I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread and would love some help if possible.
I recently got a new MacBook running OS 10.6.1 (Snow Leopard) and get this same result when I try to load the game. As suggested by Nuk I deleted all the game files and reloaded the trial, version 3.01 (all I could find), which started up fine.
I then ran the 3.04 update and still get the list of errors and the game flashes but doesn't open.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

It's not finding the files. EHM isn't flexible like most Mac programs. You can't move, rename or change anything. Saves have to be in the Documents folder, and EHM has to be in Applications. Make sure the app isn't open when you patch it.

Thanks for the quick reply. When I install the program and the patch I don't move or rename any of the files myself, and I made sure the program wasn't open - so I'm not sure what isn't in the right place.
To give you an idea of where my folders are - my NHL EHM 2007 folder in my Applications folder contains:
- data (fstart, database, hints, languages, pictures and skins)
- temp
- data refresh applescript
- data_refresh.sh
- changelist.txt
My Home Documents folder contains a Sports Interactive folder > EHM 2007 > games, print, search, tactics, training
Any ideas of what could be in the wrong place or misnamed? Or could this be an issue with permissions?

To add to my last post, after looking at the folders on my old dying iBook, the patched game had a number of other folders (formations, fonts, match events, media, sounds, url) in the Applications>NHL EHM 2007 folder that are not present after I patch the game on my new computer.
So it appears that the patch causes the deletion (I can't find them using spotlight) of several important folders...

I don't know if this is the problem in your case, but are you sure you're installing the patch in the same place you've installed the game? I've noticed that the patch installer does not look for the place you put the game, suggesting a default location instead (the Applications folder or whatever). This way, it's easy to end up with two EHM folders (one for the game, one for the patch). Try providing the location yourself, maybe it'll help.

When I install the patch I install it into the NHL EHM 2007 folder in Applications, so I assume that's correct. I don't end up with two separate folders after i've installed the patch. Thanks for the help though!

Hm. That is strange. AFAIK, the patch shouldn't cause those files to be deleted/overwritten. Try this. Make a backup of those folders. Patch the game again. If the folders disappear again, put the backups in the folder and see if that works.
Help!

Having some problems here. I'm using my new Mac with Snow Leopard and have encountered the same message as Oobla.
"I don't make any guarantees - but this worked for me....
- delete the folder from Applications
- re-download the 3.0 trial and running it.
Quitting out.
Running the 3.0.4 update.
Running the applescript that you're supposed to do with the update."
I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to do here. Delete EHM 2007 from Applications, then download the try and buy again?
Then quit the game?
I already have the 3.04 update - what am I supposed to do with it now?
And I don't know what "Running the applescript that you're supposed to do with the update" means, exactly.
Can someone help me out? I've PM'd a couple of guys who haven't responded and I'd really like to play this game - like an itch I just can't scratch.
Thanks.
No help?

For the love of Pete. I can't get the game to work with a Mac and Snow Leopard? I get the very same error message that Oobla had and have tried the same thing to correct but nothing. Seriously frustrated. Does SI give money back for the game not being compatible with a new Mac?

Hi Lars!
Precisely when are you getting the error message (meaning the Debug screen that Oobla got, if I understand you correctly)? When running the application itself, or when running the AppleScript? Have you got the app successfully patched? I'm not sure if I can help you (I'm still using MacOS X Tiger), but I'll sure try.
LarsPGH wrote:Does SI give money back for the game not being compatible with a new Mac?
Wouldn't count on it. IIRC, Apple advised everybody about to switch to Snow Leopard to check whether all the applications they use were going to work with 10.6 beforehand. And, as you surely know, EHM 2007 is no longer developed.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to give Ciryatan a quick shout out. He was a huge help to me in getting the game up and running on Snow Leopard/Mac OS 10.6. I was nowhere without him.
Great community here, when a guy in Poland can help out a guy in the US over a hockey game.

If he gave you a resolution to your problem in a PM, maybe you could explain the fix here in this thread too? Somebody else might come along later with the same problem and if the fix is in the thread, it could be a big help to them.

