For some reason, I've been a big fan of Colorado Avalanche since '98 or something. Before that, I supported Detroit Red Wings because I liked to play with it in NHL 98 (Fedorov, Shanahan, Yzerman...). But then I started to like Colorado, probably because of Patrick Roy and Joe Sakic.

My team from the NHL is the Bruins, I remember hack in the 90's when I wound youngish and playing EA NHL for the first time of the Sega Megadrive, I wanted to chose a team and to do this I went for the logo as a starting point and Boston Bruins was the team I liked the look of so I started using them in my games and following them in the NHL after a while.

in 1993 on a family trip to New York my dad took me to see an exhibition game to watch the New York Rangers, and it was that season they went on to win their last Stanley Cup. Ever since then ive always looked out for their results! But since the internet makes following US sports that little bit easier, id say im a fully fledged fan!

I am a Leafs fan myself. Some say that is unfortunate (i.e. most family members) but I hold true to the Blue and White. However, I am so disillusioned with this franchise that the thought of another team coming to southern Ontario made me think of possibly changing allegiances.

Since i start to watch hockey i've been always a fan of the Quebec Nordiques! :-D

Then they move up to Colorado....and i became a fan of the Avalanche. My favorite all time player is Peter Forsberg and i always love Sakic, Roy. Since Peter left the NHL, my interest in the Avalanche go with him, i still check what they doing and i still want them to win, but it's not the same without Peter. darn injuries that make is outstanding career shorter.

I like the Flyers too with Jeff Carter, Richards and Simon Gagné.

Being from England, it's difficult to pledge to a single team... But growing up I admired (and tried to be Paul Kariya), so I grew up liking the Ducks, and of course the love of one of their centres, it's still the Ducks! :-D

Bar the Ducks, go Blackhawks. :-D

Well, my favotite team is Colorado Avalanche. I've always liked their trade deadline trades when they bring superb players.
One of the most memorable things was when Ray Bourgue skated with Stanley cup above his head. I cried... See it here.
And there were of course other players like Forsberg, Hejduk, Sakic.
Runner-up for my favorite team is Edmonton Oilers, but there may be more teams.
On the other hand, I really dislike Stars, Sharks, Canucks and Capitals. Sorry, I can't help myself 8-)

Honestly, I did too... in a totally manly sort of way.

I grew up watching Ray Bourque play for the Bruins. He was there when I started watching hockey in 82 or 83. I watched most of his long career. Even though I was sad to see him go when he was traded to Colorado, I knew it was for the best. And I remember watching the Avs in the playoffs that next season and seeing him finally hoist The Cup. It was amazing. I even took the day off from work and went to see him when he brought The Cup back to Boston to share with his long-time fans.

This is the most outstanding thing i've see in hockey since i watch it. To see Bourque with the Stanley cup, he was so happy! darn this is one of the best moment in NHL history. What about the move of Sakic to take the cup, didn't kiss it, just turn and put them right in the hands of Bourque! Outstanding. :-)

Exactly. And that is what it's all about. Respect. The Bourgue's "Mission 16W" surely added some momentum to whole team for playoffs and he was the crucial fit in roster.
I remember watching the final game and keeping fingers crossed in last minutes. It was 3 or 4 AM here, the sun rose, first birds started to whistle and Bourgue skating with the cup. Awesome, even after years. I couldn't fall asleep and my parents went to work sooner that I went to bed :-D

Yes, that was extremely classy thing for Sakic to do. That just shows what kind of a player and person he is.

I have to agree with you guys... If I'm asked what is the most touching and memorable moment in the history of hockey, I would have to say that it is the moment when Bourque lifted the cup, finally, after 22 seasons. And in my favourite team. I've never been closer to start crying (for a sports event) than then when I saw it.

Wow, that was probably my 1st Stanley Cup I watched back when i was 11. And back then i didn't really know who Ray Bourque was. But watching that now, as a 19 year old, that makes hairs on my neck stand up a little to see Sakic not even lift it and just hand it straight over. Wow!

My favourite NHL team has gotta be Philadelphia Flyers, mainly because of Eric Lindros, Robert Eche, Peter Forsberg, Sami Kappenen, Simon Gange and John LeClaire. When I started playing NHL I always used to play as the Flyers.

Talking about watching stanley cup finals, the first one I every saw was when I was in the States in 2003 (I think). I saw the stanley cup final against Tampa Bay Lghtning and Calgary Flames. Tampa the next day was a state, there was liter all over the street. Good times!!
