Hey. I didn't want to start my own thread, but I wonder if I can get this answered here.

As of now, we can't alter the salary cap in a saved game. Is there any way we could go about trying to use this tool do so? Or would a hex editor be needed?

Thanks.

No, you'll need a hex editor I'm afraid.

I am trying to switch coaches on a team with this updater, but I can't seem to get it to work. Any help with this?

If that's all you're doing, I'd use the PreGame Editor http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=6745

For the Updater you need to use the correct template for inputting data, I think you'd want contract_update or something like that (you can't use the exported files to input data, you need to use the correct Spreadsheet Template...click on Spreadsheets at the top of the Updater screen to create the needed files for inputting data)

Would someone mind explaining to me step-by-step how to edit NHL player and non-player attributes using this pre-game editor (which I managed to successfully install)? I don't understand the manual's instructions on how to open a database & make changes.
I want to work on v.7.3 (vanilla) in the Early Access edition of EHM, and I'm using OpenOffice.

Fubbage wrote:I don't understand the manual's instructions on how to open a database & make changes.
1. Open the Updater, click on File in the top left corner and then select Open Database, and you will then be prompted to select the DB

2. Once the DB is loaded up in the Updater, you need to Export Data (decide what you want to export or export all, and then press the Export button)
You will now have exported excel files with the data from the DB you selected

3. Select Spreadsheet at the top of the Updater screen, and then select Create Spreadsheet Templates.
This will create the blank excel files needed for importing data into the DB

You can't use the same file with the exported data to import changes
You have to use the Spreadsheet Templates to import data

- You use the exported data as a starting point
- You make the edits you want to, and then copy/paste your desired changes into the appropriate Spreadsheet Template
- You then import your changes by using the Updater to import the changed/edited data from the Spreadsheet Template back into the DB

Midas wrote:I've been having some frustrating problems with the Updater of late. I'm trying to wipe a database and re-import players. I've exported all staff and placed them in the format required by the staff_new file. However, the game does not seem to be recognizing any of the NHL teams (teams are unmodified, using 7.3 start of the season database). The error being returned is "CLUB CONTRACTED & CLUB PLAYING FOR" and "CLUB CONTRACTED" (the former if both are set to NHL teams). This makes no sense, as all are present in game, unchanged. Have you ever encountered this?
I emailed Midas the solution to this problem, but thought I should quote it here too:

I needed to use a hex editor to look at your staff_new file in order to get to the bottom of this one! There is a strange invisible character located at the end of each NHL team name in your staff_new file. It's not visible in Excel, but it is as soon as you view it in a hex editor.

There are two possible solutions:

1. From the Settings menu in the Updater, tick the Use Simple Matching box. Then import just those players that cause the error (it seems to work for me with the NHL team errors). Be sure to disable Simple Matching once you have done so. Simple Matching is useful for situations like this, but it reduces the matching rules which can mean the wrong players get updated if you accidentally leave the setting on for other spreadsheets.

2. Try using a csv file to import those players that cause the error. I haven't tested this, but it should work. The drawback is that I can see that you have some caron accents on some of the player names - and csv files do not support carons.

If I have the Clubinfos (or new other Infos) exported and processed, how do I get this information back into the database? In the spreadsheet templates is not the right image. I work to 90% with the editor. :dunno:

How can I change the name "Deutsche 2. Bundesliga" without error? At EHM 2007 & Editor always errors due hardcoded.

I don't think the EHM Updater allows for the importing of Club Info data yet (you'll need to use the Pregame Editor to make the edits)

You need to use the new "Import_config" file (with EHM:EA it is possible to rename the league and tournament names on import) http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 13&t=13582

Yes. You can use the Updater or the Pregame Editor to edit an EHM07 database
If you're just making a couple/few changes I'd recommend using the PreGame Editor http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=6745

If you're looking to play using EHM:EA you would import your EHM07 database into EHM:EA and then start a new game
Currently the only possibility for editing an EHM:EA saved game is the EHM:EA Assistant http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=125

I am playing EHM 07, and had already started a game a decent amount of years in and was basically trying to edit names without having to start a new game.

When I try and load a saved game it crashes at 78 percent. Hoping to change the salary cap because it's stuck at 36 Mil.

The short answer is that the Updater cannot edit the salary cap I'm afraid.

The crash might be because you're using a compressed game (but I thought I added something to stop it loading compressed games).

Can you take a Saved Game and convert it to use in Pre-Game Editor because I have one that stops at Assinging Club Rosters and can't figurer out what Team is causing the Priblem in Pre-Game Editor and don't want to have to redo Rosters because almost have then up to date?

Are you trying to use the exported files to import changes? you can't do that
You have to use the correct spreadsheet template for importing (see page 9 in the Updater's ReadMe for detailed directions)
