Yes that is another draft that the researchers have not worked on the players for yet. Not many newgens at that time, and the info on a bnch of kids that are 15-16 is just not there to show that they are studs or not. In fact, many of the names that will be present at that time for the draft are not in the database yet. More will come as we update the three CHL leagues, and a few others.

Yeah in general the trade AI is good or close to being good.

It will never be "perfect" because some of this is subjective to what is "realistic"

Like batdad said, Seisito for a 2nd shouldn't be happening.

That's psycho. Seisito, to a team that really wanted him might fetch a 4th at the very very best. To me he's somewhere worth around a 5th or 6th.

Actually...he is worth nothing. Vancouver could not move him IRL, waived him...nothing....sent him home from Utica. He has not played since before Xmas 2014. He is totally out of shape and done....off to Britain he goes.

I'm still seeing several RFAs getting released in july after the first season because either the teams haven't offered them new contracts or they didn't accept one in 15.4b, anyone else seen this happen?

Well I traded the 1st and 2nd overall picks in 2018 for Ryan Murphy and 10th overall - Considering how bad the draft is that's a steal, but then the one thing that really bugs me with AI trading is the very hit and miss draft pick values. How the Kings could give up Quick for virtually nothing and then think they're pick would be worthless I cannot comprehend. Wasn't expecting to win the lottery as well though.

Worst thing is that once again the board and fans are angry! They're annoyed when I trade unneeded talent for a pick that brings in McDavid, then when I trade bad picks for talent they're annoyed again! Bah, no pleasing some fans and employers.

Sorry if this is the wrong place for this. If so, would love to be pointed to the right one.

How do you turn off roster moves during simming? IIRC in 2007 it was in the GM options menu.

Ok, so I remembered these options are in the vacation menu. I have turned off making offers/accepting trades. However, I'm in the 2016-17 season and nearly every time I go on vacation, when I return there are acquired players on my team that were on others' trading blocks. Are there any roster conditions causing these trades to override the vacation menu settings?

Kkleevs--have a look around. Tons on this...especially in the bug section. :-D

Thanks BD.

I like how it's much more difficult in EA to acquire franchise players or lottery draft picks, but sometimes I feel it's too difficult.

Eugh, every season after the draft the AI thinks I'm going to take a 4+5th pick (or worse) for a 1st rounder, even if they were 1st or 2nd overall. That really needs some work.

Has anyone seen any actual blockbuster deals between two AI teams? I don't recall seeing any in my games.

Just found this game and started playing..... Wow.... great game.... Playing as the Oilers I traded Fasth(G) and Brad Hunt (D) to the Canucks for Lack(G) and Yannick Weber(D)..... I dunno but I think that was a little lopsided for me...... Anyone.....Buelher..... Anyone......

I've seen big players/prospects move, but not usually fair deals and as expected they're quite rare.

It would be very difficult for an AI to put together something that would be considered a blockbuster....the calculations behind the scene would be very hard, and well frankly....to set it up to do that once every 10 years or so would be incredibly impossible. You would end up with this happening every season, and that would not be good for realism.

Lack and Weber are not that good in game....so well...no it is not that lopsided.

Please stop the AI stupid offer spam. I am not going to trade 4th overall for 7th overall in a straight swap!

No but the CPU might get you to negotiate off that....always good to me to see them at least trying. Does it need to make it more realistic? Yes. But stop it altogether...no.

I desperately need a draft prospect, then I try offer Bernier, and Shark offer with their #1 round pick. Accept and the trade complete.

Unbelievable that Bernier got a high value even Shark really let their #1 round pick for him. :-k

But in real world, sure not a team really want him unless for 4 round or 5 rounder.

Then, next season, Shark put Bernier in trading block. What? :-?

I thinks sometime, AI is really stupid or they are crazy enough to make such decision.

So far in my save (latest updates + 7.3 Sos rosters), just bought the game finally last week so haven't played earlier versions:

- no trade spam from AI, actually I like it really much that they try to negotiate a trade if they are interested in my player, at least inquire about a possibility of a trade

- no over the top and ridiciculous trades between AI teams, no star players for ahl prospects

- no star players in waivers, for now AI teams are handling cap problems quite well, they do not take or trade for players if they are near cap, chicago actually traded Hossa and Bickell away for ok value

- (if I remember correctly I read that draft picks were overvalued and hard to get?) Well now AI teams are throwing picks away like candy; guys like Mike Weber and Mike Brown go for a 2nd rounder and Kings traded their 1st rounded for a 26 year old AHL guy, to play in Manchester.

Overall, to quote Borat, I like.

I'd rather they started as an enquiry and work from there, or add something else in, even if it's just a 4th so it at least looks like they're making an effort for it to be fair. Just throwing out a downward trade is poor, and obviously won't be accepted.
They don't seem keen on negotiating either - I usually get the spam of 4th+5th for guy you just drafted in the 1st round, and when negotiating they come back with the same offer of 4th+5th for same guy... er, no?

Overall it's not too bad, just those offers get on my Red Wings.

REally? That is odd. When I have had the offer for a guy I just drafted, and I come back with a counter offer, I quite often get them to accept for a pretty high level player. I mean not like EHM 07 where Ryan Wilson often netted you someone like Alex Ovechkin the day after the draft. But I have done well with it.

*Yes EHM EA trade engine still needs some tweaking, but if you have not played EHM 2007 you have no idea how far it has come. It is insane how much better it is and how much harder it is to make a trade. Improvement in this area is HUGE. Still needs more I agree....but HUGE.

I do not mind the emails asking for my guys. Even if they are spam, shows me I drafted something interesting if I develop it right. :-D

Is there a way to get the AI controlled teams that are up against the Salary Cap to actively seek out salary dumps? A tweak on the "Shopped around by team due to financial reason". What if the AI started pairing the troublesome contract with a good draft pick to entice a team with lots of cap space to take on the bulk of the player's remaining salary?

Also, the "Shopped around by team due to financial reason" availability is not used frequently enough. In the real NHL, the teams that are up against the cap all have players they are trying to get rid of for a fraction of their normal value.

Look at what Boston just did on draft day as an example. Chicago is in a similar boat as they are looking to rid themselves of Sharp, Bickell and possibly Seabrook. Los Angeles has been trying to get rid of Mike Richards contract since January.

IN a game the other day...

Vancouver Traded Eddie Lack for a 3rd round pick and a 7th round pick. Fans raged.
Boston traded Dougie Hamilton to Calgary for a 1st and two 2nd round picks. FAns raged
Boston traded Milan Lucic for a back up goalie, a prospect of marginal value and a mid tier first round pick. Fans raged

Colorado traded a sure fire stud and a third liner for a bust prospect C, a bust prospect D and a prospect. Fans raged

Anaheim traded a pick for a goalie to give them seven goalies on their roster.

New York traded a back up goalie for a good pick, barely leaving them with one NHL goalie on their roster.

So yeah. looks like the AI in the game is realistic to me. :-D

Haven't really had any issues with AI trades, but this had me scratching my head.
