EHM The Blue Line

Just before entering 2011 draft that seems to be a strong one. . A Czech goalie everybody is talking about is there (Hasek regen,5-11, Acrobatic style, Flair=20,though he has whopping 4 in determination and 10 in work rate ). I have some high draft picks in hand (1st, 2nd, 5th, 9th, 11th, 32th and 36th) and hopefully will be able to grab him as my 9th overall. However, other players to consider are really good young guns according to my scouting reports:
forwads: Z.Goodwin(rank=1), P.Joseph(2), R.Dumont(4), V.Shestakov(5), N.Rask(9), P.Delisle(13), C.Anderson(14),K.Labrecque(16);
defensemen:S.Naslund(6),M.Cross(38),H.Ericsson(30)
goalies: M.Riendeau(8), S.King(28), E.McKeown(26) and, of course, Hasek regen (Filip Strach, ranked 27th)
I am considering Z.Goodwin, R.Dumont ,S.Naslund, F.Strach and N.Rask as my 1st rounders . Just curious how Ken Labreque and Colton Anderson may develop in a couple of years.
Any thoughts?

in my game the hasek regen was taken 4th overall in the 2010 draft, so I think he will be gone when you arrive in 9th overall.

CrockerNHL: If i'm right, those are created/regen players, and so they have names determined randomly. Other users may not know them under the same name They even may not have the same kind of players (exept the Hasek regen, which is a regular one for everyone ).

BTW, do you know if it possible to find out legally who they are? I mean a regen that was created on basic attributes of a former/retired player. Who was that retired player?

It mainly depends on your hockey knowledge I don't think there's a way to know who's the regen of who otherwise

Personnally, i don't mind to know or not if player X is the regen of Y great player... I play it like if he is just a youth player amongst others, nothing more, nothing less. So if my scouts tell great things about him, i may draft him. If not, i won't.

With some observation, you can find out. Usually when the mental attributes are mainly similar, you're in presence of a regen. But you need to write them down and check back and forth..

My Hasek regens have sucked. 4 work rates twice, and a 6 once. Never ever developed past AHL level. Work rate being random of course. Killer of super prospects. I should really update my blog one day...

I honestly don't think I've played a game in EHM 2007 long enough to get the regens. I keep starting new games.

This Tomas Vincour guy must be pretty darn good, the Edmonton Oil Kings took him 1st overall in the CHL import draft, maybe a future first in the NHL? Who knows,

15 goals and 24 assissts, pretty awesome,

he's 1 year ahead of his class, players are supposed to be 17, but hes been allowed coz he is soo good, and only 16

In my game he's going to be a very dominant player, something in type of NJ winger Patrick Elias.

I've just signed 20 y/o Ryan Garlock, who at first sight seems to be a nice future top 2 center and, strangely, he doesn't had NHL right on him.

It is a good signing or not??

Garlock is pretty good. I usually sign him and put him on either my ECHL or AHL affiliate. I've had times when he never really developed and other times where he started looking like he was getting better. My problem is that I never seem to play more than a couple seasons. I think Garlock is a guy that can be pretty good if you take your time developing him.

So that's my kind of player

I signed Garlock onto my CHL (Rage) team and he does well for the first 4 months and then he ends up getting pulled into the NHL. Sometimes he does alright for himself and other times he ends up getting cut and then I resign him again.

Great player with tons of potential, but don't bring him in too early. AHL play is perfect for him at first or atleast from what I have seen in my game.

Has anyone ever drafted Ryan Sparling? He's a center for St John of the QMJHL. I drafted him in the 4th round of the 2007 draft. He's in his final year at St John (he's 20) and he's developing pretty nicely for a 4th rounder. I'm in the 08-09 season right now. In 07-08 he had 96 points in 67 games. In 17 games so far this season he's got 36 points already! His average rating so far this season is 9.24 and he's already won player of the week and player of the month. He collected quite a few trophies in the 07-08 season too. My scouts project him as a 2nd line skilled offensive forward in the mold of Daymond Langkow. Not too shabby for a 4th round pick!

Has anyone drafted him and played the game farther into the future than I have? I'm curious to hear if anyone has had any experiences with him.

I never have drafted that guy myself, but I might look for him when my season comes around to where you are at in your game.

For those of you who are just starting out the game and finish the first season and then enter into the entry draft, try to grab Ryan Wilson. He's a very good defensemen, it only took me a year to build him up to 1st line potential in the NHL.

Right now, he has 40 points in 70 games. Which is funny, because 40 of those points is 12 goals.

Not too bad if I say so myself.

Wilson is good, no doubt.

But is he Chelios?;)

Sorry, I just remembered about that screenshot you were looking for. Of Chelios still playing at 50-something? Did you ever track that one down?

I'm still trying to get a hold of it right now. I haven't been able to go over to the main house and use the computer there because they are doing tons of work with it right now.

Kind of sucks, because it would be nice to grab that and show it to all of you on here.

Anyway, another good pick for me was Dayn Belfour. Which is the son of Ed Belfour. I grabbed him in the last entry draft that I was in, which I believe was 2008.

He's doing pretty good and he looks like he will easily become a good solid backup for Niittymaki.

As for anything else, I don't believe that Wilson is Chelios.

I am guessing, but judging from CatchUp's wink emoticon, he was just wondering if Wilson might play til he was 52 or so. I know he knows Wilson is not Chelios's regen.

anyway, in the games I have been working on for testing for the challenge I have found several decent players that noone would have used.

1. Tim Konsorada..Huge leadership (17), and works awesome on either your 3rd or 4th line, putting up consistent ratings and numbers. A great PK guy.

2. Marc Methot--Solid d-man, can even become a 4th guy (marginal) and puts up consistent 7's...morale never suffers,,,and apparently is capable of winning the Calder Trophy.

3. Mark Flood-Same as Methot basically.

4. Pascale Leclaire--After proper grooming..start as backup, play 35-40 games, and then move him into # 1 role in year 2. IN year 3 this guy begins challenging for the Vezina Trophy. At least in my game. Not B72's though..average at best there.

5. Dan Fritsche--Wow he surprised me

6. Derek Brassard-Slow, but surprises me with his abilities at NHL level. Have used him for 25 games, and he has 21 pts playing on the 3rd line...no pp time. (not with Brule, Connolly, and Handzus ahead of him. This is 2008-09.

I actually traded Fritsche both times I played as Columbus. He didn't seem to be developing on his new team either. It's probably just a random thing though.

Speaking of Columbus players, Hendrikx isn't bad (except he drives me nuts how he spells his name because it always looks wrong to me) for a 5-6 defenseman. I've got him on my team in the 08-09 season. 27 games into the season he's got 10 points, a +11, and a 7.48 Average Rating from playing in the 3rd defense pairing and top PK pairing.

I've got a couple Russian defensemen that Columbus had as unsigned prospects at the start of the game. I signed them and they've been playing in the minors okay. I haven't tried bringing them up yet though, so I can't really give an opinion on them yet.

Totally! I'm thinking, either spell it Hendricks or Hendrix. Don't try combining the two!

He's not a bad young defenseman though. He's worth hanging on to and developing him. IIRC, I brought him up and Flood is still down on the farm.

I don't know if I ever mentioned him here (probably yes, I don't care ), take a look at Ville Leino, Finnish center, around 21 when the game starts, not in the draft, I grabbed him as a free agent, he put up big numbers in Providence for 2 years and will play for the big team next season since I don't have the cap space to re-sign Bates. Good strength and skating ability, brilliant hands and creativity, good defensively and on faceoffs, all in all a player who can play in any situation. Scoring line, checking line, PP, PK.
