In many parts of the US it's "Columbus Day", a holiday dedicated to the man who didn't really discover "America" and who thought he was actually in India. Yeah, it's a bogus holiday. In Canada it's Thanksgiving.

Well I suppose I should be thankful for that bogus holiday as it gives me a chance to see NHL hockey, during the "normal" hours ESPN America is showing silly baseball for the next 124012874 days.

LOL! Yeah, I'm sick of baseball too. I was probably one of the only people in the Boston area that was happy to see the Red Sox knocked out of the playoffs this weekend. I was just so happy that I didn't need to listen to the sports talk radio guys go on and on about the Sox. Maybe now they'll devote more time to the Bruins?

I cannot be compared to Recchi. Dude is a slow midget who us old and cranky. I am a slow giant who is old and cranky. As for Quebec, they would need a new building more than Any other Canadian city to house a team. And no way dies Buttman go to Arctic Ocean. It is too cold and would make too much sense. Now the Meditteranean islands on the other hand make perfect sense.

That's the point in the meeting with Bettman, since 1 year, Quebec City got a project of 400 millions dollars for a new arena and some others stuff and they show this to Bettman. We all know here since 300 years that we need a new arena and that's what the mayor of Qc city got in mind.

Well at least he scored today. The Bruins didn't turn up for the game until the third again. They don't seem to have a gameplan at all at the moment, running around like headless chickens in the defensive zone and just dumping it in aimlessly and hoping for a lucky bounce in the offensive zone. And people were saying the circus isn't in town for the first time in decades in October. Well I think it is, just the clowns have other costumes than usual.
Krejci looked good, as did Boychuck, that's it for the positives.

I was stuck at work and could only listen on the radio (over the internet since my office gets no radio reception). The only game were the B's have really played like I know they can was that game against the Hurricanes. Other than that they've been trying to get by on 10 or 20 minutes of real play and floating the rest. I hate it! I'm hoping they get their act together once they hit the road. These first 5 games have all been at home. Usually the Bruins start the season with a long road trip.

Ah no problem, alot of people didn't heard of this and this is normal. It just stays in Quebec most of the time for now, when maybe the project of 400 millions ( not a NHL team ) to Quebec City will be officialy announce, maybe the media would start to talk about it outside of Qc. That's why i said the '' here we know this since 300 years'' , the second the project was heard, alot of people were excited about it and we talking about it since along time. So your not to blame Batdad.

Avalanche had nice game against Bruins

I like Duchene's play beside Hejduk.
And great turnover by Blackhawks

Poor Calgary

Weird season start for my favourites so far.
New York Rangers - Great, great start Gabby & Co., I hope he stays healthy so all the critics that say 'Just watch him got injured next game' and 'Rangers are done if he gets injured' can go Lindros themselves.
Philadelphia Flyers - Good start, I would like to see this team go far this season, and hopefully Pronger will kick Crosby's ass as much as possible.
Washington Capitals - Kinda dissapointing, lost 4 in the row now, Ovie scorless in last 3 games, they better start rolling again!
Boston Bruins - Dissapointing start, I expected a lot more from a team that won it's conference last season, and changed players just minorly...
Chicago Blackhawks - Looks good so far, what a turnover last game vs. Calgary! And hopefully they will roll even more when Hossa is back.
Detroit Red Wings - Lost first two, then won, we'll see how they continue, lost Hossa and Hudler, and now Franzen for 4 months, but out of 30 teams, I think this is the one team that can actually deal with it.

Vesa Toskala is injure.....now it's the turn of MacDonald to have it's chance to make the Leafs win their first game this season! ( Hope it doesn't happen though

) Where is that suppose ''scary'' defense that the media were talking about in the beginning of the season.

Avalanche has started surprisingly this season, Toronto too, but not so much, i though before season start that Toronto isn't playoff team.
Sami Salo is injured, again, now he is away about month.

Not only are there no positives in Toronto's play, but also not much hope for it to get any better. The much-praised defence is playing absolute rubbish, and that includes the two biggest pre-season additions, Komisarek and Beauchemin. Komisarek's spending more time in the box than on the ice. The only defenceman to do his job is, surprisingly, Ian White. With no offence to speak of, and both goalies out for a couple of weeks (given Toskala's recent form, his absence can only do them good), this losing streak doesn't look likely to end soon.
The only positive for the Leafs seems to be that low place in the league means higher pick come the draft day. Or rather it would seem, if Burke hadn't traded this year's 1st and 2nd rounders away.

Komisarek is really playing like a headless chicken, he is far away the worst player of the Leafs since the beginning of the season! Good riddance for MTL.

Coyotes started well and i hope they will keep it up, and make surprise play-off spot.
If they dont do that in this year, they do that later, because the have much youngsters coming through. Tikhonov, Bodker, Mueller.

You forgot one Ronc. Once he fully matures into an adult instead of a stick figure...maybe even the most important one....Mr. T himself

The Avs continu to suprise me! Win 3-2 agaisnt the Habs, what an outstanding game we've got here, really it's was exciting, a great offensive game, Craig Anderson goal a really good game ( who's still believe it's wasn't a ''good'' acquisition

) The las 15 sec in the third the Habs completely dominate the Avs but when Anderson was laying on is back and have a wide open net, they shot the post....
It was the first time i see Matt Duchene perform and all i can say is that this kid got a big potential, he is good and he will be a very good hockey player!

Nicklas Lidström is now first european defenseman who has achieved 1000 points

I'll gladly eat crow on that one. I was one that thought "do the Avs believe that Anderson is the right choice in net?" before the season started, but he's turning into a real steal for the Avs and after seeing his contract, a real bargain as well.
The only bad part, we still have 75 games to play and unfortunately the Cup isn't won in October, but I'm loving the start of the season for the Avalanche

Congratulation for your 1000 pts Niklas, you deserve it...not many defenseman can tell they got 1000 pts in their career.
