i was able to make a pretty good deal at the deadline. i wanted to see what i could get for selanne because i was out of the playoff race and he refused to sign a new contract. and i got a pretty good deal.

to toronto: teemu selanne

to anaheim: justin pogge, rights to nikolai kulemin, 2007 first round pick (#7 overall), 2007 second round pick (#37 overall).

pretty sweet deal for a guy that was on he's way to ufa. and the maple leafs started to loose big time after this falling way down to #24 in the whole league giving me two early picks in the first and second round. plus i won the draft lottery giving me the #1 pick aswell.

i traded keith tkachuk plus a 3rd round draft pick for tim connolly and brian campbell. good trade for young guys, and saved like $4 million. then, about a month later, buffalo waived tkachuk...so i picked him up again, thus giving me 2 free players. i then traded tkachuk and a couple rights of players to detroit for pavel datsyuk. so, basicly, i got brian campbell, tim connolly, pavel datsyuk all for tkachuk and a couple euros who wouldnt sign with me. :joy:

JFJ would make this type of deal even if the Leafs were out of playoff contention. The only thing that makes JFJ not the worst GM in the leaque.............."Garth Snow"

Ah yes, the benefits of being a human GM that knows more than the AI Gms do :joy: Nice work.

i found that my top line stuggles to score so i looked for some left wingers

Buffalo: Vanek

Sharks: Stafford,Ferguson,Biron, rights to jeff lawrence

yes thats right i got him for players i couldnt give a stuff about :p even though bufalo used vanek on the 4th line as a centre...weird

and then

Ducks: Bobby Ryan

Sharks: Two 2nd round picks, 3rd round pick

yes thats right again....next to nothing for a future franchise right winger, although hes playin juniors..i cant wait to get him next season haha

oh but theres one more

Senators: Heatley

Sharks: Vanek, Mink and three 4th round picks

yes once again a steal, although heatley just came back from injury so yah my timing was the key to that, and well probably all those deals, as ive tried to get heatley in previous games and they wont listen to anything, same with bobby ryan

but i like vanek so im not sure if i shuld try and trade vanek and there 1st round pikc for heatley or just vanek for heatley? advice please guys?

thanks
Tim

I just made an awesome deal. First I signed St Louis as a free agent. I then realized I was over the cap so I thought of getting rid of Bondra, while superb last season, his stats were declining quite rapidly. :-k I had a look through Tampa's roster and saw they were lacking RW's so I offered Bondra to them. They did not respond to entusiasticly and kept removing him from the trade (they were after Leipstö). I then settled for their 6th Rnd'r and they accepted it.

About a week after the deal was done, Bondra thought he was to old to play professional hockey and retired two days later :joy:

You COULD say that I got St Louis and a 6th Rnd'r for... NOTHING! But thats not fair agaisnt Tampa... Hohoha!

EDIT: I just realized Bondra retired after 1125 games, 549 goals, 450 ass and 9...9...9... points. :-o

I was pretty happy with these:

Chris Therien (who just a couple of weeks before the trade passed waivers) + a 5th-rounder for Shaone Morrisonn.

20-year-old GK prospect Jonathan Bernier (who hasn't progressed an inch in two junior seasons) for rights to 18-year-old Justin Leclaire, the starting goalie for the WJC-winning Canadian U20 team, straight up. Of course, this was a trade with the Islanders, so it feels a bit like picking on the dumbest kid in the class, but still...

And, of course the Canadiens must be pretty happy about fleecing me with Mikhail Grabowsky, who can skate like the wind but can't put points on the board in the NHL.

Im at the beginning of season 08-09. Got Anze kopitar as a Restricted free agent with NO compensation and a 2 year contract of 580 000 $/y. He's 21 year old and have 24 pts in 25 games so far (13g-11a-24pts).

A bit unrealistic that the Kings didnt make a better offer than i did.

