So far so good. Season opener Kuznetsov had 2G, 1A and Yak had 2A, Bura was quiet though. 4-3 Win

I have to laugh. Early December 2015-16 season, FLames fire Hartley. On Dec 15.15 Flames hire my former AGM Laurence Gilman as head coach.

Gilman proceeds to go 9-19-5 and is fired on March 1 2016. Think Burkey should be canning Treliving. Calgary is currently 13th in the west. Only Phoenix behind them

I hate them NTCs!

Deals get canceled due to them and if I discipline players enough to want out, then I can't get much in return

Yah...that is the whole idea Manimal. LOL.

As a note...last 10 games....Linden Vey 12 points. He seems to have found a home on the right side with Scheifele and Brock Nelson. He now leads the team in power play points and I have been going at about 20% last 15 games.

It's so fun how different everyones teams are and which players perform, for me Vey is a fringe player, in and out of the lineup and does nothing when he's in :P

Laugh even harder..2 days later Treliving canned by Burke. A week later they hire....drumroll please

JAY FEASTER as GM. ONly thing as funny was if they hired Gillman.

Yeah it is amazing is it not. Vey for me has been streaky though.

But the last month or so he has been fairly solid only a couple of 6 ratings. He plays mostly third line, but for a few games got him on 2nd line with the aforementioned guys and he was good. Tampa put an end to his points in 10 of 11 games streak. Tampa is only team ahead of me in overall standings.

Vey stat line.... (note team has played 68 games, so Linden who has not been injured has missed quite a few.

56 11-14-25 (Most of those 25 have come in two big spurts similar to the one I mentioned above) His power play totals? 5-9-14

60 games in and I have a 3-way tie for most assists. :) Baertschi, Conacher, & Weber all have 29 assists. Jensen & Kuznetsov are right behind with 26 each.

Also, only Chris Tanev has played in all 60 games. Conacher missed 4 games with an injury, but still leads the team with 65 points. I was very lucky and he went out just before the all-star break. The Canucks didn't have an All-Star rep because of it.

Finished season 1 dead last, with 14-58-10 LOL, worst season ever in my EHM career :P My main problem was in the net, where I was loosing by large margin, or by one goal and it was pretty frustating :P Niklas Jensen finished with 29 goals and 57 points, while John Klingberg had 42 points, to be my best d-man.
Spooner(51), Conacher(50), Sekac(47), Baertshi(44), Bonino(37) and Sbisa(37) where my 30 points or more scorer. I'll begin Malcolm Subban in net next year I think, while hoping landing Chyrchrum at the draft !!

JUST finished trading (yes, I'm slow! Only took me all weekend...) I'm not sure how I feel at this point- I felt like I couldn't get anything great like some of you managed, just lots of good with potential. I made a point not to see what trades you pulled off to test myself a bit. I also leaned more toward prospects, and realistically at the speed I play I won't get past 3 or 4 seasons, so unless it's Mc/Eichel, I probably won't get the benefit of getting more picks in time.

Looked at the Mueller and a 2nd deal a couple of you took, looked hard at Ortio (IIRC would cost me Miller and Elder), but really couldn't seem to shake any big names or top 10 picks off the tree without giving up 4+ players for one thing.

Burrows to Sharks for Tierney
Hamhuis and Hansen to Florida for Gudbrandson
Vrbata to Chicago for Rundblad
Sedins to Preds for Forsberg, Jarnkrok, 2nd and 3rd rounders
Edler and Miller to Pens for Matta (I'm not going to lie... the Pens fan in me probably overvalued Matta, and then I realized I just chased my favorite player out of Pittsburgh by making Fleury the backup. ](*,) )
Higgins to Florida for Olsen
Bieska to PHX for the CHI 1st rounder, PHX 2nd rounder.

We'll see how it works out, man I'm hurting for NHL ready forwards...

Side question- O'Reilly- cut or resignable, as I think his 9/30 birthday puts him RIGHT on the line.

Vancouver Canucks E-News - 2015.16 in Review
New GM Shane Elliott restocked the team this season and no one was super-excited for what was to come. Still having a primary goal of "winning a few," the team managed to scrape together 21 wins over the season. We finished dead last, but boy are there some promising players in our system!

