Hey thanks for the tips I appreciate it. I will have a look around as to what fits the team for tactics, and any further moves that might help in the draft, etc. Thanks again!

I haven't done Campbell any favors by keeping him down with the Legionnaires.
I started out the first round of the playoffs matched up against the Soo and quickly ended up down 3 games to none. I've since come back and won the next 2. Let's hope I can keep it going!

We completed our comeback against the Soo! We went from 0-3 to win the series!
Now I've got Owen Sound in the second round. They're the second seed (we were fourth) and we didn't have much luck against them in the regular season (1-3-0). Should be interesting!

So first 25 games into the 2nd season, we're 20-1-4. On a massive winning streak since we got Landeskog.

Now at 22-1-4. 1st in the league and CHL. Ahead of Erie and Windsor by 12 pts.

Just set the OHL record for 12 consecutive wins. Won by nobody else but Landeskog getting a natural hat trick in the last few minutes.

And I've started off the second round the same way as the first. I lose the first 3. Now I've won 1. Let's see if I can turn this one around too.

Good luck B! With any luck, I'll be 1st seed and favoured to win the Memorial Cup this year!

Well, I tied the series back up at 3-3 but lost game 7 by a score of 4-1. Oh well! 2 rounds and out again. This looks like it should be a good draft at least. Now I've just got to get simmed to that point.

My team is pretty poor. I have just stared, but Francisco seemed to be my best player even though he is only 15. I was glad to have Arniel come back, but their are way too many centers on this team and a clear lack in right wingers.

So I'm in the 2008 OHL Priority Draft. I'm drafting #14 and I see the RW I've been waiting for. Nathan Staal is 5'10" 171 lbs at age 18. He's already got elite level NHL physical attributes and a 19 work rate. He's a power forward with 1st line potential, projected to be like a more talented version of Shane Doan.
The highest ranked player still available at my pick is a goalie ranked 7th overall. The funny thing is his name. His name is Boston Messier. Odd!

Okay, so my 2008 Priority Draft had more talent in the late rounds that the 2007 did overall, or so it seems. For some reason I have 2 4th round picks. Any idea why?
Rd1 Nathan Staal 5'10" 171 lbs RW
Power Forward like a more talented Shane Doan
Rd2 Andreas Maxwell 6'3" 169 lbs LD
Skilled Defensive Defenseman like a bigger, better, but slower version of Robyn Regher
Rd3 Richard Allen 5'11" 154 lbs RW/LW/C
2-Way Forward like a more talented version of Branko Radivojevic
Rd4 Kyle Needham 5'11" 149 lbs LW
Defensive Utility Forward like a more talented version of Ryan Barnes
Rd4 Jeff Cousineau 5'10' 145 lbs G
Hybrid Goaltender like a poor man's Pekka Rinne but with a smaller frame
Rd5 Lance Raymond 6'2" 196 lbs LD/LW/RD
Skilled defenseman like Brian Campbell with a bigger frame
Rd6 Kody Thinel 5'9" 154 lbs RW
Power Forward like a poor man's Martin Havlat with a smaller frame
Rd7 Russell Cuthbert 6'1" 207 lbs LD/LW
Enforcer like a more talented version of Brooks Orpik
Rd8 Davin Ciampini 5'11" 183 lbs LW
Two-Way Forward like a poor man's Cory Stillman
Rd9 Anson Jean 6'4" 165 lbs LD
Stay-at-home Defenseman like a poor man's Robyn Regher
Rd10 Dale Briere 6'2" 185 lbs LD/RD
Stay-at-home defenseman like a bigger, better version of Rob Meanchoff
Rd11 Red Petit 5'8" 169 lbs C
Two-Way Forward like a poor man's Samuel Pahlsson
Rd12 Mickey Leverman 6'2" 160 lbs G
Hybrid Goaltender like poor man's Christ Osgood with a bigger frame
Rd13 Carman Babcock 5'10" 163 lbs C/LW/RW
Two-way Forward like a poor man's Samuel Pahlsson with a slower stride
Rd14 Colin Gingras 5'11" 147 lbs RW
Two-Way Forward like a poor man's Nickolai Zherdev
I'm very pleased with my draft. I'm looking forward to signing a good percentage of these guys and using them in season 3.

