Looking at attributes, Chychrun looks better in my save a little. But Day is very reliable Dman for me so I can only recommend him

Chychrun's looking much better in my current save, even though it's said prospects develop better for AI teams.
Day
Chychrun

Pretty impressive - how do you handle his strength and rebound control?

I'm genuinely impressed that his creativity is a 5 out of 100.

^fairly standard for a GK template. Poor strength, creativity, speed, anticipation, balance.
I'm also impressed he managed to get him to sign a 6 year contract on those wages...

Was his last year (entry-level). Actually 5 years (4 million/year)

That's fair enough then! Good price for a top goalie.

So I got McDavid after my first season with the Coyotes. Should I be looking for him to spend the year with the Coyotes or should I have him spend more time developing?

Not sure there's a consensus on that. I played McDavid on line 1 and PP, plenty of minutes. He's developed into the best centre on the game. But maybe could have been better in the AHL/juniors for a year?
This was prior to the stats drop though.

I opted in the end to send him back to Erie. He was my 5th best center and I could have found him a spot, but I felt he'd be best off spending another year there. His mental attributes are all great, but his technical attributes could use some improvement so that's why I opted to give him a year there and the intention is to find him a spot in AZ next year.

Yeah I am wondering about player development. In 2007 i thought guys developed too quickly (first off season...just boom) but now I am seeing a very very slow development of my guys. In the first year thought it was coaching in Lehigh Valley, but made changes and brought in stud coaches...seeing not much development.
I have been playing EHM freeware again and the development of prospects seems similar in freeware and EA. Slow development until you get them to the minors. I have also noticed that putting lower ranking prospects in the ECHL developed them Faster than the ones I put in the AHL. I tried it with my top prospects and it also worked wonders in regards to growing atts. What I noticed is that putting a few guys in the ECHL, they get to play like 30 minutes a night. The ones who do well down there and play those minutes, can potentially be ready for NHL play without the AHL play.

I honestly don't think there's any hard and fast rules, after 13 years with high draft picks almost every year some players just bust no matter what, whilst some come good in the AHL, some in juniors, some seem to be best by stepping up to the NHL straight off.
It's impossible to tell where they will develop best, but it's frustrating to see so many busts in my team due to poor human development whereas AI development bonus leads to some good players from lower down the draft. Heck the best Goalie on my game was drafted 188th in the 7th round!

It's tough to know what to do with them, but I figured since he was at 5 in the depth chart and it was either juniors or NHL, I'll give him a year in juniors and hopefully those technical attributes improve. I'm just really hoping I don't Lindros up McDavid.

I think his hidden attributes and ice time will help more than what league he plays, but it'll be interesting to see what happens. Since the stat drop he might not be able to step up straight away anymore. The key thing is he plays, definitely don't keep any good players on 3rd/4th line with no extra minutes.

Is there any idea how CON works in this game. Is there a set value? It would be cool if CON could be a variable.

Yeah I need to have him get minutes. I'm leaning between Portland next year and offloading Hanzal (it's either him or Arcobello and Arcobello has been great for me) and plopping McDavid on the second line. Just have to wait and see where he's at.

Arcobello is a real performer, I think I had him on line 2 for a few years with McDavid on 1st.
Hanzal was terrible for me so I ditched him for picks/prospects. Can't remember the other centres but don't think there was anything too special.

Yeah he's been my 2C but playing on the first line on the power play. He was second on the team in points last year behind Bødker. Vitale is still my 3C but I'm looking to ditch him sooner or later. Picked up Zach Hamill to play 4th line garbage minutes.

Vitale was on 3rd for me also, Hanzal was the worst of all 4 centres by far, barely posted above a 6 average (and this was before the stats drop).
I luckily got Franzen and drafted Forsbacka-Karlson so I did give up Arcobello eventually. Those 2 were good for me though, cheap contracts.

Might be moving to get rid of Hanzal very imminently. Burmistrov is a RFA still unsigned in December. His rights were traded to the Blackhawks who are too close to the cap to actually sign him, so they keep offering him a contract then withdrawing their offer. If I can get him then Hanzal will get the boot. Vitale has been pretty much useless for me this year, but I'm not getting Burmistrov to throw him on the third line. Vitale's hovering right above a 6 average with 9 points. Hanzal has 16 points through 33 games with about a 6.5 rating.

If my 19 years old goalie prospect looks better than my current backup goalie, is it better to let him continue his junior work for one more year or sign up right away?
thanks

Young goalies usually needs to play much so have him where he can be a starter
