11 games in. Lost twice so far. Once in regulation, once in OT...both to Tampa Bay.

My leading goal scorer has FOUR goals. His name? Zach-Sven Nick-Jensen Hunter. Long name for a back of a jersey.
My leading assist getter? Jacob Trouba with 8
My leading point getter? ANother long name of SIX guys. NINE points each.

Hunter Shinkaruk is 4-5-9. 4th line (now 3rd line a fair bit as I HATE Conacher) and is tied for team lead in scoring. He was NHL Rookie of Month for October.

Made my underage trade. I sent Brandon McMillan (who I had sent down at camp) off to Tampa for Nicolas Petan (22 year old centre) as Rakell and Matthias are not getting the job done for me, which made me play Vey at C, and he always plays poorly there.

Petan comes in...he has played three games and has three points alternating between 4th and 3rd line. Giving him a shot on PP as I am not happy with my Centre position.

Bonino may go, but I need a C back for him and I am not getting the deal I need right now. He is still unhappy and wants to be traded. Man that one day I disciplined him really upset him.

Woo-hoo! I won my first game of season 2! :joy:

Oh and I got Burmistrov from the Lightning for Matthias. I'm hoping he's a late bloomer.

Yay Bruins! LOL
Burmistrov for Matthias is a good deal even if he isn't a late bloomer

Through 20 games. Only losses...both to Tampa, 1 in OT 1 in regulation

Highlights

1. Nick Bonino 11 game point streak as we finish off the 20 gamess.
2. Hunter Shinkaruk...kid is crazy. Averages 13 min 48 seconds of ice time, which has been increased almost every game. His stat line? 8-8-16 +13 27 shots o PIM 7.68 AvR
3. Nicklas Jensen--just scores all the big goals. Kid has 4 GWG already, and Shinkaruk has 3.
4. Linden Vey--inconsistent but....5-5-10 5 Power play points.
5, Jacob Trouba 3-12-15, Yannick Weber 3-9-12 and Chris Tanev 1-10-11. All have been great, and Muller Sbisa and Stanton have done well. Dillon has been inconsistent at best.

Utica

1. Jake Virtanen (rookie) 11-7-18 in 16 games
2. Bo Horvat 7-10-17
3 Kyle Connor (2015 1st) 7-5-12
4 Ludwing Blomstrand 7-6-13

All of em 16 games

Thatcher Demko? He is lighting it up. 7-3-0 1.80 .935 2 SO 8.00 AvR

The kids are alright.

Forgot

Nic Petan has played 10 games for me and is 1-4-5. Mostly on 4th line with Shinkaruk and Vey, but sometimes another LW and Kassian. Depends on Shinkaruk and Vey...how they play they move up in line combos after 1 period ALOT.

Rakell and MAtthias suck

Lineup

Bartschi-Bonino-Jensen
Nelson-Scheifele-Conacher
Morin-Rakell-Kassian
Shinkaruk-Petan-Vey
Matthias Grenier

Grenier has only played 3 games

Stanton-Trouba
Dillon-Tanev
Sbisa-Weber
Muller

Muller gets in most games, and rotate through. RIght now, if you actually get a 6 AvR for a game, you sit the next one. That has been working for last 12 games. Only Trouba has played all 20. Up front only Bonino, Bartschi, Jensen and Kassian have.

Markstrom
Ericksson. (4 games)

Totally balanced scoring on this team. Nine guys with at least 5 goals. 14 guys with at least 10 points. And Petan is on the pace for 10 in 20.

One thing I could not find... after season 2 when we can trade, the players coming in still has to be 24 or less like in the first blowing up trading spree, or the veteran age or less, starting at 28?

That's my understanding too. And it's been my bane along with the 'no signing UFAs' rule. ;)

Just finished Q2 of season 2. Lost Jensen (14-7-21) for 3 months in game #20 and Conacher, my leading scorer last season, caught up to him in game #40 (12-9-21 WTH?). Baertschi is my leading scorer with 38 points. Markstrom is my "better" goalie with 9-11-2 in 25 games and a 6.56 rating. Demko is on my team report as the #1 goalie, but he only has 7 pro games to his name in the AHL, 4-2-1 with a 7.57 rating. I had 3 goalies in Utica, so loaned out Zach Fucale to Rockford where he had a chance to play. He's 3-8-1 in 12 games with the IceHogs. Rockford also got help from a D and F from Utica: Miles Liberati is 2-3-5 in 10 games (6.9 rating) and Shane Prince is 6-9-15 in 17 games (7.12 rating).

