St. Louis Blues sign on Martin Brodeur as Assistant GM, because hey, today is the perfect day to make a weird NHL move...

Let's go Rangers! Please show us last game was a fluke
Usually under AV we bounce back after bad games like that, hope that continues tonight :)

Hey, at least if there is a goalie shortage during a game the Blues will have someone to come in an emergency and win the game right?

....right?

:-D

Meh. I don't buy the Babcock hates young players garbage. Seems to me he won a Cup with a couple of pretty young now superstars with another team other than Detroit leading the way. Detroit has had a luxury of stud vets and good young prospects who had to fight to crack a lineup and failed. I also do not buy that he just "assumes" young players are weak defensively. Seems to me Getz and Perry got alot of icetime back in the day.

Babcock makes as sound a decision on lineup as virtually any coach. If he hated young guys Mrazek would not have basically replaced Howard as #1.

But...that being said....he will go in to Toronto with an open mind on the roster. He will see what he can get from guys and if it is the same as before...they will be gone. Young and old alike. I know the Laffs should be better than what they are, and Mike has a chance to make that happen. Besides this team is full of kids who have some potential (Not as much as Laff media tells us with perhaps the exceptions being Reilly and Gardner) but potential nonetheless. It is not as if the Leafs are an old team hanging on to the last straws.
Nylander will be on the team, Kadri, Gardner, Reilly.....4 of the top 10 on this team...bare minimum will be young guys. And Mike will work with them and get what he can out of them.

They will have to be responsible and work their butts off or they are gone.

as for the Wings---same great organization, new coach. Bet they do just fine.

GO TAMPA!!! Tyler Johnson is becoming one of my new favorites in these playoffs. Hated him in Spokane, because I had ties to another team. But man has that kid come a long way. He was good in the WHL, but not THIS GOOD. How many times did Rangers almost let Kucherov behind them for a stretch Pass? HEdman gets puck, Kucherov takes off up the middle. New NHL stylish breakout plan for the future.

CHI-ANA: Three goals in three shifts and 37 seconds, five goals in five minutes and one second, 3-1 to 3-4 to 4-4, unbelievable!

Better not be 3rd OT again...

I'm lovin' these playoff games. Again an OT game. How's it possible that Toews always steps up when they need him. 2 goals in the last 2 minutes so the game goes to OT.

Really glad our young Finns had a great game. Vatanen and Teräväinen 1+1. 8-)

Hope the Hawks could find a way to win not in OT though. That's such a close serie!

Hawks just lost their first game 5 or 6 when a series was tied 2-2 forever. They were something like 14-0 going into this one.

That team just never gives up. Never has never will. They are sooooo good. So hoping Chicago pulls this out and we get TAmpa=Chicago final.

Well, Ducks has lost a 3-2 lead two seasons in a row. Let's hope third time's the charm! ;)

I didn't see the game last night because I had an entrance exam and thus had to sleep but, according to the recap, both goalies could've saved one or two of their goals. Exciting series nevertheless!

Read a rumor that DeBoer might be named head-coach in San Jose. I've got a bad feeling about this.

Game 7 it is for the Western Finals too. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to see the actual game due to my graduation from senior high which is being celebrated on Saturday.

I've noticed a few NHL signings from the KHL lately...
Because of the rubel crash earlier in the year, add the war to that and you have a lot of uncertainty so they want out, atleast those are part of the reasons.
Maybe this is affecting things...apparently there's current consideration for a rule that would keep Russians in the KHL until age 28 (i.e. not allowed to go to NA)http://www.thehockeynews.com/blog/russi ... a-fetisov/

That's probably what happened with the Flyers in EHM 2007! :D
