Sakic might not be far behind...Avs aren't really contenders yet he trades Tanguay and prospects for Boedker. I know Tangs is declining and hasn't done much this season, but did they need to give up on Wood?

It wasn't THAT bad. I know back in the days Beackley was seen has a good prospect but maybe it declined since 2014 and well Boedker seemed to have a high value for the deadline so they paid the price for it. If the resign him the deal will make more sense. IF.

Calling it now, Boedker with MacKinnon or Duchene = production.

Sweeney should get together with Benning. He's had a rough day too

Well they used to work together at the Bruins. Then Sweeney took his job as AGM when Benning left Boston. I just don't think Sweeney was ready to move up to GM when Chiarelli got canned.

Benning needs a hug lol. He's been trashed on pretty much every Canucks forum I've read. However, Canucks ownership is also responsible if they indeed nixed potential deals for Hamhuis. That said, if the Flames were able to deal David Jones, Benning should have been able to deal Vrbata to one of those 8 teams.

Some interesting thoughts about Plotnikov's tenure in Pittsburgh. http://thehockeywriters.com/sergei-plot ... n-arizona/
He's playing well in Arizona, I think he has all it takes to be a regular NHL player, surely not a star, but maybe a 2nd-3rd line player.

Thanks for the good read once again! :-) It's an interesting case with the Russians, at least this year when a lot of good players came to the NHL. Panarin/Tihonov in Chicago no one expcected Panarin to do miracle work for them as a Calder trophy candidate.. They "had" Tihonov also which IS a great player.. but in NHL he's now miles away from Panarin. But who knows..Tihonov is in a kinda same spot as Plotnikov right now. Took a few year for Kuznetsov too., now he's dominating in Washington! (I know he was a top draft kid)
Everything has to do with playing time and in what role you're assigned to.

EDIT: Sorry I went of topic from Plotnikov. :-D Just reminded me of these other Russians. ;)

IMHO you are/were underrating Panarin a little bit :) he's a fantastic player and I think you should have noticed if not in the KHL, at least at the WC.
Plotnikov was probably in the wrong place... and perhaps Malkin isn't as good as a mentor as Anisimov (and Tikhonov) is...

Caps for the Stanley Cup!

(I can say that, because I'm not the GM)

What the hell is wrong with Chicago? For the last weeks it is always the same: I stay up in the morning, get a coffee, switch on the Blackhawks game from the night before and look forward to a good game. A few minutes later I already know that it will be a bad game again. At the moment I feel it will be a very short trip to the post season and my only hope is that the team has some much experience to magically turn in a contender again once the PO start.

:check: Until they play well in May, the regular season means nothing. (Yes, I hate them). There's a set of teams, including the Caps and Pens, that the regulars season means nothing as long as you make the playoffs. It's all about Cups.

Yup, I know. The playoffs is a completely different story, but one can't feel but excited when watching them play. And it's not just Ovechkin, there's a wider front.

I have no idea what a "heartquake" is HaHa

I never understood why the Oilers selected Yakupov, and apparently neither did most of the Oilers scouting staff http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/oile ... pov-start/
