I finished 1st in the Cup race that goes on during the season and won that. Then I finished tied for 1st place in the season overall, but on account of the other team getting to a certain amount of points first, they got the regular season trophy.

Now, I went onto the playoffs and won the league championship as well.

Needless to say, I have to admit that it wasn't easy to build that team up, but if you do it right... you can win anything.
What was your strategy?

When I tried only really rubbish players would sign for wages that would allow me to build a complete team, while average players often wanted what would be 1/3 to 1/2 of my budget.

The biggest thing for me was just going out and grabbing players that were good in certain areas.

Such as having some players that weren't the greatest all around, but were good in scoring, passing, or whatever. You know what I mean?

Plus, I like to always experiment with tactics as well and that may have helped me out.

I also run a very hard practice on all of my players. I tend to do just about the highest training setup that I can on account of trying to get those guys in shape and maybe a little better in those areas that they aren't that good in.

Overall, I think it just takes time and patience to build a good team.

Are there any particularly poor teams I should look out for on EHM 2004?

2004? Yikes! I can't even remember that far back. I don't even think I've still got it installed anywhere.

I think the Pens and the Preds were pretty awful, but then again I haven't played that game for a couple of years...

2004 was sooooo easy to play it was almost boring. You could trade easily for Brad Richards and then have him scoring 120+ points a season, no matter which linemates he played with... Oh man, I love EHM 2007!

Good memory, white knight. I couldn't remember what version of EHM it was but I almost always traded for Richards. Back then he was like M****** is now.

Yeah, Marleau (I think that's what the M followed by six *s means :-p) is way too good on 2007. I never played 2004 (started at 2005), so I can't really help you, but I think in real life at that time the Pens were horrible.

I remember playing Wild in 2004 and it was a nightmare. Same thing with Columbus. Then again I never was any good at trading...

Caps on the other hand is very good in EHM 2004, if I remember correctly. The team you start with isn't much to go on, but they have so much money, you can pretty much sign who ever you want and give them what ever they want.

On my side, it goes pretty well with the wild in 2004. Won the stanley cup in my 3rd season, Roloson win the Vezina and Jennings and with got a blue-collar blue line starring Chris McCallister, Bryan Allen and Jason Doig :p

I was better at 2004 than 2005 and 2007... good old days.

My goalies were always so inconsistant in 2004 and 05: 7-6-8-4-10... etc... ](*,)

Ah well, thank god (SI) for EHM 2007...

This can be late, but try to get Raahe-Kiekko (Finnish Suomi Division) to SM-League. It has lowest budget in Suomi Division.
