Salary Cap

Hi!

I was wondering if i could add a salary cap like the one in NHL to a league without a cap, like the Swedish Elite League?

I'm not sure if caps can be added to a league that doesn't already have one, but if it is, the file you would do it with would be the transfer_rules_config.cfg file in your database folder:

C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007\data\database\transfer_rules_config.cfg

I'd say go ahead and add a cap to a league in there, and see what happens.

Well, i've tried to add the cap like this:

"CAP" "National Hockey League" 56800000
"FLOOR" "National Hockey League" 40800000

"CAP" "Swedish Elitserien" 24000000
"FLOOR" "Swedish Elitserien" 14000000

"CAP" "Ligue Nord-Americaine du Hockey" 850000

"CAP" "Russian Superleague" 24000000
"FLOOR" "Russian Superleague" 0

But nothing happened :(

But i can remove the caps for certain leagues :S

Did you start a new game? It may not apply to saved games (that is, if caps can be added in the first place).

Also, maybe try different variations of the league name; Maybe it's looking for a different name. Lidas would be a good one to have answer this - he's probably most familiar with the exact database names of the leagues.

Salaries in affiliate teams

Do they count against the salary cap? What happens if player has a two way contract?

Thanks

p.s. Couldn't find this through search

Yes, they count, full amount.

2-way clause means that player gets less salary (ussually 15%) when playing for farm team. So it affects only your salaries (e.g. outcomes) and not salary cap.

Edit: as you said you searched for it, did you see this http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... salary+cap ? ;)

I was just looking through the official 3.0.2 changelist, and I found an official answer to this one:
Sports Interactive wrote:- Salary cap is now configurable via the config file transfer_rules_config.cfg, in the database folder. Set to values to 0 or remove the entry to remove the cap for competition entirely. Caps cannot be added to leagues that do not already have them.

Salary cap editing question (works in editor not game)

So I took LidasDB 2.3 and edited to my own fancies. Being familiar with the editor, I decided to go "pro-Canadian" and make up my own NHL universe with altered NHL/AHL teams. So I removed most of the southern teams (sorry ) and added in some Canadian cities with teams and such. I also flipped some conferences around and completely changed the teams in the AHL. I added my own logos too since I finally figured out how to do them, it's been really fun (playing as the Toronto St. Patricks :joy: Lidas' game is much more fun than the originaldb).

Anyway, so since I've had time to play this I remember from the past the computer players will sometimes end up letting UFAs go because they don't have the money to sign them. On principal I always set the salary cap and team budgets much higher than they were in game, usually around $68-74 mil and budgets in and around there depending on the team. I always self-restrain my own budget (depending on the team and how hardcore I feel 8-)) so it's not really a problem for me.

The thing I'm having problems with is that in-game, it seems to completely ignore whatever budgets I put in for the teams in the editor. By this I mean, say for the New York Americans I set their budget at 72,000,000 (without the ,'s in the editor obviously). That's all great, but when I start the game, they'll just get some random budget- like 48,000,000. The cap is set fine in the transfer w/e file to 75,000,000, but the game doesnt' seem to want to acknowledge my changes. Has anyone else had this problem, and are there work arounds? It's really not a huge deal, since I just use the save game editor and takes maybe 3 minutes to copy and paste them over- and I don't restart my game once a week so I won't have to deal with it for awhile, but just in testing it was a bit annoying.

Any advice, etc. is helpful.

I had a problem too with the KHL/Russian Superleague teams.

I wanted to give them Russian teams their actual budgets I found a list from the KHL site stating for example AK Kazan's budget was going to be $55million so I changed this on the editor and nothing changed ingame they still had their $14mil or so budget.

While its abit frustrating I dont really mind as EHM is the best game we have, wether its out of date or not :-D

Try to change them in Saved Game Editor.

I can't find transfer_rules_config.cfg beside the base one. Where should it be?

All I see are my saved game files.

You don't need the editor. The salary cap is in the file called transfer_rules_config. Just change it.
If it does not allow you to change it, move the file away from the database-folder. Change it and then move it back

Hi guys! Ive tried to find a solution on my problem everywhere and i cant find it

Im playing as Timrå IK in the swedish hockey league (starting in the lower tier). Been promoted in like 6 years or something. I started with 12m SEK in lower tier. First year in SHL my salary dropped to 9m SEK. And now years after that its raised to 13.47m SEK. Ive made diffrent placements in the league, never won it! But they refuse to give me more money. The rest of teams got between 30-45m SEK. I find this sad since i cant get players i want, i just have to settle with random NA,s and Adam Oates...