Where are they now?

Radim Vrbata, traded to St. Louis on June 8 - Waived prior to season start. Went 44-55-99 in 76 games for Chicago Wolves (AHL). Traded for 2 1st round picks (Jeremy Bracco and Matej Tomek).

Traded for 6 draft picks, Liam O'Brien (Utica, 2-5-7 in 21 gp & 2-8-10 in 38 games with Vancouver) and Evgeny Kuznetsov (15-34-49 in 79 games with Vancouver).
Canucks mainstays who saw improvements this season:
Zack Kassian had career numbers, going 21-20-41 in 75 games and was awarded Best Offensive Player for the month of April (4-4-8 in 5 games).
Yannick Weber had career high points and assists, going 2-40-42 in 80 games.
Sven Baertschi had career numbers, going 26-41-67 in 76 games.
Cory Conacher nearly doubled last season's numbers, going 44-40-84 in 78 games. He was selected for Team Stamkos for the All-Star game.
Nicklas Jensen also had career numbers, going 43-36-79 in 81 games. After the season, he returned to Utica and helped push the team with 5 goals in 15 games.

A Word from the GM:
"It was a tough year, coming in 30th. But the team needed a true shakeup. I did the best I could and the promising starts for Baert, Cory, Nick, & Eugene (Kuznetsov) means we should have a fantastic year next year! There will still be changes and expect to see some more young guys jump up to the bigs!"

Finished 1st season. It was painful. :) 12 in the conference. I thought I found something in the Q3, where after changes in tactics we went 14-6, but no. Q4 again under .50. At least I'm happy with our powerplay — 18.8%. And traditionally it's pretty hard for me to go above 15%.
On the bright side we were the best in goals scored in our conference. Second best in NHL.
PK was terrible. Absolutely terrible. 75%, worst in the NHL. Something needs to be done in that area next year.

Next, players.
I have 6 guys who scored >60 pts this season and 4 guys with >30 goals. I like to see that. Kassian surprised me with his 27-16-43. With his Deflections I kept him on the powerplay in front of the net. It payed off I guess.)
Kadri was a beast. Almost point per game with 30-46-76. Bonino stepped up in the second half of the season and scored 58 assists. Good job.
Rielly was our best defender with 56 points and 7.45 AvR (best in the team). He even went to the all-star game.
McDavid grows fast. Next season he will play in the NHL, I guess. At least I'll try him there.
Dorsett was bad. Matthias was really bad. And now they don't want to sign new contracts. So maybe I will let them go.

And also I made a big mistake. Somewhere in the Q2 I was furious at Lack and waived him to send him to Utica. And of course he was claimed. So I'm left with 3 goalies now and Markstrom doesn't want new contract too. At least Demko is becoming a beast, I will sign him for next season. Think I should draft a goalie. :)

So with the season winding down i'll give you an update on the prospects. Utica couldn't defend their title from last season, lost in the conference finals against Charlotte Checkers. Jensen had a massive playoffs with 15 goals in 15 games and will be a top-6 players in the NHL next season (He was up there during the second half of this season already). Shinkaruk, Tierney and Horvat (tore his ACL and missed playoffs but will be ready for next season) all had good seasons and will fight for roster spots next season. Joakim Eriksson will probably either be my backup in NHL or get traded, haven't decided yet, all i know is that i want Demko to play in Utica. Clendenning will fight for a roster spot next season aswell as the only Utica D-man. Both Blomstrand and Cassels did pretty good in their middle-6 + PK roles and hopefully they develop so they can fill out the bottom-6 in the NHL in a few years.

Kylington and Lindgren both developed nicely over in Sweden (Both played in SHL) and both will come over to the states next season, Kylington looks like he might become a beast, not sure if he will play juniors or AHL next season, might even challenge for a spot on the big team but i doubt it.

Andersson, Provorov, Orban and Spinozzi all played juniors in Canada and they all did well, especially happy with Orban who looks a great prospect. He's big, good with the puck and not a terrible skater and he elevated his play during playoffs, i really like him.

