Hi Dabo,
http://www.eloquera.com is free for commercial use - same concepts as Perst but not as mature. Spending a day or so with it could end up saving you a lot of time in this project since the scope is looking big and object db's are a perfect fit for object oriented programmers for most applications

Even though we have come a long way on the current database structure we will do some testing and see which way to go. Object databases do look interesting.
