I'm approaching October with no job. But I went into it expecting to wait long, so it's not too bad. Only thing I don't like about starting unemployed, though, is that news is so rare. When you're with a team and have news from them, it will be nice not having every worldly detail sent to you... but being unemployed is so quite and inactive, that it feels like you're managing in the 1700's and getting all your mail via a little messenger boy.

I'm gonna take Edmonton to the top
(or at leat try to) with 6 good players out of the team, that should be a challenge

Keep an eye out for pigeons with job offers in little notes tied to their feet

Mid November, but still no job!!!
Well, I think thats about normal....who would want to hire a spanish Ice hockey manager??? Would u???
Just an offtopic (I know this would probably go in the first impressions): I think the game is a bit slow in loading the next day. Ok, I have absolutely every league in enchanced (sp) and I have to admit that right now I dont have lots of space in my hard-disk.....does that have any effect of the loading speed??

I noticed when I installed the game that the Chelmsford Chieftains are in the EPIHL, I played Under-12's for them. That's lined up for the second game I start

So long as there's enough hard disk space to run the game then it'll run at the same speed. It'll be because you have every league set as "enhanced". If you change lots of them down to "standard" then you will notice a great increase in speed. If I remember correctly, in "standard" you will still be able to see the results of games and league standings (as well as having all of the players) whereas "enhanced" actually similuates the games and you can watch the replays - this is what slows it down so much. If you don't watch the replays of games then you may as well switch the leagues down to "standard". You can do this in-game from somewhere in the settings menu (I can't remember where exactly - I think it's something like "league status").

I would like to have update feedback from those who start the game unemployed.
Where the season is right now?
Do you have found a job?
Witch section can you look at?
I will probably start unemployed. And I know than team owners will not fire their GM with only one month from the start of the season... it will wait more longer before that... maybe January or after...
Thanks!

I've started a game with Manchester Phoenix. It's really tough as only have about 17 players (one of which I can't play as I have one too many foreigners on my roster) and I'm only £1k below my salary cap. I've got a couple of injuries too

Iam in December2006 right now and still looking for a job, but right now there where only national teams to coach (US and Canada) and the Toronto Marlies from the AHL...I applied for all them, but as I thought they engaged another manager in all the offers.
Well, as far as I have seen u can look at your menu on the left only (normal, u dont are managing), but u can watch everything when u are browsing around.
I like the game so far (except the rosters and the player attributes)....u have to get used to the new interface, but its nice!!!
Archie: I will do what u said there, I guess its going lots faster (I thought "enchanced" would mean another thing)....so thanks once more, lol!!!

Almost finished with October since I've been busy this morning.
4th in the Eastern Conference with the Hurricanes.
Walker is my leading scorer with 17, 3rd in the NHL.
Staal has 16, 7th in NHL.
Cole has 13, 14th in NHL.
Forget my exact record but I know for a fact I have 3 losses.

Gotta go with the Flames, at least until I get the feel of the game then I may try a junior or European team and try to get to an NHL job before all you good people get the unfaking databases and editors for this version.
Cheers

Good luck dude!
I'm currently GM of Manchester Phoenix. It's a struggle to say the least. I only have 17 players (one of which I can't play because I have one too many foreigners) and I'm right on my wage limit. I'll have to dump a foreigner, I think
I see there's a couple of us giving the Brit Leagues a go. I think we should have our own thread so we can swap stories, etc.

I may start a Brit game soon.
I'm leading the league with the Hurricanes right now, though.

With agresive Trading, I won a stanley cup the first year. Sadly I couldn't re-sign several key players during the off seaqson and only managed to make it to the conference semis in year two.

I started a game with the Habs which is off to a bit of a rough start. I also started a game with the Manchester Phoenix at first just to test new logos but I kinda got hooked on it.
