This deffinitly doesn't look like the Habs that want to fight for Stanley Cup in their 100th year anniversary. And it reminds me of my Islanders results in the current challenge. Lol.

What's up with all of the Lacavalier trade talks? I thought Tampa gave him and St. Louis both NTCs. Which is why they had to trade Richards last year.

I really don't understand the Tampa franchise.

They added alot of talent and they can't win.

Why trading Vinny is the cure for their woes is beyond me.

They did win back few years back. Stamkos isn't good enough yet, he'll be a stud, but not just yet.

I'm excited for deadline day, to see which teams will go all out for a playoff spot or bottle it in the hope of a higher pick. The western conference is so dang close at the moment.

Vinny will be hard to move.

1. He will have to waive NTC, which instantly limits teams dramatically, to Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Detoilet, Chicago, Boston, Pittsburgh, San Jose, and perhaps a couple others. Out go places like Flo, Nas, car, Phx, Edm,

2. tampa will demand picks for him, and not everyone has enough of them, or are not likely willing to give em up. Van, Tor, SJ, Buf, Bos, Dal.

3. tampa will want players for him, and not everyone has enough of them. Out goes any team not in the playoff hunt

4. He has a big arse contract and not everyone has enough room for him now or in the future. Out goes Phi, NYR,

5. Teams would have to have a need for that type of player-Van, Cal, Was Mon, Ott, Chi, Atl, etc... no Detroit, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Dallas (unless TB takes Richards back for him)

6. Teams would not be in the same division as TB. Out goes Washington, Atlanta

7. Teams would have to be in the playoff hunt. Out go Ott, Ana, Tor, LA, StL, Atl again.



o to me...unless it is Sedin, Sedin for Vinny type situation, there are very few teams that will go after him. And that would be a huge type risk for TB, if the Twins or the UFA to be's don't want to stay there.

Well, certainly a bad return at the time (I was shocked, even if I wasn't a big fan of JT's playoff game), but considering it allowed the B's to sign Chara and Savard, and turned into having Sturm, Kobasew and Ference,... it actually did work out well for both teams - gave us a horrible 2006-07, but... what has SJ done?

Nah, worst trade is the last one that mustardstew mentions. But there are others that are starting to look like complete one siders, such as Lebongo to VAn.

Not sure Calgary can afford to take Vinny's salary in the upcoming years. They already have big contracts for Iggy, Kipper, Phaneuf, Regehr, and Langkow for the upcoming 5-6 years. Sure, they can include Langkow to get Vinny, which would solve part of the cap issue. They can also include Aucoin, who's an overpaid upcoming UFA but should provide experience to the Bolts blueline and monitor Meszaros, who's really struggling since he's no longer paired with Chara. If the Bolts take both Langkow and Aucoin, and want to add a pick to that, Calgary will most likely ask for another player/prospect/pick to go along with Vinny. Honestly, i don't see Sutter chasing Vinny, although i'd love to see him centering Iggy and Cammalleri But then the Flames are still needing a real #1 center, and look strong enough to (finally) make something this year. Not sure Vinny will be the top choice though. There are also talks about Olli Jokinen being available... If any of them is traded to Calgary, it will probably happen pretty soon, as Sutter isn't a big fan of deadline deals. So if he pulls the trigger, i guess it will be before the end of the week.

It leaves Montreal... But with all the speculations about Kovalev, who would he center there? Tanguay? Hem... Not that tasty... Or maybe Erik Cole, as the Oilers are rumoured to be interested in Kovy while sending back a package including Cole... But that's maybe too many ifs to waive a NTC, although Vinny already expressed the fact that he'd enjoy playing in Montreal... Then what Montreal should send back? Chris Higgins is always rumored when trade talks are focusing on Montreal, but that wouldn't be enough. A center? Koivu seems untouchable there, and Lang is injured with no return date. Kovy? Why not... Or maybe Price, as the Habs are used to handle their goalie stupidly Then the Habs would probably have to deal their 1st round pick, as the 2nd is already gone in the Schneider deal. So they would either overpay for Vinny and struggle even with him, or make too low of an offer and see it turned down.

After reflexion, that's maybe the point that puts Calgary as frontrunners for Vinny... Montreal is forced to overpay for Vinny, so not sure they'll do it. Which would leave Sutter all alone at the negociation table, with possibilities to offer a fair deal to the Bolts. Or he forces Gainey to overpay to make sure Montreal will no longer be dangerous on trade tables, and then go all after Jokinen, knowing Phoenix is mostly forced to sell due to their economic situation, and so there are good deals to make there.

I'll take that, although Tangradi was our only left wing prospect who is showing some kind of good play in the OHL, and we lack LW in the whole organisation so giving up 2 may not be the smartest idea. And that must mean Prongers going, hopefully for a left winger.

I love deadline week when the Ducks are involved.

I've heard lots of "Pronger to Boston" talk and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm sure he could be a great help on a Stanley Cup run but I'm afraid he's cost too much to acquire and I'm really hesitant to see them give up a lot of our young talent. That's been one of the Bruins' strength. Plus, how would Pronger fit in with the rest of the team? Do you mess with the chemistry?

Yeah, Pronger has a huge contract, and Chara does arguably the same thing. Wideman has played good enough for you guys this year, i don't think you need another defenseman, i'd love to do a trade with the B's as a Ducks fan as your talent at the moment is immense, and not sure about your prospects which would most likely be involved too.

Like i say though, the Ducks need a LW, Kessel and Lucic for Pronger.

I wouldn't give up neither Kessel nor Lucic for him! I'm thinking maybe an NHL ready prospect or two and a pick. I've heard lots of talk about Lashoff not really being a fit here. He could be part of a trade package. I've also heard talk about Sobotka and Hunwick in trade talks and I don't want to see either of them dealt. Karsums might be a good prospect that is near NHL ready. For non-prospects, I've heard Kobasew's name tossed around but I think his style of game really fits the Bruins.
