Looks like a good place to put this following question...

I'm embarking on the resetting of my computer as well, because it has gotten to the point of being so worn and beat that the simplest of tasks results in a wave of errors from the system. Simply inserting any disc crashes something, leading to missing interface elements, internet text goes haywire, etc.

Anyway, enough of the chit-chat. What I'm currently wondering is, how do I unlicense EHM if my 'eLicense Control' folder in the Control Panel doesn't want to open? I double-click it like normal, and it does nothing. I do right-click>Explore, and it opens the desktop in an explorer window. I also don't have any 'unlicense' option when right-clicking the shortcut, like I remember seeing a while back. :dunno:

Any help's appreciated!

Good news, I managed to get it un-inSTALLed. So, for any of you future beings reading this post many eons from now, here's how I did it:

Apparently, the reason this eLicense folder doesn't open is because of Windows XP. And in This thread, there's a link to This program called ExplorerXP. What it's for, I have no clue, but you can use it to unlicense something if your normal eLicence Control folder doesn't open. Just run ExplorerXP > navigate the the .EXE file for you game(ehm2007.exe, in my case) > then right-click the EXE file, and you'll have an 'eLicense Control' option in the right-click menu. Then simply find 'unlicense' and you're golden.

I've had a few meltdowns(see more then three) since I've owned 07 and I've never actually had the opportunity to unlicense the game, just wiped it clean and re-installed everything and it's always worked the best for me.

New laptop - new game?

I went ahead and merged this onto an existing license topic because it pretty much contained about everything you needed to know. Take a read through this thread.

Thanks. Fingers crossed. Had read this thread but thought everyone was using the same computer as before, not a new one. Wouldve thought they'd make it harder to swith computers to stop people just using other peoples licenses.

Either way, if your computer is wiped out and you have to do a fresh install of Windows, the info for your license isn't going to be there. You're going to have to put your license info in again. You may want to contact eLicense though. They allow you to have the software licensed on 2 computers. Because your old computer was never un-licensed, it's still holding one of those licenses. You may want to contact them about un-licensing your old computer so it isn't eating up a license.

I have a new problem at hand men.. It seems I had accidentally uninstalled eLicence itself.. Now there is no longer a area in control panel to unregister or anything. Is it possible to install it again or anything because I am buying a new computer soon and I would hate to have to buy a new copy or something.

If you took the license off the game on your current computer. Then what you need to do is get your activation code or whatever and do as you did the first time around.

By the way, were you connected to the internet at the time of you taking the license away? The reason I bring that up is because if you are connected, it will take that license and put it back on your account as one that you can use for another time or whatever the case may be at that time.

I dealt with this stuff quite a bit, but now I don't have to cause I got the CD-ROM version of the game.

Anyway, you should be good in most cases if you just get your activation code and register it again.

Anyone had to deal with eLicense solving a problem? I had my HDD die one me so I couldn't uninstall the license. I installed it on my new HDD (I thought it would use the same license since the only thing that changed was the HDD) which used my second install license. I got my new laptop and want to install EHM on it but it won't let me. It's been over a week since I put in the request & explanation to have the 1st license removed and I haven't even got an automated reply. Is this something that takes months?

It took about 2 weeks for me to actually get my response when that happened to me as well.

Apparently I have some problems playing EHM07... though did nothing unusual.
When I click on the EHM icon on my desktop to open up the game, a small window pops up saying:
"Sorry, could not get a license at this time. Please try running this program later.

Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? :dunno: I did as it suggested and
I tried to run it later...it didn't work. :-(
Searched community forums - it's a known problem, no solution : ](*,)

My system: Win XP, EHM upgraded to 3.0.4 ver. long ago.
Any sort of help would be much appreciated :help:

I'm assuming you've rebooted your computer, just in case there was something crashed in the background or something that interfered with the eLicense. I suppose you could try to unlicense and then re-license your copy of EHM. Honestly, this is all just guessing though. Your best bet would be to contact eLicense.

Thanks Bruins72. It took few hours to realize that only re-installing the game from the very beginning may help  Glad to be back! :-)

I ran into this problem as well and if you email the eLicense place. They will send you the download link for a small patch to fix that problem from happening again.

They say it was something that should have been included in the actual game patch, but it wasn't fixed before the last patch was put out for download.

Anyway, I figured I would just let you know that ahead of time.

Thanks, JPoolTX. At least, we know what to do if the problem persists. :-D

No problem and I'll try to find that email that they sent me with the download included.

It's been over a year now since they sent me that email. So I am not even sure if I still have it archived or not.

Yes, you should have an eLicense folder.

...However, I just went into my control panel to Add/Remove Programs, and just for kicks while the list loaded, I looked for my eLicense folder... and I don't seem to have one anymore?

Oh well, as long as my game still runs I'm happy. Heh... It's not like that darn folder ever worked for me anyway.

Sounds like an issue with not unlicensing it first.

If that's the case, you have two options as far as I know: 1. Use the second code you should have. 2. Contact e-License and tell them what happened to your computer; they may give you your first code back(since you really weren't able to do anything beforehand).
