Thanks again, everyone!

I'm finally back in to work, so I have time to read and post on TBL. At home, I have no time at all!

They discharged my wife from the hospital on Sunday Dec 27th and then they let us take home Cam (the bigger of the two babies) on Monday Dec 28th. He had been doing great the whole time in the hospital and he was ready to go home. His brother Liam wasn't eating as much or as consistently as Cam, so he had to stay in the hospital. The doctors tell me that while in the womb, babies learn to "suck-swallow-breathe", usually towards the end of the pregnancy. My boys were 5 weeks early, so they really hadn't mastered that yet. Cam got the hang of it pretty quickly but Liam was struggling, so they put him on a feeding tube. It's this really thin tube that's inserted in his nose and goes down into his belly. Whatever formula he didn't take from the bottle was put in a syringe that they would attach to the tube and let gravity take into his belly. This made sure he was taking in all the nourishment that he needed. There wasn't anything wrong with him. He was just at the stage of development where he should be still in the womb and not having to do that yet. Cam just picked things up quicker. Now it seems that Liam is figuring it all out and he's been eating well on his own for the past couple days. The doctor in the special care nursery told my wife today that Liam keeps up what he's been doing that we'll probably be able to take him home on Wednesday. Obviously, we're very excited about this prospect. It kills us to have to leave one of our babies at the hospital and only visit him. So getting him home with be huge!

The one blessing out of Liam having to stay at the hospital is that we've been able to get up to speed on taking care of just one baby with Cam at home. It's a huge adjustment and I bet taking care of two right away would be overwhelming. I'm sure it will still be overwhelming once Liam comes home but we've been able to get a little practice in with Cam. Diapers aren't that big of a deal. I'm past that now. The hardest part of that is wrestling a wriggling baby's legs to get the diaper changed. I've had more of a struggle getting the babies to burp. They really make you work for it.

My dog is obsessed with the baby. She's always kissing him and she's very protective. She's always at the door growling at the slightest noise. She also looks to me for the OK when somebody other than my wife and I picks up the baby. She's working overtime to protect him!

When I get the chance, I've got a couple pictures of Cam dressed in baby Bruins clothes. He wore them on New Years Day when we watched the Winter Classic on TV. He's already a die-hard fan. Liam is too and he's very upset that he missed the Winter Classic.

Okay, so that's my update. Thanks again for all the kind thoughts!

Dude--Good to hear from you and glad things are going well. And yes, learning with one is better than two. Tough not to have both there I am sure...but it is a good adjustment period.

So cool on the beast!! They are smart things them doggies.

Bruins jersey? Come on....should have been Hawks..they are the future!! :-D

So here are a couple pictures of Cam in his Bruins clothes. The clothes were too big for him (I think they were for the size after newborn) but he wore them long enough for pictures.

Ready to watch the game...

When the Flyers scored...

and

When the Bruins won!

Hah B, I totally love these pictures, I saw them on Facebook already, but I can view them over and over again and still be left with nothing but silly smile on my face. =D>

Thanks! I thought he really nailed the expressions. He's already a big Bruins fan. He totally pays attention when the game is on TV.
