Enjoy Wings fans! muahaha Another first round exit for "Hockeytown" coming right up!
Gotta love trash talking from a fan whose team is 20 points out of the playoffs and almost the worst in the divison.
I've made it very clear that I feel that the team ownership and management as well as personel decisions have been, are currently and continue to be terrible. So that my hometeam is admittedly a total joke does not factor into my opinions on trades, but if you want to discount them because of that fine.
I find Detroit's "Hockeytown" claim odeous at best, an attitude of superiority that is neither earned or deserved that is carried obnoxiously to look down your nose at the rest of the league and hockey fans in general. The most obnoxious and disrespectful sports fans I've ever seen are those wearing the Wing in Chicago's United Center. So yes, I make no secret of that I detest everything about Detroit and their hockey team. The only thing I had respect for was Scotty Bowman who is a fantastic hockey mind and great coach and Steve Yzerman who was the prototypical leader/captain. I've made both of those clear as well over time. Now however? They are just a sad group of overrated players whose fans think they are easily 15x better than they actually are whose hopes ride on the most overrated goaltender of all time which is in a way fitting I feel.
For me? I laugh at Detroit not being able to get any "big ticket" players at the deadline because they have no prospects to offer from their mainly failed efforts at buying themselves the Cup so they can feel that they actually deserve the self-given title of "Hockeytown". This Detroit team again averages what 35? This year will be like whenever Detroit would win the President's and then get ousted in the first round because the team of hired guns couldn't play as a team. Why would anyone think this year's team has any better chance?
And if you want to talk about sad performances? Yes the Hawks are terrible and have been for a very long time, but how much sadder is it to get swept in the first round AND also have no future like the Wings? Nobody expected this sorry assed collection of half-talents to do anything so is it surprising the Hawks suck again this year? No. But then they haven't dubbed themselves "Hockeytown" and can't make it out of the first round. I find that even sadder.
And Detroit needed
something at the deadline and all they got was a lockerroom/attitude problem who may or may not be able to play. So yes, I laugh. Just as I will when the Wings are making golf reservations a week or so into other team's marches to the Cup Finals.
You see, there is a difference between trash talk and truth.

Ya, guess there is.
There are no prospects? Just because Detroit isn't hanging out in the cellar all the time and just because they don't wish to give up their best prospects, they don't have any?
By the way, the average age is 31. So...

Well, yeah, but according to Babcock, he's a
huge, talented locker room/attitude problem who may or may not be able to play. That's much better, isn't it?

Talent only carries you so far. For Todd...speaking from experience...His talents have in his NHL career carried him:
1. To a non playoff team in New York, where he underachieved.
2. To an underachieving team in Vancouver, where he underachieved especially in the playoffs.
3. To Mar 8, 2004 where he overachieved in the attitude department.
4. To a press box to watch his underachieving team collapse.
5. To a courtroom, where he will probably show attitude.
6. To another underachieving season, where he overachieved in attitude and singlehandedly caused a team with tons of talent to make the playoffs.
7. To Florida, where he underachieved, and got injured.
8. TO Detroit because of his lack of work ethic, injury proneness, underachievability, and attitude.
Now he has alot to prove...Free Agent, so if the underachieving, attitude problem actually plays ... HE HAS TONS TO SHOW! Talent wise. But talent only gets you so far. Todd has not shown the willingness to go the extra mile, except when it comes to being a yapper, moron, poor influence on teammates, and locker room jackass extraordinaire.
All that being said, he may actually in a short period of time help the Dead Things do something. Yes I call em the deadthings, cause they have shown a propensity to be: Underachieving, talented, lack or work ethic dorks with attitude problems. Hmmmm...perfect place for Todd.

This is just a wild guess, but I think batdad is not Bertuzzi's #1 fan.

While this is true, I think batdad is just kinda cranky in general.
But I defniitely agree that Bert will fit in well in "Hockeytown". He needs money to pay his lawyers, so he'll step it up in Detroit to score a big payday in July.
Cheers.

Crankiness had nothing to do with it. The givaway was when he called him
Todd.

YEah I was nice. I never called him "THE BONEHEAD FLOATER" as he is known around dese parts.
I could have been Bert's biggest fan. I just see how much this guy can do, and he has shown only negatives to me, other than for part of one season (Jan-Mar) the first season he was in Vancouver. Other than that I saw a self-obsessed, Type A personaility, who did not put out the goods to back up his Type A.
Plus...some example an arse-hat like that is for kids. Any time I see a kid wearing a Canuck 44 jersey, I immediately speak to the parent (if I am coaching) and ask what the heck are they thinking teaching a kid to be that rude, that lazy, and that much of a general A-hole.
Now...I am sick of those who feel "THE TODD" should have sympathy, because what he did was a heat of the moment thing. Ummm yeah, 2 weeks and 1 game and 2 periods later. Right. Wake up. Cheap shot, asked for by his buddy and his coach.
I would love to see him turn his career which is spiralling like flushed poo around, however, he has shown nothing that says he will. Mebbe Detroit, mebbe not.
Edit: Yes I am cranky, old, and a dad. But mainly I am a guy who "gets" hockey, gets kids and enjoys watching strong, talented, hard working hockey players who can skate. I am also honest to a fault. I say what I think, when I think it. Wish I could say all those thing about Todd (well mebbe the last one applies to Todd-if he ever thought!), if I could ... he would be ahell of a role model, and I would be his biggest fan. So far, such a waste. He could be one of the best ever.

I would like to ask your opinion of Chad LaRose.
He has a cult following here in Carolina... we call him the Tasmanian Devil because he is unpredictable and "vicious".

The 5'10' 20 lb Chad Larose is soooo tough, no one will challenge him, as witnessed by his 10 PIM. Oh wait, maybe that is because he won't go in the....
his nickname the Tasmanian Devil, comes not from his wonderful facial hair styling, but the fact that....

I actually do enjoy Starbucks Caramel Apple Cider. So, uh, yeah.

I consider the coffee at Tim Hortons to be plausible, but more often than not I can't stand the aftertaste. Otherwise I don't complain, since I'll drink any coffee or tea put in front of me.
But really, is no apostrophe accurate? The first one and thus the chain were named after him, so I'd assume that the name would be posessive and thus use an apostrophe.

Yes I am literally staring at about 5 empty cups. Messy house I have eh.
Hmmmm another article. Hockey Fans faceoff with Flames fans....Starbucks vs Hortons. Who is the real tough guy?
Psst...McDonalds coffee won a blind taste test over both. Scary.
Topic: Bertuzzi is an egghead, the Flames trade for Hale is laughable, and the Habs got Michael Leighton. BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
