I played a little last night and this morning. I'm still 10 days away from training camp. I got my staff situation taken care of. Good old Robbie Ftorek was brought in to coach like he is on just about every team I take control of that has a bad coach. I also cleaned house on assistants, several scouts, and I replaced all of the trainers. It's just shameful for an NHL team to have trainers that don't have a 20 in Physical Therapy.

I've got my core figured out for the most part. Of course, I'll wait until after training camp to announce them. I want to give myself the flexibility just in case things don't work out the way I'd like once trading starts. The team I has right now really needs help on the left side, both the wing and defense. That's where I'll be targeting my trading focus.

One thing I've really tried to do here is keep my under 23 players down on the farm team (or their junior squad). I usually like to play a very young lineup but with this being a long term challenge I really want to take it slow with these guys.

Won't be able to start before wednesday, but can't wait to get my hands around! I already have some ideas on how to relate the start of the season in my blog :p

Need some more free time...sleep less...play EHM...:p

uhm, after a great start 4 losses in the next 7 games, I'm at 7-4 now, disappointing. Connolly isn't really producing as expected yet. Blunden and Sharp have developed great chemistry on the 3rd line though.

You traded for Niedermayer and then lost him? That's a seriously tough break!

Yeah, I had to call up Barker, glad I still have Bolland to use as homegrown next year.
I usually prefer to have a solid balanced D consisting of players in the 1.5m-3m bracket and I rarely use players under 25 on D. But since I thought Aucoin was overpaid and I had a lot of young Dmen I needed someone like Niedermayer. Well looks like this screws my record up now, I'm 9-6 currently.

Ouch that injury hurts. At least Nieds is not one of your core. :-D

Hey, Bruins72

I started doing coaching changes too and i realised that i needed to do the same with norfolk so i add a new GM. So far so good, but do i need to keep that 2nd GM or can i resign and come back after awhile? (rules allow to add a 2nd gm but can i reasign and retire anytime?, Norfolk, of course)

I believe you can resign/retire at any time from Norfolk. I have not done this one before...Bruins?

The best thing to do with the AHL GM is to get your staff straight and go on vacation. This way you can always easily come back and make changes as needed. If you resign/retire the AHL GM you may come back a few months later to find all of your coaches gone (and not replaced) because they were either released or signed to an NHL team.

Alright, so I'm done with my first set. 12-7-1, only because I beat the Quacks and Flamers on the road in my last 2 games. Yay Khabbi :-p

So, don't yell at me, which screenshots do you need again ? :D

Hey corinthian, I think timmy_t has the right idea. Just go on vacation and let your Asst GM take care of things. I'd just make sure you change the options so he doesn't try to make trades or anything like that.

Thanks timmy_t! & bruins72

Hey, Danny
I don't have much faith in Khabi, but you already signed him as a core player and recently lost Niedermayer guess what... Start praying! (':-D')

Only go on vacation with Norfolk though. Not the Hawks...or big trouble.

Anyway....Ummm... I did something in my game at training camp I am very proud of... It could end up being scary dumb! But I think it is freaking amazing that this could get done in one trade.

One hell of a blockbuster

Anyway

I get Heatley, Emery, Volchenkov (wanted Meszaros no go), Eaves, Glass for Bochenski, Salmelainen, Vorobiev, Shutron, Palmer and Khabibulin.

Again..in the future Shutron could hurt. But darn what a big trade!!!! :-D

Wow, that's a big trade... When I saw "One hell of a blockbuster," I was hoping it was Crosby, Malkin, Fleury, and Staal for [whatever scrubs you wanted to get rid of]. I'm almost to September, so I'll hopefully have a huge trade coming up soon...

So, you want...like...use Emery as your starter ?

batdad, schooled by reality :D :p

Hee..no...I never even try that stuff. I was looking to dump Khabi, and went for Heatley...cause you know..Hawks and LW.

Then I realized, I may need a goalie and thought..hmmm Emery?

Then the salaries were not liked by Ottawa, so I started doing some work. Getting Eaves for LW is nice too. And adding Volchenkov to a rubbish-ass defense should help a bit, at least later on.

I was quite surprised it was accpeted. Had another deal for Sturm, Paul Mara, Brad Stuart involving Khabi too...but was giving up more from roster in that deal

Ouch! Huge blockbuster batdad! :-o

But what?...you play as Wirtz Jr? No way you school anyone with that naff blood affiliation! :D

15th September will be the first deadline, this will give users enough time to familiarise themselves with the new rules, after this deadlines will be more frequent, hopefully every 2 weeks.

Thanks Calv. And Shadd--yeah I did that on purpose. Norfolk has a GM names Wirtz as well....Shocking I know.

Rankings came out for the teams...Chicago in my game...ummm 20th. Me got some work to do. :-D

alright I didn't see this anywhere, but maybe I missed it. I saw during the free agency period we are limited to 2 not on our team. Are we limited in free agency signings or players from Europe outside of that time period?

Posted: Mon Jul 30, 2007 9:10 pm
by Shadd666
Players from europe are free agents, and so would count toward the two FA signings limit.

At least i think so, as you'll see all the european players when you're filtering only for FAs in the game :-k

when does "the free agency season" change and become the next one? So lets say you sign 2 Europeans and they go through during the transfer window will you still be able to sign any for the upcoming season or is that it?
