Stevie did great after being put with Bergenheim. Ended up with 23 goals. It was also announced today that he's signed a one-year extension with Frölunda. :joy: Couldn't be happier. Well, maybe if Martin Plüss decides to stay. :)

Stevie was also great during his 2 years in SM-Liiga, first in Ilves and then in Blues. No wonder you like him systemfel =)

Oh and, the pity playoffs are over here in Finland, and the winners are Ilves over Lukko and Pelicans over TPS. This means the quarterfinals are following:
Kärpät - Pelicans
Jokerit - Ilves
HPK - HIFK
Tappara - Blues

The games will start tomorrow (thursday), which is great because the wait has been intolerable -_-. HIFK is up against HPK, who won HIFK in the semi-finals in best of 5 series. The series went 3-2 to HPK, the final match ending a 0-1 result in Helsinki to HPK. We had 3 shots or so that hit the post and we were the dominating part of the game, but still HPK managed to win 0-1 with a goal they scored arond 6min into the first period. So yeah, we're willing to beat their asses this time, even though they have the home advantage now.

(Hi! Back from a long wait of not being connected to the internet... well in two weeks at least)

Martin Kariya plays for Blues this season. He's been dynamite, surprised everyone by topping the table . He was not expected to step into Steve's boots, but proved the new rules favour him as well...

Too bad he's going to Zurich Switzerland for the next season... :thdn:

Wow, both Modo and Brynäs won tonight in the SEL playoffs and will now be playing Game 7's against Timrå and HV71, respectively.

Färjestad and Linköping will be facing two tired teams in the semis... :-k

Well, the semi finals are rolling in Sweden.

1st seed Färjestad won game 1 versus 4th seed Linköping (4-3 OT), but Linköping won tonight (3-2 in OT), tying the series at 1-1.

In the other semi final, 3rd seed Modo is squaring off with 2nd seed HV 71. Modo controlled game 1, winning 4-1 and won tonight as well (3-1). Thus, Modo has a commanding 2-0 lead in the series.

Since i've been lazy and disappointed in the results in SM-Liiga playoffs havent really given you any updates. Although this one is short aswel.

Quarters are now over, and the semi final pairs are clear.
Kärpät ran over Pelicans 4-0 and will face Blues, who beat Tappara 4-1
Jokerit ran over Ilves 4-0 and will Face HPK, the team which made my favourite team IFK start their holidays by winning the series 4-1. Sucks.

Oh well, will keep you somewhat informed what'll happen in SM-Liiga playoffs.

Well, my two clubs in the swiss league are doing it pretty good!!!

ZSC Lions, who qualified 8th and last for the playoffs had a great series going ahead 3-1 against first seed Davos....sadly they lost then 3 games in a row to loose the series 3-4.

In the meantime Davos has advanced to the finals after beating Kloten (the club I most hate in this world, after the Habs of course, lol) 4-1 in the semis.
In the finals Davos has to face Bern SC (the club with the highest attendance in Europe) who defeated Servette 4-1 and Zug 4-1.

Finals will begin march 27

My other club: EHC Biel-Bienne has retained his National-Liga B title and will play now against SC Langnau for a spot in the Nati A.

HOPP EHC Biel!!!!

SEL Semi Finals
Färjestad - Linköping: 1-4
HV 71 - Modo | 3-4

So, the top 2 teams in the regular seasons are out and there'll be a final between Modo Hockey and Linköpings HC.

Now this is hockey!!!

Vancouver Giants vs Med Hat Tigers. Game 7 WHL Final. Both teams are going to Memorial Cup, which starts Friday as the Giants are the hosts. The series has been brutal including one player on Med Hat biting Kendal McArdle on the hand. The series has been a war.

And now.... 2 all tie, going to double OT. These teams are beating the rubbish out of each other and playing real hard. All in the Hat's arena. Which apparently does not have the best of venitilation, as it is now a FOG BOWL!

Great hockey, hard hitting end to end action. These kids do not get tired. No matter who wins...they will have a hard time with the Mem Cup vs Lewiston MAINEiacs and Plymouth Whalers. They will be beat up kids.

Hell of a game. Med Hat won 3-2. Not the best goal let in by Sexsmith for the Giants. I stick to my guns on this guy. He will not get the job done in the Memorial Cup. It was a wrist shot from the middle on a 3x2. Although Bosch from Med Hat had Tyson moving and shot the other way...it is a save a Memorial Cup winning goalie will need to be able to make.

Giants will not win the Mem Cup, because Sexsmith is not good enough. Dustin Slade gets the last laugh.

Memorial Cup final is all set. Giants defeat Plymouth Whalers, 8-1 in the Semi. Yes 8 to 1.

Now guess who they play in the final? Yep, Medicine Hat Tigers, the WHL Champs by an incee weencee tiny bit in 7 games, double OT. They played in the Round Robin and Med Hat won 1-0 in a heck of a battle of goaltending. Now SUnday, they play for the 9th time in two or three weeks. Winner takes home Memorial Cup.

Again, I do not think Tyson Sexsmith is quite good enough...so I bet the Tigers win 3 to 2. Should be a heck of a hockey game though.

Giants win Memorial Cup 3-1 over Med Hat Tigers.

And Bruins72--This is for you! Mem Cup MVP...none other than MILAN LUCIC (Lou-chitch)

Lucic was a man on a mission. Especially on one shift with 3 bone crunching hits, and then a scrap. Giants outshoot Med Hat 40-15, holding the Tigers to just TWO shots in the third period. A great performance by a team, in front of an overrated goaltender.

In the future--a name to watch for: Evander Kane. 15 years old, replaced former Don Hay favourite Tim Kraus in the lineup and played very well in the Mem Cup Semi final and final, tallying an assist and throwing hits on the forecheck all over the place in limited ice time.

I read about Lucic winning the MVP on another forum (usenet newsgroup) this morning. Very cool! Some Bruins fans have unreal expectations for the kid, thinking he's going to be the second coming of Neely. Others say they'll be delighted if he's a Knuble type player. I'd be happy if he can be a 3rd or 4th line guy that will bring intensity to the lineup with his physical play, occasional scraps, and pot a goal once in a while.

You are much much more on the mark than anyone expecting this guy to pop 30-50 goals and get 200 pims. Sheesh.