If I understand correctly, the problem was similar to the ones mentioned previously by Oobla and morch, so it might or might not necessarily be a problem with installing EHM on Snow Leopard.
It seems like applying the 3.0.4 patch in some cases might cause deletion of some of the files that are necessary to run the game. So my advice is, just as Richie Daggers Crime suggested before, to backup the EHM folder before patching the game, and then check if any of the files are missing. The patch actually does add a number of files, but it is not supposed to delete any. If some of the files are in fact missing, try replacing them with the backups. This might help.
Also, as it's been pointed out before, make sure you don't mess with the folder structure of EHM. The game might not work if you move something to other locations. The default location for installing EHM is Applications/NHL EHM 2007 (you can change that, of course. Just make sure you install the patch in the same location, as it does not look for the application on its own, instead suggesting the same default file path as above). Additional files for EHM are kept in Users/Username/Documents/Sports Interactive/EHM 2007.
Re-downloading the game from scratch

Hi,
I have had the EHM 2007 game on my PC since it came out and am an avid player, but recently bought a Mac and can find no way to transfer the game across. So I am downloading the free-trial on the official website and have a few questions that I hope some might be able to answer:
1. Is it possible to update to the latest version of the game while under trial version?
2. What is the best way to go about updating to the latest version of the game from the original download? Just jump straight to the latest release patch and download it along with the latest rosters update? Are there Mac versions of all these and can they be found on this site?
Thanks for any help that can be given...

EDIT: I noticed that the patch for Mac is "unavailable".
And I think you can use the latest update on it as well, and that should be Lidas' update and you can find it in our download section.

I've looked in and tried Lidas' update but the Mac doesn't seem to recognize it because it comes down as a Zip file which is maybe only supported by Windows. Is there something else I have to click on in order to get the 09/10 roster update for Mac?

Unfortunately, you'll have to buy a Mac license. Your current licenses are only good on PC.
PRB wrote:1. Is it possible to update to the latest version of the game while under trial version?
I believe it is possible. The trial is simply the full game, except it's locked from going beyond six in-game months.

I would say just patch straight to the latest patch (3.0.4), and you'll be good to go. And yes, you will need the Mac version of the patch. Where to get that, though, I'm not sure - I'm on a PC (wishing I was on a Mac

)

Yeah I figure I am going to have to re-purchase it though the price on the official site is over $30 while some websites will ship the game to me for $3 if I buy it.
Anyway, I think I have got the latest patch (3.0.4) up and running but I am now looking for the latest roster update for Mac.
Finally, I had an editor for my PC version were I could edit players etc., is such a thing avilable to download for Mac also?
Thanks...

Hi PRB!
.Zip files should work on a Mac without any problems, and you don't need any third party software for that. Also, I didn't have any problems with downloading, unzipping and using Lidas' rosters. I'm running MacOS X 10.4.11, but I can't see any reason why it should be different with later versions.

I remember asking that question around here some time ago, but receiving no answer. Therefore I presume that there is no editor for Mac. I'd be grateful if somebody proved me wrong.

I get the following message after downloading the file:
There is no default application specified to open the document “LidasDB2.0.rar”.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but that is as far as I can take it. Any advice?

Nevermind I appear to have got the RAR file working.
Now I'm having trouble changing the database I want to open for some reason. Cannot seem to find the option to change it on this version.

My PC version when I hit New Game allows me to change the database I want to use but on this version I downloaded for the Mac it automatically starts up, no option to change database. Anyone know why this is? When I click on Check for Updates it says there are none.

.zip files and .rar files are different matter, and I thought you asked about the former. The ability to unarchive .zip files is implemented in the MacOS itself, .rar files need third party software. I'd recommend The Unarchiver, but from what I hear UnRarX works well too. Both are free stuff. However, I'm glad to hear you managed to deal with that.

Yes, it should work the same on Mac, i.e. you should get an option to choose the database when you hit the New Game button. If you don't, make sure you have the latest patch installed (3.0.4), and that you put the database folder in the correct place (the correct filepath is: whereveryouputEHM/NHL EHM 2007/data/database).