I'm playing as the Kings, and I'm in the spring of 2008, so Kopitar still has a season left in his rookie contract. He's definitely the kind of player with whom contract negotiations are of the 'whatever it takes' kind.

That makes me sick. I must have given Philly over 100 different trade options, and they never give Pitkanen up.

Never succeeded in acquiring Pitkanen, both in EHM05 and 07 :dunno:

Great job Batdad! =D>

Yeah, they never ever want to give me Pitkanen either  no matter how much I offer, but it goes to show you that sometimes you are just in the right place with the right offer at the right time :dunno:

My favourite trade I made so far was acquiring Malkin for a first and a second, as well as for two 29 year old "prospects" ... in his first full season for my team, he currently ranks 1st in the league in scoring with 102 points in 72 games :-D

In the beta version, while trying to break the game I pulled off two steals in the space of 24 hours:

- a first round pick for Bouwmeester, Semenov and Olesz
- a first round pick for Betts, Hollweg, Montoya and the rights to Marc Staal

They fixed that particular bug pretty quick :-D

In the release version, my best trade was probably Sergei Gonchar for Nicolai Zherdev.

Ha! Welcome to TBL Caseus =D> Good to see more of the crew coming aboard here at TBL; yeah the Almighty First Rounder bug was good times eh? Ah well...

I posted a screenshot of my beta testing to see how much I could give away for players like Bobby Ryan earlier on where I traded like all my 1st rounders Olesz, Comeau and a handfulof other big prospects for Ryan :-p I rember people saying in '05 ont he SI boards "Hey, if I want to give away half my team for a player I want I should be able to!" so I was testing the theory. :chuckle:

BTW you should post int he arrivals section and say hi

yeah, now I am worried though that somehow the AI knows the Potential Ability to some extent, and in this game Pitkanen comes in on the low level. Although, 1st two games he looks fine. Maybe, people realized at SI how bad Philly is this season. I noticed Bob Clarke is unemployed at the start and his next job is GM of Sweden's National Team. heh. Yeah right.

And welcome to Caseus.

Got Pitkanen in my fantasy draft game, he has played close to 600 games for me so far with and average rating of 8.12 and close to a ppg!. Not bad for a defenseman heh, so really no need to worry.

Maybe overpaid..but 1st season with thw wings got Sid the Kid for Krys kolonos (ppg in AHL), Alex Steen (from toronto for not a lot!), Justin MapleToft (RFA $450k), Rights to Dick Axelsson, 2 seconds and a first.....seeing as I'm detroit with a couple of decent prospects, I figured the 1st wouldn't account to much anyway. Crosby was injured, but only for 3 months, and i didn't lose anything i really need at this stage....7th Jan 2007....

Same Game...John Madden for 2x 7th Rounders....the great NJ salary dump!......Also picked up matvachuck for a 6th..

Also Niitymaki for Osgood and an utterly useless daryll bootland

Also picked up Yared Hagos for a 3rd

Also picked up chris campoli for josh langfeld...which was nice...

Last big pick up was after bobby ryan was traded to the leafs and they had an injury crisis....lilja, norton, a couple of dire prospects and a second did there! good old jfj!

Obviously crosby is the most exciting, but raping and pilliging new jersey was fun too!

darn Islanders won't give up jason blake despite their season dying badly

Thats not a bad deal at all for Crosby.

Yeah NJ is always willing to part with Madden and/or Langenbrunner for cheap to get under the Cap; I gave a 5th for him with my Columbus game but got him for a 7th before as well, their roster/salaries just has them over the barrel and without Lou the Wizard to magically make problems go away like NJ has in real life they are a classic example of what I call Cap Panic :-p

Oh, and yeah I'd pay that for Crosby any day of the week.

a 2 weeks IR Ovechkin for M-A Fleury and 1st pick in 2010...

Niity for Micky Dupont, Maxime Talbot and 7th 2011
a 4month IR Bouwmeester for Thorburn, Melichar, Roy and 2nd 2010
