You enjoy my Geoff Ward. He's a great coach, but be aware that he has the personality of a block of wood.

Not Asian, Native American
and yes, that name is more Norwegian than Swedish but we have it, too

The city of Johnstown, PA won a competition, Kraft Hockeyville USA, and will get to host a pre-season NHL game between the Pens and the Lightning. This is a cool promo for it:

P.K. Subban is going to give 10 millions to the foundation of the MTL Hospital for kids! Talk about a nice gesture, we don't see very often huge donations like this from the players. Or maybe it's only because the MTL medias are crazy over it and we don't heard anything from other players.

Still, nice move.

Very classy move! This is why hockey is the best. The players are real people like me and you.. just they make a little bit more money

Well not all the players would do that tbh. PK proves again he's one of a kind. He even did his speech in french!

The "C" on his shirt.

That's gotta worth 10 millions.

Proud of what PK did there. Good job! Motivation for it does not matter. It is like the twins in Vancouver who just keep doing more and more for the area around here. Great people do great things, and PK is becoming more and more of a great person.

Yeah, that's more than his full year's salary. Imagine giving your year's salary away. Awesome show of unselfishness and good will.

Puts everyone else in a bad light, though. Now that everyone knows that professional athletes can afford doing that, there ought to be questions why there are not more of these stories. Yes, I know many give money to charity, but for example, Lionel Messi gave some 100 000 €, even though he surely earns significantly more than Subban.

Pro athletes, imo, were always in a "bad light" about this subject. I mean, everyone knows they are making millions after millions. Nobody speaks alot about it because it's a waste of time. Now that PK did that, he totally deserves the credit for it and I hope it could lead to some kind of example for the futur.

NO it does not in my opinion. One person's generosity never reflects on what others do. Especially since others do it outside of the limelight and do not want the exposure for doing so. Sure this one time gift of 10 million is huge. But...there are others out there who give a fair bit of their salaries (be it athletes or otherwise) who do so in smaller chunks over a long period of time.....it does not reflect on anyone else, nor should it. And it should also not reflect on PK ...as in people trying to say it is him showing off or trying to show he is better than others. He just did what he felt to he could do. So do others.
There is nothing wrong with that, and there is nothing wrong with the publicity for it, and it does not make me wonder anything about any one else and what they do or do not do. It is not a competition. Others may give like I said, or they may not. I mean, who knows what Sid gives or Alex gives to places in terms of time and money.
The twins in Vancouver had a donation of $2 million come out either last season or the season before into the public. They did not want it to, but the charity--believe it was BC Children;s wanted to make it public. They did, and the twins went along with it. THe team also wanted some stuff they have done to come out. Trevor Linden has given millions of hours and $ to charity here, and it stays for the most part quiet. Because it is smaller amounts. But a $10 mill donation. Great job.
My comment is not to say PK is greater than anyone else for what he has done...he gave a ton in $ for sure. and it is just a comment to say well done young man. Not often a guy that age puts out that kind of $$ or percent of income for something he will not benefit from, and it is good. But it does not mean he is better than anyone else, just that he had a priority and it was something he wanted to do. Great job PK, and the others who do work behind the scenes..kudos to them as well.
Sure there are some greedy guys out there, but honestly ...I am 46 and I sure as heck would not give up even 5% of my income to charity or anything, because I cannot afford it. FOr a 20 something to donate over a year's salary to anything is awesome.

I think Jonathan Toews is pretty involved in charity too. That doesn't really surprise me coming from him though, he's such a nice guy.

So Max Pacioretty has been named the new captain of the Canadiens. Not really a surprise there but I'm happy for him. Good choice imo.

I doubt it.
Maybe he'll stick with the Baby Pens at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

The Avs signed Johnson to a 7 years deal with a salary around 6 M$. I guess it's an "ok" deal. The price per year seems fair to me, he's a good two way BUT his freaking injuries, always the same with him since he started his career. That's why I think the 7 years are too much. Johnson should be only allowed 2-3 years deals.