Iiro Pakarinen is playing so well right now (7-game point streak, points in 13 of the last 14) that he got this:Image

Hooray! First 20 Games down....5-14-1 YAY! Yakupov is leading the charge with 24 Points so I've got that going for me. KUZYAKBUR are kicking ass for me 23 Goals, 31 Assists. Lack/Markstrom...not so much. Both below .900 SV% and above 3.4GAA

Panthers managed to get Hossa from Chicago for a D Prospect(LIke Edler, 3-4) and two 4th rounders...Freaking hell

Just in mid season 2 I traded Bonino+Lack for Eriksson Ek+Elgestal+Wuthrich+Tom Wilson

Image

....and Eriksson Ek is a beast!

made 4 assist in his first 3 games

Image

can't wait for the rest of season! (..but a bit worry cause Eriksson Ek is very young and still raw :-( )

Season 2 is over and we progressed nicely, Ducks completely ran us over in the first round of playoffs though. My 4 top wingers are lighting it up, i always keep Kreider with Jensen and Bärtschi with Conacher and rotate their centers. Kylington is amazing and was nominated for Calder, didn't win though since Ehlers was scoring for fun. Goaltending was a problem but next season Demko will be #1 so hopefully that solves it :)

I made a few trades before the draft where i sent Sanguinetti to Ducks for a 2nd and a 3rd, Stanton to Hawks for a 3rd and a 4th and Eriksson to Pens for a 2nd. On to the draft. I also let Linden Vey go to UFA along with a few Utica players.

#15 Bradie Sweetland C - Big and plays a two-way game, good skater aswell.
#50 Patrick Khodorenko C - Big and tough with great mental attributes.
#58 Jonah Gadjovich LW - Vanek light.
#75 Carl Christian Svendsen G - Huge goalie.
#86 Vladan Mika RD - Good mental attributes, don't expect much.
#88 Josh Brook RD - Two way D with great determination.
#91 Armand Wiotte C - Two way C.
#105 Karel Pozivil LW/RW - Huge defensive winger.
#135 Don Dineen LW/C - Goalscorer.
#165 Cendric Gentilleau G - Filling out the depth chart.
#195 Rustyn Petrie RD - Best player i found.

On to the next season, i will rework my team somewhat for this season, will have a more skilled bottom-6 to fit in some more of my younger players, Shinkaruk for example.

I don't like those trades, value wise they are fine but imo you picked up too much quantity over quality... Almost no 1st rounders and no players that can go into NHL right away.

Individually the trades are fine, some are even really good. The problem is that you didn't get a single roster player, that will give you massive problems going forward. The first draft is really really deep so in 4-5 years your team might be great with all that talent.

Yeah, i know it gonna be really a bad in 2-3years..is like massive rebuilding for this franchise with draft prospect..so the only way i can do is to call over all Utica player.

Whether they ready or not, that the only way I had..unless this challenge can claim waiver.. :-(

So my second season is starting out much better than my first. We're only 10 games in but we're sitting in 7th place with a record of 5-4-1. Only one of our losses were by more than one goal. Tarasenko leads the league in both goals and assists with 12G 5A 17P and +12. Bartschi (Tarasenko's opposite wing) is 4th in the league in points with 2G 14A 16P and +10. Eriksson is establishing himself as the starting goaltender after spending last season in Utica. Lack was traded and Marskstrom hasn't been very good. Demko is playing his first season down in Utica right now and looking great. McCann and Shinkaruk are doing very well in Utica while Horvat is really disappointing there. Virtanen is doing okay.

I haven't been able to trade Conacher yet. Right now he's sitting on the 4th line LW with Tierney and Kassian. I'm hoping something my pop up as the season progresses. I really hate Clendenning though, so maybe if I can improve my defense, I will?

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!

LOL. Clendenning cannot make my team, in Utica season 2 as well as 1. He was not eligible for waivers, so that is why he went down. Well that ...and MULLER plays his role and plays it better.

Tanev is surprising me so far in season 2. Rating over 7, plus 20 20 games in. Doing all things well. Save scoring of course, which he sucks at.

Shinkaruk though is the biggest shock. The Attributes listed above show him to be a 4th liner at best, but the kid is 2nd on my team in goals and does everything right. He is Linden Vey on steroids for me.

I moved out McMillan as my underage as he did not make the team year 2 thanks to Shinkaruk and Grenier, and brought in Nicolas Petan. He is doing well for me.

Still looking at moving Bonino as he is UFA and I Know will not re-sign since he is angry with me and wants to be traded, but the guy has been scoring and doing things right this season so far. Only 3 games out of 25 where he has not had a point.

Yeah, Clendenning haven't made my team either and probably never will, i don't like his skating at all...
