Wheeler
Looks okay...no work rate but high determination....interesting to see how he goes.
I have opted not to re sign Ballard, Zigomanis,Tellqvist,Gratton,Helmer,Perrault,Tordjman,Weller,Winnik.
Hopefully I win the draft lottery...even if I don't I'll get another high pick..which is good, and hopefully draft some good two way wingers in the later rounds..thats the plan anyways.
Looking forward to having Mueller on my team next season after spending a year in the AHL...along with Hanzel.
I resigned Boynton for 3.2m a season for 2 years, Morris for 3.9 a season for 2 years, Kaigorodov 1.5m a season for 2 years, Reinprecht 3.7m for 2 years.
I figured those are important players...and maybe I overpayed for some..but it isn't like I don't have the cap room

Without Boynton, Reinprecht, Morris....I would hate to see how bad I would be..and they are key in helping develop my younger players like Stephenson, Yandle, Mueller.

wow. reinprecht asks for 5,1 mill of me.
haha whut a joke! but who else can command the 1 and second line from the center spot?
mueller is ranked 1# prospect in nhl now for me
and jovanovky that won norris with 63p wasnt even ranked at top 10 defensemen in nhl

Just finished my draft...I got the 4th overall pick...and boy am I happy with who I got...I picked up Vyacheslav Voinov..an 18 year old Russian Defenseman he is 6ft 227 pounds...he is going to be quite a tank when he grows up
Voinov
I also drafted Brett Leffler, Richard Manley, Billy Sweatt, Tim Binnigsley, and a few late round gems from Europe.

Okay. Last nite I had the crziest night on this game. It took me two and a half hours just to get through
this.
Words do not describe it. They just do not. Game 4 Stanley Cup Semi Final.
Just for kicks here is another shot
Talk about getting tired
Funny thing is..Vrbata..who was playing a bit injured did not lose nearly as much stamina as Sjostrom who fell to 59% by the end of the game.
No injuries in this game. Weird.
CHeck it out...my guys up front were horrible. And Reinprecht was injured and unavailable for this game.
The game went on so long the faceoff stats on the game screen were totally messed up.

OMG! That is insane! I've never seen the faceoff stats get messed up like that. If you can, I'd love to see a screen of the second page of player stats for the game (hits, blocked shots, and such). What a game! That is just epic! It must've killed you to lose that one.

Sort of. I was just happy to go to bed actually. Wife was something widdled though. I will have the second page up in a bit.

WOW! Jovo with 29 hits in one game! I've seen whole teams with far less hits than that!

Posted: Mon Apr 28, 2008 6:01 pm
by batdad
You have to remember...he played 4 games in 1. So really only 7 hits per game.

So..one player did get injured in that OT game.
His name...Jerome Iginla. Oh darn!
ANyway...won the next two games 3-1 (EN goal) and 3-1 (EN goal). Both had me scared to death of another OT.
I took out the Flemmes in 6. Off to the final to face...the freaking Thrashers.
Atlanta-Phoenix. Yep that would be great for TV ratings

What is up with the Thrashers? I really can't say that I've ever seen them do so well in the first season before? Now we're both having them over-achieve!
I'm just wrapping up my preseason schedule. We're ranked #30 in the season preview again. I guess finishing first in the conference and making it to the second round of the playoffs didn't change anyone's opinions?

We've had a heck of a problem with injuries during training camp. Auld has been out for stretches, Kaigodorov was for 8 days. I lost Perrault (who I had contemplated making my homegrown) for most of camp with a broken finger. Vrbata was out for a good 10 days or so too. Let's hope they all get their health back for the regular season.
I sent both Kapanen and Tjarnqvist down to the AHL. They both cleared waivers. It looks like I'll be carrying the full 23 players on my roster this season. I usually like to run at a lean 20 players, no healthy scratches, but I've got some guys that would have to clear waivers and I'd rather keep them here in case of emergency.

08 draft is done, other than my first rounder I wasn't very pleased with this draft.
I was looking at Voinov but he had 6 determination in my game and nowhere near the stats from the screenie above so I actually picked up a goalie with my first round pick at #11 overall.
G Dalyn Flette ranked at #23, my scouts all think he can develop into a key player and compare him to Manny Fernandez. 16 determination and 15 workrate, it should be interesting to see how he develops.
My second pick was at #36 overall and saw me draft Greg Burke, a very strong two-way LW/RW with second line potential ranked at #33.
#41 pick was C/RW Philip McRae ranked at #41 (heh, didn't notice that when I drafted him), a very determined player who looks like a promising third liner.
At #43 I picked RD Bernie Stevens ranked at #65, his technical attributes make baby Jesus cry but he's a determined hard worker and my scouts think he has 3-4 potential.
Pick #71 saw me picking up RW Dale Hunt ranked at #161, a two-way player with third line potential who draws satisfaction from agitating opponents and checks well.
I used pick #101 to draft LD Charles Vouligny ranked at #152. Another D-man who lacks great technical skills but has good determination and workrate. He has 5-6 potential.
Our #161 pick was 20 year old LD Bohdan Vishnak who was unranked but has great physical attributes, 18 determination and 13 in every technical skill except faceoffs and deking. My scouts reckon he has 5-6 potential and would be a fringe player right now. I'm going to sign him right away since I have an open LD spot for next season.
Finally at #191 overall we picked C Daniel Bartek ranked at #119 who I'd had my eyes on for a few rounds. He's an offensive power forward with good determination and third line potential. The Ducks were looking at him but didn't get around to drafting him I guess.

Marsac I am unclear on something.
You had elected to play NTNB....but you only have 1 first round pick. You had 3 second rounders?
Everyone who plays NTNB should have 2 first rounders --the Ducks and your own. Two second rounders The Oilers and you own. No third rounder (you have also picked in the third round at number 71)
I am a wee bit confused here. How did your draft picks change?

we all have 3 2nd rounders 2008.
ottawa,toronto and pho 2nd pick.
i have had my eyes on flette to.he lookds decent but ,my scouts doesnt rank him to high even after 9 scoutreports
there is 2 more goolies in 2008 draft paulin and säteri. they both look better in my game and are ranked 16,and 61 so i should be able to get one of them.
i think everyone agrees that play nntb option that gooltending is very bad in PHO and needs long term investment. i miss trade for niitty with some ahl players and have an super gl for 12 years

Now that the year is over. That was the MOST difficult season I have ever played in this game. Including the first season I ever played.
Team could not freaking score. Horrible scoring. Defensively this team was really solid. Power play killed us. Totally killed us.
Well that and..in the Stanley Cup final Morris gets hurt, and then Doan gets suspended (appeal denied) for two games. Shane finished the year the same way he started it...on the league radar and suspended. Jerk.
Biggest surprise
Other than Carcillo's crazy NHL debut I would have to say it was Alex Auld, with a close runner up being Aebischer. Those two were awesome. All the way through the year.
Disappointments
1. York--Inconsistent and whiny.
2. Doan--Just never got rolling the way I know he can.
3. Reinprecht--thought he was supposed to be good in this game? was ... until the playoffs got heavy.
Kapanen and Tjarnqvist don't get here for me...I know they suck in EHM.
Sjostrom is a serviceable player, but nothing exciting. Morris is okay, but ratings are too high for the way he plays in EHM.
Michalek sucked. I was upset by that. Have had him before and did well.
I need to find better A-coaches, and I need to succeed in the draft. Especially on the forward units.
