April 1 - Hedman won NHL Best Defensive Player of the Week 2 goals and 4 assists in 3 games. Boucher, Grzelcyk, Gaudette, and Clendening sign new contracts.
April 4 - Barclays Center, Brooklyn, New York TBL 4 NYI 2. We needed a tremendous effort in the third to walk out of New York with a win. Gourde had a goal and as assist, and Savard, Kucherov, and Beaudin had a goal. Teräväinen had 2 assists, Hedman, Karlsson, Pouliot, and Toews had 1 assist. Vasy made 26 saves.
April 6 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida TBL 3 ANA 2 it was a back and forth game and our penalty killing was outstanding going 5 for 6. DeBrincat had 2 goals, and Kucherov had 1, Gourde had 2 assists, Karlsson and Toews had 1. Vasy made 25 saves.
April 8 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida DAL 3 TBL 2, Vasy went on the IR (we recalled Demko who made 27 saves in the loss) and Kozun came off the IR (we sent Beaudin down to Jacksonville). We scored two goal goals in the first 10 minutes and we took our foot off the gas. Killorn had a goal and an assist, and MacKinnon also scored, Sergachev had 2 helpers and Teräväinen had 1.
April 10 - BB&T Center, Sunrise, Florida, TBL 9 FLA 2, a 6 goal second period blew the game wide open as we cruised. Kucherov had two goals and two assists, Toews had 2 goals and an assist, MacKinnon, Point (playing in his 200th career game), and Teräväinen had a goal and a helper, and Killorn and Pouliot also scored, Karlsson, Savard, and Maroon had two assists, and Hedman, Sergachev, Grzelcyk, and Sproul had one, Demko 17 saves, causing us to wonder, who will be the starter for both Tampa and Jacksonville in their first game of the playoffs.
April 14 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida, Game 1 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal TBL 4 MTL 3 (TBL leads series 1-0). We dominated play throughout the game, but Montreal goaltender Antti Raanta was brilliant, stopping 46 shots and almost stole game one. Toews had a goal and an assist, Hedman (GWG), MacKinnon, and DeBrincat also scored, Karlsson had three assists, and Grzelcyk, Pouliot, Kucherov, and Teräväinen had one. Demko made 24 saves.
April 15 - Karlsson named NHL Player and Best Defensive Player of the Week with 5 assists in 2 games. Toews wins NHL Best Offensive Player of the Week with 3 goals and 2 assists in 2 games.
April 16 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida Game 2 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, MTL 3 TBL 2 (series tied 1-1). We spotted Montreal the three-goal lead going into the third period and we just could not recover. Demko got his second straight start of the playoffs and made 26 saves, but we squandered our opportunities. Toews and MacKinnon scored, Hedman, Maroon, Killorn, and Beaudin had assists.
April 18 - Bell Center, Montreal, Quebec, Game 3 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals TBL 8 MTL 2 (TBL leads series 2-1). This was a game that we needed to have and despite trailing in the first four minutes of the game, we ended up scoring eight of the next nine goals to turn the game into a Snoozefest. Point had two goals and an assist, Karlsson and Killorn had a goal and two assists, Pouliot had a goal and an assist, and Grzelcyk, MacKinnon, and Kozun also scored, Hedman, Maroon, and DeBrincat each had two assists, Sergachev, Clendening, Toews, and Teräväinen had one, and Vasy who we recalled from the IR made 21 saves. We sent Demko to Jacksonville for the AHL playoffs. However, Point and Kucherov left the game with injuries, so we’re keeping an eye on them.
April 19 - Kucherov just got a slight knock, no IR trip. Point is out for a week, so we call up Volkov
April 20 - Bell Center, Montreal, Quebec, Game 4 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals TBL 5 MTL 0 (TBL leads series 3-1), this was the Vasy show, with 20 saves and made it look easy. Kucherov had a goal and an assist, and DeBrincat, Toews, Grzelcyk, and Teräväinen also scored. MacKinnon had two assists, and Maroon, Killorn, Savard, Kucherov, Sergachev, and Karlsson all had one.
April 22 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida, Game 5 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal TBL 4 MTL 1 (TBL wins series 4-1). A late first period goal pretty much gave us momentum, and we rode it to the series win. Toews had two goals and an assist, Hedman had a goal and an assist, and Pouliot scored. Maroon had two assists, and Kucherov, DeBrincat, Gourde, and Karlsson had one, while Vasy made 19 saves.
April 29 - Amalie Arena, Tampa, Florida, Game 1 Eastern Conference Semifinals TBL 7 NSH 1. This one was done early as we were up 5-0 after two. Maroon and Kucherov both had two goals and an assist, Toews had a goal and two assists, and MacKinnon and DeBrincat also scored. Hedman, Killorn, and Stamkos all had two assists, and Savard, Sproul, and Kozun had one. Vasy made 22 saves in the win,
