It's a good thing wages rarely go so high, though.

If somebody offers 10 millions, that will be 50 000 in year. we call that 10millions bug.

I did same to my Malkin regens.

Ah, it was 10 mil. For some reason I remembered 8 mil. Nonetheless, I wouldn't offer anyone that money, or I'd feel like I'm cheating.

I think that is straight cheating.

I always play like four seasons, then i get bored to team or that situtation.
Just played Flyers, after first-season, i got change to offer 10million contracts, of course, they came to team. I say those contract are cap friendly! :-)

So i think that bug is very stupid. Doest TBL challenges have rules like that:

1. You are not allowed to offer contract of 10million?
Maybe that would be fair. ](*,)

I don't know, I don't play the challenges. I play my own game with my own additional rules to keep the game challenging. :-)

There isn't a specific rule against it, though it hasn't been an issue. To be honest in the challenges I haven't had a contract go over 6.75 mill. The player that had that I traded him after he brought home the cup and could no longer afford him.

Yeah... you tend to not be able to afford to carry such large contracts in the challenges. You need a balanced team to succeed.

Once Price was paid 12 millions a year for 7 years and the last year for 16 millions, never saw any problems....

Once I got frustrated because I wasn't able to re-sign Chris Pronger so I cheated and offered him around $10 mil per year, he accepted but his salary didn't change to $50,000 and I was stuck with his huge contract. I guess it serves me right...

Haha I've done that too in my previous saves. Offered Drew Doughty about 11 mil per year for as long as possible thinking I was being clever. Ended up placing him on waivers just to get rid of his contract :(

Ya, why does EHm 2007 players always wants to signs contract for 1,2 or 3 years? why not 4, 5, 6,7... etc...

They will maybe accept, if you offer enough big salaries for those 7 years. Like:
1.5m
1,8M
2,2m
etc..

And big singingbonus.

-----------------------
And for grits207:

Salary will not change if you offer aroung 10mill.
It has to be 10Million. No 10,124 mil.

they will accept an offer if the money is there, but its kind of weird they never ask for more then 3-4years

At the time the game was made it wasn't as common to see contracts of more than 3 or 4 years. These super-long contract have become in fashion these last couple years.

hey guys,
I really enjoy using this bug as a workaround for the sometimes silly player AI regarding contract extensions.
There is something funny about your (future) franchise player refusing to sign a 2 year extension worth 7M p/y... only to become a RFA and accept a 2 year deal at 4,5M p/y instead :)... unless, of course, there is something beneficial in doing so that I am not aware of.
I also read on this board, that your player may never leave the team to remain eligible for jersey retirement. So it can be helpful in this regard, too.
Plus, this can be combined with the fact that you can use the bug to sign players to long term deals.

Since it's been discussed here, I made a short guide for people that are interested and don't know how to do this yet. Sorry if it has been posted before :).
I originally intended to post it in a spoiler box so I don't spam the thread, but I don't know if that's possible here..? As it's not really advertisement but just a single page, I hope it's alright to post the link to the webs account I just made. http://kariki.webs.com/

Any of you guys seen this happen in EHM 2005?

The player was an RFA, accepted an offer sheet, while this was happening he was traded. Team matched the offer sheet and now he is making 50k/yr for two seasons. Wasnt an over the top offersheet either - something like 1.8 per year.

and just as importantly, I didn't see any fix above... only thing is to wait until the contract expires? :-k

Its 10million dollar bug, like u guys say.

When u offer guy 10million dollars per year and he accepts, he plays for 50k and is more than happy ;)
