Then of course the rerating of our system as a whole no way Alex Killorn's potential is know yet at this point should be a -7/-8 or -14 coming out of college. Cory Conacher as well rookie AHL player wins the MVP should be more of a -14 than a -7. Best info on Norfolk and the rest of the kids in our system is found at BoltProspects.com
There are a few guys from college that signed with NHL teams after March 1st that does not exist in the database. They will, of course, all be created
Killorn's potential is hard to predict. He was set as -13 this fall
After a look at him and Conacher I am leaning on setting them as -7. I don't think they'll get up to 160 in CA
We did not use HF-ratings last year(some researchers might have, but it was not a rule)
As a reference you definately should use everything at your disposal. Again HF has a listing of prospects in the system so I guess it's somewhat valuable
I watched a ton of the Admirals games during the end of the year and the playoffs. He came in and was easily the best player on the ice during some of those games, pretty impressive for his first 30 games of pro hockey.

Of course
It was looked at but earlier years we used their ratings solely to create PA.

I am fairly new to this game and these rosters. I was just wondering if rosters would be updated soon for the NHL with the new draft picks. I am guessing it will be later on in the summer so that you can do the draft and free agency all in one update. I was just wondering if there was an expected release date.

Sorry to dissapoint you but the next release will probably not be out until the season starts.
We are in the process of updating ALL players in most leagues so it takes a lot of time
Plus, the rosters won't be set until then

It's not a problem. I'm just thankful for all the time you've put into this stuff. Keep up the good work!
Edit: Is there a way I can transfer the players' rights using the pre-game editor? Also, will that mean they will be taken out of the draft?
Edit Edit: Okay, I found out how to change the rights. Do I just select the club then that's it? Do I need to enter any draft information? Also, if I set the start date to 2012, will it go straight to the 2013 draft and consider the 2012 draft completed?

I chose not to add it as it was a conditional pick and no way of telling what they would decide. Columbus has now decided on the 2013 pick and it has been added to the db

Yes, the game will consider the 2012 draft completed if you start it in Aug 2012
If you do not add the draft info, it will have some (smaller) effects on the game but it will be playable

Awesome, thanks! So if I set up the rights properly, players like Yakupov and Murray will no longer be draft eligible, correct?

Yes, unfortunately the game was made before the KHL. In game the Russian Superleague has a hard-coded amount of teams in it. The top teams from the standings get the top places. The rest are put in the 2nd league (VHL)

Do we maybe want to change the message at the top of the page to be a generic "Where is team X from League Y" message?

Sorry if this has been said already or already fixed, but on the Manimal 4.2b roster Alex Galchenyuk's place of birth is listed as Kalamazoo, MI, USA when it should be Milwaukee, WI, USA as seen here:

Dan Jansen, the former gold medal winning speed skater, is in the database as a coach. He was the skating coach for the Chicago Blackhawks from 2005-2007. Anyway, they have him as being a "Technique" coach, when he should be a "Conditioning" coach.

I have updated the pink announcement box.

Do you know if he has coached anywhere since 2007? If not, then I am retiring him

Not anymore. He's a motivational speaker now.

Then there is no need to keep him in the db

Due to hard-coding I will have to move around a few minor league teams in North America.
The AHL has three teams too many so Albany, Binghamton and Texas will go to the ECHL.
That leaves the ECHL with one team too many so Trenton will go to the UHL with the SPHL teams.
The CHL has seven teams too few so I will move in the seven LNAH teams into the league. Not the best geographical situation but it contains the right number of teams

Maybe I should make the text in the pink box a little larger for the next season!
Although it's not 100% representative of real life, I like the prospect of being able to coach some new teams.

Although I suppose we now need volunteers to research the ECHL, SPHL and CHL/LNAH?

And then there are also some European teams that had to move

It is not representative of real life, but I like the fact that I now have the exact number of teams as are playable in minor league hockey.
I'd love to have someone research these leagues. It is hard to find scouting reports on the players.
I am doing the transactions for these leagues. I have been doing this for quite some years now, even before my EHM-editing, and I am not giving it up

I think that is a bug.
The game sees him as a European and since he was drafted in 2009, let's go of his rights. The game does not seem to qualify him as a college player(and thus having his rights for four years after his draft and not two as with europeans)
I don't think there is anything I can do about it

Would updating his Player Info data make any difference? I.e. if we added that he'd played x number of college seasons, etc, would this make a difference? Maybe not, but it might be worth checking to be sure.
