Also Ference had a good debut tonight: 6 hits, 2 blocked shots and a +1...welcome to Boston, Mr. Ference!!
B's have won 4 out of 5 lately
And Sturm has been scoring lately. He must be trying to look good for visiting scouts so he can get traded soon.

My habs are dying... What the hell is happenning whit them, we're playing ok for the 3 last games but nothing seems to works... We cannot score a single goal against the Panthers... Sadly for us, fans, we play tonight against to most boring team in all the NHL the New Jersey Devils. Plus, we didn't win against them at their arena for like 8 years now... -sigh-...

I noticed too that the Habs have some difficult times actually
But Huet still play well
And i don't understand why the Habs give so many starts to Aebischer...
Huet nearly always do great games while Aebischer oftenly makes mistakes...

Well, Äbi is not a bad goalie, but he was always a bit irregular, really...
Still, I think that the Habs made a good deal when they shipped out a struggling Theo (with his 5 mill. contract) for Äbi.
....and seriously Shadd...Huet is (or lets say better was) a huuuuge surprise....I saw him playing in Switzerland years ago and he was good, but I never thought he could become such a good goalie.

Well, the Habs have just been nailed with a doozie tonight. 5-2 loss to the Devs. Now, to be honest, I saw that coming. But then we lose HUET to a 'lower body injury'. Unbelieveable.
It really can't get much worse for MTL at the moment. They're playing weak, uninspired hockey and no one on the ice seems to give a rubbish. Even Captain Koivu, who used to be the fire in this lineup, is looking like he's dragging ass out there.
What Montreal lacks is a true star player in their lineup. What they have at the moment is a bunch of talented players who aren't inspired/don't care/won't try. Bringing in ONE guy who works hard and has through the roof talent would force everyone else on the team to step up and pull their weight.
I hope Gainey pulls a trade before the deadline because it may be too late to save the season already.

Players work hard for coaches who can get them to work hard. Having a coach who comes out and blasts his most consistent defenseman and then benches him (Rivet) for a game, and then blasts another player publicly without giving any credit to anyone causes issues. Sorry to say it folks but Montreal could trade for an extremely hard working lineup and still have major difficulties after two weeks. They have a coaching problem. The guys on that team are not respecting their coach. Bottom line is, until they do...they will not do anything...at all.
This team has a major dressing room problem. Trust me, I have seen it in Vancouver several times. There is something not right in the room. The real leaders are not being followed, and their is a split in the room. I said it before (after the Canucks game way back in this thread... Jan 16 page 11, and I hoped it was not true...but it appears it is)
Guy may be a great coach one day...but he is not ready. In my mind I keep hearing him yelling at Kovalev, Higgins, Ryder, Samsonov, Koivu et al...." WHY CAN"T YOU GUYS PLAY THE WAY I DID? AND THE WAY BOB DID? GET OFF YOUR ARSES AND DO IT!" In both French and English this just comes across as silly. Montreal will not win and will not get the most out of its stars, until they get a different coach.
Guy is not the guy. (heh, wrote that and then realized it looked funny...I like it!)

Sorry for the long post. But I hate seeing the Habs have no pride and desire. Even though I hate the Habs, almost as much as the Leafs, they are a storied franchise and it sucks to see the state they are in right now.
Watched Canucks-Habs tonight. I hope this is premature and the Habs get things together. However, I saw a team play against the Canucks tonight that just not give a rat's a**. Not just the usual suspects (Kovalev, Samsonov, et al) but Koivu, Souray, Markov, Higgins, and basically the entire team.
Yes this may have been the Canucks best game of the season from top to bottom in the lineup, but man was Montreal brutal. Souray and Kovalev especially and they were booed every time they touched the puck by Habs fans. Sometimes, Montreal fans are actually knowledgeable.
Back to the point...Carbonneau scratched Samsonov and Rivet tonight. They are not hurt or ill. I get the Samsonov scratch, as he is at best, a 1 in 5 game player. Rivet however to me, other than Koivu is the heart and soul of that franchise. Even if he makes the occasional blunder...he still plays his heart out.
Carbonneau then gave Kovalev tons of ice in the 2nd period even though he was clearly not interested in being there. And then benched him for most of the third (3 minutes of ice time). Not dressing Rivet, and leaving Souray on the ice when he had been absolutely horrendous, and not playing the heck out of Koivu and Ryder...two guys who usually care, makes me wonder. Me thinks Carbonneau could be losing a grip on the Habs. Too much old school? I think Guy has no idea what to do with his team.
Clearly, neither did Bob Gainey.

Flea: Yes, Huet was a big surprise, especially last season when he won the save percentage award for his first accrued season!
And even if i followed him a bit in the last decade, i never thought he would become such a good goalie! I knew he was better than many thought, but i never thought he could do so well! But he's a hard working man, who always wants new challenges to reach, and so always have a reason to work harder and improve.
He could have been a lot better if he played in north america earlier in his carreer, with better goalie coaches. But no matter, he's a good goalie and the french world of hockey is hardly proud of him
About Aebischer, yes it was a good deal to get him for useless struggling overpriced Theodore
Aebi is a good goalie...when he wants to be so...
Just take a look at the goals allowed by Huet and Aebi, and you'll see there's a huge difference! There's also a huge difference on the motivation and determination they show on the ice, and in the results as well. That's why i really don't understand why Huet isn't playing more often, as he really will to play and nearly always have good games, even when all the Habs team is sleeping or let the opponents shot easily just to watch Huet's saves...
IMO, the Habs MUST be active at the deadline! Samsonov, Souray, and Aebischer should be shown the door for their lack of determination which will be nothing but a handicap in the playoffs.

How do you make a deal for a guy who nobody would take for free? With both Huet and Kovalev out now this team is done like dinner so I really doubt that they'll do anything but fold their tents at the deadline or deal looking to next year.

Sure
But Samsonov isn't the only one who doesn't do the job, so Habs still have to make trades.

Holy Adam Oates... I think the habs just make in one period the number of shot they usely do in one game on the fabrurary months... We did 18 shots in the first period...

Not only that, I just heard about Huet needing hamstring surgery. I'm listening to the game on MTL radio and they're saying he'll have the surgery tomorrow and obviously is done for the season.

Well, the Habs have strung together 2 wins in a row - against sub-par teams, but we'll take it.
Halak has looked really good for a kid getting his first 2 NHL starts.
Ryder was dominant tonight after being invisible for the longest time.
Also, Higgins went down with an upper body injury and didn't come back to the game. Hopefully, he's not out for long because we need all the offense we can get at this point.

Wow, the officiating in the Calgary-Colorado game was horrible. It was like that Subway commercial where the official says, "I totally blew that call! But don't worry, I'll penalize the other team in the second half to even things up." Of course, Sakic gets away with a trip on an Avs powerplay, which directly results in a Colorado goal. Of course, not long after, Skrastins has a ridiculous penalty called against him, then another penalty against Colorado. Of course, the Flames manage to screw it up.
Then, the Flames get away with EVERYTHING until just over a minute left. Then, Hamrlik gets called for skating too close to an Avalanche player. At least the refs are consistent in how much they suck from game to game.

I can't believe my ears right now! I'm listening to the Habs-Preds right now and the Habs have just completed their 4TH comeback to tie it at 5 with 40 seconds left!
Incredible game. Halak has looked awesome AGAIN, and that's without any help from the rest of his team. 2 of the Nashville goals went in off Habs D-men.
Ryder also scored again, which makes him the hottest hand on the team. He has certainly stepped it up at the right time.
Go Habs!
