Actually, I have them set at April 29th as European contracts end on April 30th
College contracts end on May 1st
Major junior contracts end on July 14th

If I gave a Russian an 11 year contract that expired June 30, 2017....and also had a Transfer Date set for July 1, 2017 - if it worked and the player stayed with his team (because of the transfer date) and then transfered on July 1st...what contract would they have when they transfered? Or is contract length part of the transfer data that needs to be inputted into the Extra_Confug file?

Yes in my test it did work! All players went to the NHL after the transfer date and none transferred before their date.

I didn't look to deeply into the contracts. But if "player A" had a three year contract and the future transfer was set five years down the road, the two years between his contract ending and future transfer he got a contract that would leave him one of the best payed player in the specific league. Rembember that i bumped up the ratings.

The contract after the future transfer was basicly the same as before the transfer.

When you view a player with a future transfer date that is a couple of years after his contract expire it says that the player will earn zero, but when you get into that season the player has a salary.

I tried this, using Tretiak and Mikhailov (both were given 1 year contracts that expired April 30, 2007), and here's what I put in the Extra_Config file.....

"FUTURE_TRANSFER" "Vladislav" "Tretiak" "Moscow C" "Moscow C" 29 04 2007 0 757500 3
"FUTURE_TRANSFER" "Boris" "Mikhailov" "Moscow C" "Moscow C" 29 04 2007 0 757500 3

And every time I started up a game as an NHL GM, as soon as I clicked on "Approach to Sign" the game crashed!

NOTE - The game loaded up OK, but I did not sim ahead to see if they stayed on Moscow C, I immediately tryed to sign them as an NHL GM

FYI Initial testing results resulted in many young players needing to be recreated (because NHL teams were able to sign them before they were drafted!) and continued editing of European/Russian players to try to ensure they stay at home at start-up....and then there's the ongoing editing/improvements that I have planned and want to get to (for details please see post #1 in the testing thread where I maintain a "things to do" list http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 40#p136440)

I work at a school, and I'm off for "Spring Break" March 24th to April 1st (giving me opportunity to get a lot done on the 1974 db).....at this point I suspect a second test release will occur in early April

Just a quick message to say I've started work on adapting the Mass Attribute Editor for Nino. I think it'll be ready some time in April (possibly after the second test release).

A thought/question.

A bit ago I tried to change the names of the European teams to their proper names (e.g. CSKA Moscow for Moscow C, or their period-accurate names, where applicable, e.g. Dynamo Berlin for Eisbären Berlin, etc.) When I tried to start a new game, the game had a conniption... is there a special method for unfaking that needs to be used, to not have the (to me) annoying fake names like Moscow C and Tampere I, etc?

Uh-oh, I don't like that...I too want to "unfake" the team names.....as a general principle/rule, you can't just overwrite a team, you have to
#1 create the team you want
#2 transfer players/staff to the team you want
#3 have the new team replace the old team (clear the old team's Division/Other Division and they'll join the hundreds of "Not Assigned" teams already in the database)

I myself create (essentially defunct) Leagues to put the old/replaced teams in; for example the test database you have has Leagues like "WHL Moved" and "QMJHL Moved" EDIT - As the following two posts show, this was not a good idea!

One thing I've noticed is that the WHL moved league is acting like a regular league though the teams I looked at have a lot of players older than junior age but they seem to have stats and everything.

Well that's not what I want! The "Club Status" for all the teams is "Invalid" so I thought I'd be OK (I'm guessing OHL Moved and QMJHL Moved are the same).......For test version 0.2 I'll just make the teams "Not Assigned" (Club Status - Amateur & Division/Other Division blank) like the defunct team names that are in the database

I'm just posting to say there will not be a public release in early April.....early May is more likely.
This is NOT because of "bad news" but rather a lot of great work on the database is getting done and it just takes time.....it'll be worth the wait!
I'll be posting a "status report" tomorrow in the Testing Results/Feedback thread regarding what's being worked on (it's been a very productive week off!); I continue to maintain/update the "things to do list" (link above)

I’m revising the estimated release date for test release version 0.2 to “sometime in May” – the adding of historical AHL/CHL players is incredibly tedious and time consuming…a public release won't occur until after a successful test release

In modern EHM the top minor pro Leagues (Reputation) are the AHL (14)…..then the ECHL (11)…..then the CHL (9)..…and then the UHL (7)
In the 1974 db I’d like to have the AHL and CHL be equal in terms of Reputation and player quality, and the ECHL and UHL will be my lower Reputation Leagues; because I’m now creating all the players for the AHL/CHL, including determining CA/PA, I can make the start-up player quality equal. Anybody see a possible problem/concern with this idea?


I found Archi’s most recent post in his Data Editing Blog very exciting! I love the idea of being able to remove the Shoot-Out from the 1974 db NHL…..and I think I’d like to try limiting the foreigners in European/Russian Leagues to EU only…

There is a hard-coded thing that AHL-teams can sign players from the CHL,ECHL and UHL but not the other way around. The three lesser leagues also can not sign players from each other

While I still intend on adding additional historical players to populate the CHL, I wanted a break from the tedium of adding players, so for now I’ve moved on to working on editing the teams in the CHL (and I’ll probably look at “connecting affiliations” too)…

Arch- Yesterday I also used your "Mass Attribute Editor" to edit Adaptability, Loyalty and the three Reputation attributes for all UFAs and staff who are contracted to a non-North American team.....as far as I can tell so far everything worked!

I've written a simple tool to reset all of the Dates of First Pro Contract thereby fixing the overwritten players bug (latest info about the bug is here). Would you like me to send this to you? Perhaps, if you're interested, you could apply it just before you release the second test version so that users can give it a thorough test?

I’ve been keeping busy moving back and forth between a few different tasks this last week – I used Archi's tool to reset all of the Dates of First Pro Contract, I’ve started the work on “creating” the historical CHL players, I’ve been transferring players from the modern ECHL teams made defunct to the newly created historical ECHL teams, and I’ve been working on making the Invalid players Retired.

AND XenHL now has a copy of the current 1974 database, and will be providing me the team colour schemes (thank you!) as well as testing the logo pack he’s created for the 1974 database; XenHL has also created a photo pack for the historical NHL players in the 1974 database!

Sounding better all the time. Too bad I'm probably going to be back to work by the time the next version to test comes out. Oh well... the garden in planted and most spring yardwork is done so EHM will still find some time

I'm slowly working my way towards it. I'm currently working on various data export aspects as well as the Date of First Pro Contract fix. Then I'll be going on to the career history and then the player awards. Progress is going well and so I'm hopeful you won't have to wait too long.

Yesterday I wrote a new memory patch which no longer crashes. I'm now working on adding the ability to use some sort of config file so that you can customise what changes you want to make to the game's memory. However, I'm only working on the tool to make this possible - I'm not working on the league patch itself. You're probably best talking to Alessandro about this.

Fixed a typo for you. ;P

The photo pack also has the Europeans in it (two copies with different filenames for those whose DOB needs to be changed in a SG editor after starting a game, in case someone doesn't feel like doing those edits).

I've also collected SOME photos of non-NHLers (youngsters) who became important NHL stars over the years. However, I haven't touched any of these yet and so they're not in the picture pack. It's a really very tedious and boring job that I kinda regret having committed myself to... but that said: the photos ARE done for the Europeans already in the DB and for the NHLers who are in the NHL at the start of the game, plus NHL-contracted AHLers and juniors. I MAY end up doing the pics for those players who became major stars down the road, but probably not.

The colours are sorted too, I think - posting that in the other thread.
