CatchUp: does the second background folder is really not needed? I mean the "comps" one. I thought (but may be wrong), that it was the folder where you should have backgrounds for the league tables (standings, stats, etc).

Well, to be honest - we don't know what you've deleted and changed inside your game directory. The setup I gave above works for me and I made the BG's so I've done a lot of testing this way. It does work. Check to make sure your background files are named properly as well. They should be .jpg with spaces in the file names. ie. Atlanta Thrashers.jpg, Toronto Maple Leafs.jpg, etc, etc.
