The current CBA expires in 2011, but the NHLPA has the right to extend the agreement for another year, through the conclusion of the 2011-12 season.

Thanks for the info. So at least we have another few seasons of NHL hockey before we're faced with another mess.

I really won't another lockout but.....maybe if there is another one in the next few years, Gary Bettman will finally be fire and the NHL will be more healty than the last 15 years, that's my wish.

This is not a big impact news but Eric Perrin is going to Russia, he sign with the Avangard Omsk. He was a great 3rd liner at Atlanta, too bad.

darn, the only thing we must do is just to assasinate him! Lol it's just a joke.
When the time will come it's gonna be our job, the real hockey fan, to speak and do something about this, we must make Bettman fired.

Yes we can!

Derick Brassard make new 4-year-contract with Blue Jackets (current contract expires in 2010). He earns about 13 mills.

The Ducks trade Jason Bailey to the Senators for Shawn Weller. And Ducks also add Steve Eminger. The Ducks are all but set for the new season if you ask me.

I thought he take is retirement last year? The Wings love to take a chance with some old goalies, but instead of Osgood, Cloutier wasn't great the last year he played.

Apparently he has been an assistant coach on his brothers team Corpus Christi IceRays of the CHL and he approached the Wings about the tryout.

Unless they are giving up on Jimmy Howard, I don't see this happening. Howard is now eligible for waivers and likely wouldn't make it through. Of course, the Wings may be looking to give him an AHL contract to back up Larsson in Grand Rapids if McCollum is sent back to juniors. Personally, I think Cloutier is a choke artist and wouldn't like to see him on my team.

Leafs have reacquired their 2nd round pick from Chicago for next years draft. Offer sheet imminent methinks.

Yep, it's seems that Burke what to try to take a RFA.....like Kessel at Boston. Now he got is first, second and third round pick and he is in good position to make this deal. Some people saying that Burke is frustrated that Charelli didn't accept a trade at the 09 draft ( Kaberle/Kessel )......so it's some sort of revenge.

I've heard speculation that they're going to give an offer sheet to Kessel.

Dunno, Dubinsky and Stafford still unsigned too and seem to be closer to what Burke usually prefers.

Burke go search all the picks he needed for a big time player like Kessel, if it was just Dubinsky or Stafford, i think he would already make an offer, Toronto doesn't need a Dubinsky or a Stafford, the club is full of player like them, they need a big offensive player. Honestly, the Leafs got an pretty good D-line but on offense......well there not much to say about it. They need a really good offensive player to start and Kessel is one of the best available, they need a first liner, not a second or a third.

I think you underrate Dubinsky or Stafford if you think the Leafs are full of players of that quality. If an offer sheet was to be tendered to either of those two a second round pick would probably be required too (compensation for an offer between 1.3 and 2.6 is a second round pick, which seems just the right range for both), just as for Kessel. Not that I don't believe they're after Kessel, but he doesn't seem to be a Burke-type of player so I wouldn't rule out other options just yet.
Anyway I don't see a way Chiarelli can match an offer sheet even if it's just 3.5m. Sturm is the most expendable of all top 9 forwards but he said he won't waive his NTC. I somehow don't see the Bruins giving up Ryder or Kobasew+Ference to make enough room for Phil.

I don't underrated them, i really like Stafford, i don't see him play a lot in Quebec but i know he is a good player. For Dubinsky, i don't know, he had a good first NHL season, but he dissapointed me in is second. What i want to say it's they don't need another second or third liner, the whole Leafs team is almost like this. Dubinsky and Stafford are good, but can't contribute as Kessel can do.

Mike Comrie is going back to Edmonton, he sign a 1 year contract, don't have the financial information though.
In another case Phil Kessel announce that he will not accept a contract with the Bruins and he wants to play elsewhere.

"Hey Kessel... don't let the door hit your in your rear on the way out!"
He wants far more than he's earned and the Bruins wouldn't give it to him so now he's throwing a tantrum. Really, he's a RFA who is going to miss at least the first month of the season. He hasn't played a complete season since coming to the NHL. The Bruins offered him a deal similar to Krejci's and he turned it down. That was a fair deal. I'll be happy to see the Bruins take a package of picks and prospects for him. I know Burke has been very public about trying to land Kessel. I've also heard that Nashville and the Rangers are interested.
