Thanks

"First off, let's keep any future challenge rules questions in the appropriate thread. The thread we're in now if for discussing the challenge itself."
My bad.
8 games in, 2-3-3.
Budaj seems to have effectively won the starting job for the time being,
Duchene is playing in Brampton, O'Reilly in Erie,
Statsny has 4-5-9pts in those 8 games to lead the team,
but he is out for a week with an arm contusion, might still play him
if he starts skating soon enough,
too soon to know if I'm playoff material, but
I'm pretty sure (injuries aside) I won't be a bottom feeder...
defense is too good, and I have a legitimate top line.
lines are
Wolski-Stastny-Hedjuk
Galiardi-Hensick-Svatos
Tucker-Durno-Willsie
Koci (or Mcleod)-Sertich-Stewart
Liles-Salei
Quincey-Foote
Hannan-Clark (Preissing)
This is fun, first time for me to challenge myself like this...
the whole not making trades thing especially changes things , but it's fun
hopefully no one signs Taratukin, by June 30th, that dude is always a good free-agent signing for 500k or less...

So...without Milan Hejduk my Av's are 5-7-1. And my power play? Is about 2-50000. Ick. ANd Hejduk was not that good, he just allowed Svatos to be what he is...a 2nd liner.

Yeah, I'm thoroughly unimpressed with Hejduk. He hasn't been all that much better than Svatos in my game. Hejduk has played 3 games less than Svatos but they've got the same number of points.

Okay, I've talked to some of the others and we've come up with what we think is a fair solution. You'll have to waive and then release Turris. You lose him and don't get a replacement signing for season 3. For a penalty, you'll have a 2 point penalty per 20 game segment throughout season 3.
So once you get rid of Turris, you should be all set to continue your game.

In the 13 games I have played without Hejduk I have scored 15 goals and allowed 27. I have been shutout 6 times.

I never played with Hejduk before but he is one of my consistent scorers, 95 Pts. in 80 year 1 and so far he has 50 Goals and 103 points in 59 games.

Sounds fair to me, Turris is on waivers as we speek.

Well thank you, Master Bruins, I've sure got it somewhere...

Hejduk's been doing fine for me, 35 goals in 61 games so far. Svatoš led my team in scoring after 20 games, but then slowed it down a bit, and currently 3rd with 26 goals. The right wing is not much of a problem here, the left wing is. Been using Hensick or Tucker on my 2nd line, both have been OK, but far from impressive.

My affiliate has way better coaches than the big team. Stupid Avs. I wonder how Brian Willsie will work out on the first line...we definitely need a ROFL smiley.

I've been without Hejduk for some time, and we're playing about .500 hockey without him. Had him on the second line to give a more balanced scoring threat and keep the team from being so one-dimensional.

I waived Salei.
I didn't feel he was worth keeping around.

I reached the off-season and for some reason, the Rangers feel that Evgeny Grachev is untouchable.
GRRRR.

Games 21-40 done, we scored more and allowed less but had a worse record than the first 20. I attribute alot of it to the PP which has stopped working, going from 21.8% in the first 20 to 13.6% in the second 20. Time to try something different I guess.
The only IR player right now is Tucker and that has so far proved to be a blessing in disguise as Willsie, Duchene and Jones seem to really be clicking. They are +3, +4 and +3 in their three games together. Tucker by comparison has a team worst -11 by a wide margin.
Right now we have three players on pace for 50 goals but I doubt any of them will reach it as they get are already starting to need rest between games. I look forward to the season where I have a balanced enough team that I feel comfortable playing my forward lines equally. Hejduk was easily the best scorer in the first 20 but he slowed down in the second 20 while Wolski picked up his slack, now they both sit at 27 goals and Svatos has 25.
It's painfully clear that Svatos is the only one who can score on the second unit, he has only 11A to go along with those goals.
Duchene has 25 points in 35 games playing an average of 14:50 per game.

The Bruins management is so stupid in this game! They just trade the rights to Joe Colborne to Carolina for Aaron Ward.

Yes. In my game they waived Recchi! Of course he was claimed off. AI also waived Madden and Holmstrom

Both claimed off, of course... But not by me

I am also not that impressed with Hejduk, he does gets his goal and average a point per game. But I don´t feel that he steps up when needed, I have actually demoted him to the second line as it also gives a more balanced team.
Svatos is my number one scorer for me, I really like his skating ability much more than Hedjuk.
Why did you waive Salei, hi is great. I belive that he i my current number one scorer at the blue line. I would waive Preissing or Foot if I had too. It also nice to have some backup you know! As I use Quincey on the left wing I need all of the D that left. I don't understand how eric1985 manged to get Quincey's position to LW as I am now in Feb and no changed. But I don't complain Quincey has a above 8 Avr and are contributing nicely.
And again I need to say Tucker is garbage, the sad thing is I still will have him on the team next season. There is not much options around and the rules are quite harsh, but he will get as litle time as possible on the 4th line or even benched.

That's the worst part. And all you can do is sit there and watch.

Who does look the Stanley Cup contenders in your games, Red Wings looks great in mine. I am doing really good and are neck on neck with them but my personal record with them are really bad. Another team I really have trouble with is the Flames Ingla and Jokinen are killing me every game!

On top of waiving Recchi in my game, they waived Thomas and then waived Rask at the end of the season with no discernible plan to replace them

That's just ridiculous!
Seriously, I always watch the Bruins moves (because they're my favorites in real life) when I'm playing as another team. They will make a move for a forward and ship out a key piece of their defense. Then they go and make a deal for a defenseman involving a forward. It's an endless cycle. They're constantly trying to do something but going about it the wrong way.

The Canucks and Flames are the best in the West in my game. The Red Wings and Ducks aren't too far behind them though. Things are a little more even in the East. The Bruins lead the conference but only 6 points separate 2nd place and 8th.

For me it is Ducks, Avalanche, Stars, Wings.
In east: Sabres, Lightning, Capitals, Hurricanes.
Interestingly....Pittsburg is 12th in the East. Leafs and Isles bring up the rear. In the west Nashville and Edmonton bring up the rear.

Amazingly... the Islanders are 3rd in the East in my game.

Heh. I was laughing at where they are in mine especially after all the additions they made in the offseason i spoke about earlier.
And to me seeing Tampa at the top of their division and three teams from the South East in the top 4 points is just bloody silly.
