ones that in the EHM05 basic skin...
I strongly prefer the green-yellow-orange-red system which is used in the skins made by TBL users,it's far more readable!
Just hope SI will change this for the release, even if it's certainly not the most important thing...

The .col remains the same format so if they don't adopt it officially I'll have a replacement file ready for download to give you my green to red system by simply replacing that file

You've got that right! I'm dying to play this. I almost wish I didn't know exactly when it was coming. I haven't been able to play the '05 version since I heard the news!

Thanks a lot!
It's good to see that anyone can always count on you even for such little things

Guys, I am new to this forum and would like to comment on the digital download only for EHM this year. I don't think you should look at previous SI experiences with DD for WSM (which I believe used Digital River last year and is a company that sucks at customer service) or EHM as they have switched to a different company to provide the DD. They are having elicense provide the license for the game and this is great news.
Elicense is the company that has been doing OOTP at least since 2001 and they do a great job. First you get two licenses that can be used on two different computers. If you want to play the game on a third computer you simply go to the elicense folder, right click on the game, and select unlicense. The license is now instantly available to be used on another machine. You do not have to uninstall the game simply leave as is. You can unlicense and license as many times as you like, there are no restrictions other than you can only be licensed on two computers at one time.
If your computer dies it's as simple as using elicense's support form to let them know you lost a license due to computer failure, or whatever, and they will reset the lost license (happened to me about 2 months ago, so I speak from personal experience). This is usually done within hours of contacting them, not days.
I'm not here to argue the pros and cons of DD but only to tell you of my experiences with elicense, which has all been good. Games I have bought and played through elicense...
Out of the Park Baseball - versions 4,5,6,6.5, and 2006(the new SI version)
Front Office Football 2004
Total Pro Basketball 2005
Total Pro Football
Tournament Dreams College Basketball
Fastbreak College Basketball
I have never heard a bad report from anyone dealing with elicense on any of these games forums. Only reports telling of how good elicense was in helping them out with any issues they had.
One drawback is elicense only does PC's and not Macs. So if you are using a Mac I can't comment on how good the DD provider is, sorry.
So take it for what it's worth, it's up to you. But IMHO you are getting the best DD provider bar none and worries over the provider should not stop you from buying the game. Now if you have issues with how to pay for the game that's something different and I'm afraid I can't be of much help since I use my CC.
Cheers,
Sweed

I hope that you could pre-order it soon. So you got it in your mailbox at the release day.

Thanks a lot Sweed for sharing your experience with us.
I strongly believe that all will work well.
I don't worry too much about how to pay for the game... It's SI problem to know how to sell their game well,so there's certainly a possibility for everyone...

not a lot of stuff up atm, but it's going to be updated daily apparently.
They'll be doing blogs(starting with Riz on the 2D games), new screenshots, details on pre-order, profiles and interviews as well as guides to some of the playable leagues.
Currently there's (part 1 of)an interview with riz a short article from Marc Duffy and some info about an 'ask riz a question' thing they'll be running
Also it'll be released at 4pm GMT according to the countdown

Excuse me, I have to go change my shorts after those tactics screens.
Ya alright, those screens sold it, I'm getting that game.

20 days left and you can't preorder the game yet. But you can preorder FM2007 that is released October 20th.

Ahhh... nice; more things I can finally talk about!

Yeah, the new tactics system is badass
I'm not sure why preorder matters in this case usally it's that you'd get the game shipped to you earlier, but it will be available to everyone at the same time so I'm not sure why a pre-order or it's not being available yet matters

Excuse me, I have to go change my shorts after those tactics screens.
Grab me a pair while you're at it.
The new tactical side of the game has me really looking forward to the game. I have always played "GM Only"... but now I think I am gonna have to fire my head coach just so I can do it all.