Virtanen was 3rd in scoring and was voted the best player in WHL and will fight for a roster spot next season, odds are he starts in AHL though. Nikolishin also had a good season in WHL but he is still quite far from NHL, he's tiny.

In the OHL we dominated, our 5th rounder Andrew Mangiapane won just about every award possible by scoring 105 points, he lacks size though so we'll see how he develops. McCann also had a great season with 82 points and great two-way play, AvR of over 8, he will play in the AHL next season. And last but not least we have Mitchell Marner, he didn't dominate as much as i had hoped but he did have a better season then the season before so that's good. He will probably stay in juniors for another season, his size means i will take it slow with him, elite skating.

Philly won the lottery so i draft as #3 (Senators were useless and last, i was 29th).

Before the draft i released Acton, Fox and Cannata and also worked on a few trades. In the first one i sent Eddie Läck and Shawn Matthias to Oilers for a 2nd rounder and 2 4th rounders, in the other trade i sent Luca Sbisa to Coyotes for Jason Fuchs.

On to the draft.
#3 Jesse Puljujärvi RW/LW - I really wanted a winger so it was between Puljujärvi and Grundström, close decision but i chose Puljujärvi because of his size.
#32 David Quenneville RD - Great physical and mental attributes.
#39 Jack Lafontaine G - I wanted Alexander Nylander but he went as #38 so i stocked up with a goalie prospect instead.
#92 Quinton Wilson RW - HUGE.
#99 Keoni Texeira LD - Great skater and good offensive skills.
#101 Troy Timpano G - Need to stock up on goalies.
#122 Owen Mueller LW - Another big winger.
#152 Dawson Davidson LD - Decent offensive D-man, small though.
#182 Raphael Maheux LD - Another decent offensive D-man, not small.

I'm probably signing Puljujärvi and sending him to juniors.

Edit: Just looked at Demko again and he is +2 on almost everything, i might just put him as my #1 goalie right away, what a beast :)
Edit2: Decided now to take it slow with Demko, he will play AHL this season, don't want to lose Eriksson or Markström on waivers as i only have 3 goalies and the 2 i drafted are far from AHL-level.

So I finally got my hands on EHM:EA and the first thing I did was download this savegame. Unfortunately Burrows got injured before I was able to trade him so I put him on waivers before the draft and will release him (or not, he was claimed by the Coyotes). I also wasn't able to land any of my top targets: Forsberg, Skinner, Ristolainen, E. Kane. I still got some solid young players such as Yakupov and Bjugstad.

Image

Tampa also won the draft lottery in my game with the Flyers pick, that is not going to be fun ](*,)

My draft picks:
#12 Kyle Connor
#42 Jérémy Roy
#48 Rasmus Andersson
#82 Kevin Spinozzi
#90 Parker Wotherspoon
#102 Rihards Bukarts
#132 Loik Léveillé
#148 Kord Pankewicz
#162 Alec Baer

Drew Douhgty has won the Hart :-o first defenseman to do so in 15 years, right? darn, these trophy decisions are definitely more interesting than in EHM 2007, especially Norris and Selke, which were won by Douhgty and Kopitar (Datsyuk and Bergeron were the runner-ups).

Board wants me to improve the team's roster this season, I don't think that will be possible with the challenge rules unfortunately... :(

Staff is looking like this:
AGM Dave Pryor
HC Guy Boucher
ACs Glen Gulutzan, Roland Melanson, Joel Otto, Jim Paek

Projected lineup for next season:

Baertschi - Bonino - Yakupov
Conacher - Bjugstad - Jensen
Jenner - Zibanejad - Vey
McMillan - Matthias - Kassian
Dorsett

Sbisa - Tanev
Stanton - Savard
Wikstrand - Weber
Sanguinetti

Lack / Markstrom

I'm hoping to avoid finishing in the bottom 5, we'll see how that goes. Still not sure what tactics I'll use, I might go with a strict defensive system to help our weak blueline, or maybe run and gun offense to let the young forwards get some confidence?

Wow, Kylingtons attributes just exploded over the summer, he's probably playing NHL season 2 for me now if he has a good camp. More or less all his attributes went +2 over the summer.