Sarnia dealt then team captain Jordan Hill to Saginaw for Kyle Flemington and a 4th rounder

Well I really got ahead of myself in this challenge. I like to post a little write up with each game segment but I completely blew it this time. Doing it each segment helps because I have a better idea of what's happening in my game. Right now I'm actually in the second segment of season 3, but I'll try to briefly get you all up to speed...
Season One:
I hired John LeClair as my Head Coach and Gary Roberts as an assistant coach. (This will be key for season 2) I brought in Roman Bashkirov (who was luckily let go from his Russian club) and he played LW on a line with Arniel and Kerbashian. They were my top performers and we ended up 39-25-4 for season one. We actually won our playoff series against Kitchener, but were beaten in the 2nd round by the powerhouse that is Windsor. Some key parts of our first season:
3.38 Goals for average
3.07 Goals against average
14.8 % Powerplay with 72 goals
84.8 % Penalty Kill with 85 goals
The season ended with a horrible OHL Priority Selection Draft and an equally horrible CHL Import Draft. (which basically means I made horrible picks)
Season Two:
Halfway through a really poor performance in my second season, John LeClair was signed away to a GM position (in the WHL I think). Remember that I said that he was a key part of the team? Well I couldn't get Gary Roberts to sign as my Head Coach, and I screwed up by signing Bob Ferguson as my AGM. As a result, the Head Coach position was vacant for about a month. I finally broke down and promoted Mikael Tisell (whom I hired in the first season) to Head Coach. The teams performance dropped for season two, I think because the loss of Arniel and Bashkirov. We ended up 33-32-3 and in 5th place. Not bad, considering that we let in more goals than we could score. We won our first playoff series against Guelph in six games but lost to Plymouth in 7 games. Here are our second season stats:
2.92 Goals for average
3.04 Goals against average
14.3 % Powerplay with 69 goals
81.4 % Penalty Kill with 99 goals
I think that part of the problem is our overall roster and the other part is my tactics. I may have solved both of these, and I'll post an update as soon as I can.

Finished the fourth regular season last night and now that I'm writing down the stats I'm noticing some interesting facts:
We scored more goals than any other team in the conference.
We allowed less goals than any other team in the conference.
We had the most PP opportunities in the league.
We scored the most PP goals in the league.
We were the second least short handed team, and the eight most penalized.
We allowed the fewest number of PP goals against.
We had the top goal scorer in the league. By an eight goal margin. Playing six fewer games than the second place guy.
I think I will just wrap up this season and be done but the deadline is still a long way off so who knows.

That is a clear breach of the rules, as we are not allowed to sign any free agents

He's not a free agent, he's one of Sarnia's unsigned prospects.
Roman Bashkirov
"5.4 You may sign your unsigned prospects (prospects who have never previously been contracted to your challenge team) at any point after starting the game until 1 October (inclusive). Further, you may also sign your unsigned prospects from 1 May until the following 1 October. "

You must have been using a different database as he and that finnish goalie prospect is not in Lidas 2.3

Huh?
Please Manimal, I don't want to argue with you--- but I have participated in previous challenges and I understand the rules.
I am using Lidas 2.3. I just double checked by re-downloading Lidas 2.3 and starting a new game. Bashkirov and the Finnish goalie are both there.

Timmy_t is correct. I remembered having Bashkirov's rights at the start of the game but just to be sure, I loaded up a new game with 2.3 and we had rights to both Bashkirov and Tomi Karhunen.
Manimal... are you sure you're not thinking of a newer version of the DB that you're working on?

Ritchie and Campbell both went to the Florida Panthers (who lost to the Red Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals). Ritchie went 15th and Campbell went 165th. Meurs to the Coyotes 66th overall.

That is weird. I have never seen them on my Sting list and I was part of the testing of this challenge. Oh well, guess I'm the one with a flawed database

Won another cup (and the memorial) in season four, here are the draft results:
#31 LD Sarault (18G 29A) San Jose
#72 G Marttinen (2.96GAA 0.891SV%) Montreal
#101 C Low (15G 44A) Tampa Bay
#133 RW Michaud (29G 27A) Atlanta
#145 LW MacLean (21G 30A) St Louis
#183 RD Duchesne (11G 35A) Vancouver
#208 LD Pageau (GOJHL) Pittsburgh
Looks like Ritchie at #7 is my best result by far.
