Holtby who was asking for 8 M$ per year got 6 per year for 5 years. That's already better than 8 freaking millions. :D
Semin might get a reality check by going down to that salary level. He might actually perform now!? We'll see... It'll be interesting to see in what line he'll end up.

With Therrien if he doesn't score for like 3-4 games he will go down fourth line. :D

Toronto has offered Bernier 2.89 mil per year. He wants 5.1. :-D I hope they don't overpay him.. I think 3 mil is fine for him.

MTL signed Galchenyuk for 2 years for 5.6 M$ in total. Nice deal!

Good for MTL. That's pretty cheap. But it's a short deal. Might be an expensive guy after those two years..

Yeah it's a risk but I like those kinds of transition contracts. If he performs ok then it will be an ok contract and if he explodes it's a very good contract. Better than already giving in 5-6 years at 5.5 M$ imo.

Jake Voracek signed an 8-year, 66$ million deal which locks him up until he's 33 :joy:

But if he explodes then you're looking at well over that 5.5 mil in those other years. If that happens you're looking at not having a good contract on the books, but looking at 7 mil per because of the transition deal. Same thing they did with PK. Gotta lock those kids up long term to what will be good contracts.

If Galchenyuk explode with the potential this kid has, 7 millions will still be quite cheap if we look at the salary of some players. :D But I would prefer paying him right away at 7 millions for I dunno 6-7 years than paying 5-5.5 M$ for 5 years if he do barely 40-50 pts the whole time.

There's definitely an argument both ways. Sign them to a transition deal if you've got the cap space available to pay out the wazoo for them once that transition deal is up. Then again if you sign them to a long term deal you could end up with a steal of a contract or a terrible, untradeable contract on a guy who didn't pan out.

Some cool pictures of the progress thus far on Edmonton's new rink (apparently on budget and on target for the opening of the 2016-17 season) http://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/topstori ... =AAdCN2d|1

Thanks for the link. Bad injury, looked very serious. Hope he is really healed.
Alessandro, do you know what kind of player Kalinin is?? Seems like a hard working guy with good work ethic (was C in Omsk). By his scoring numbers in the KHL he seems like a "typical" Devil. :-D
I'm very anxious to see who makes the all new Devils-lineup this season.....

Auston Matthews (potential top pick in next year's NHL Draft) is not going to play Major Junior, playing in the NLA as a pro instead! http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/aust ... d-not-whl/
For him and his situation it makes sense to me; it'll be interesting to see how he does

I guess he was originally expected to play college hockey, I think. Then he passes up both college and junior to play in Switzerland. That's pretty bold but he will be playing against men instead of boys. It could help make him more NHL ready when he's drafted.

Seems like Patrick Kane could be in deep you know what.

Could make him more NHL ready, or it could make his draft stock drop. Definitely a chance to take for a guy who's projected to be the first overall next year. I think it's a good thing to see him take that risk though.

Patrick Kane needs to stay away from the Buffalo area and drinking. He just finds himself getting into too much trouble.

A rumor is that "they" (dunno what it is called in English... NHL Coaches association or something similar maybe?!) would wanna change the Jack Adams Trophy to Scotty Bowman Trophy. According to "journalist" Ranud Lavoien from TVA Sports.

I like the old school names. I don't know that I really want them changing. Also, if you're going to name something like that after someone, it should be after they're dead.

some crazy personnel moves between nhl-organizations this year.

half of the penguins staff (and ex-staff) signed with devils (shero, fitzgerald, hynes, nasredinne....)
now the leafs hire from the devils....first lamoriello now jacques lemaire.
maybe fired head scout david conte is next??
maybe both teams should change names: The evil Penguins from Jersey and Maple Devils.... :-D
