Dan Boyle to Rangers for $4.5 for 2 years, great signing. He basically replaces 2 players in one, will play the second pair instead of Strålman with Staal backing him up and gets to QB the PP.

Jussi Jokinen goes to Florida. 4 millions per year.

Seems like the Habs signed Tom Gilbert but haven't got any details so far.

Dave Bolland to Florida as well. Seems like he will earn more than 5 millions per year. RIDICULOUS.

yeah, that looks like he left some money on the table. Great signing for NYR...too bad the leafs couldn't do that but no one wants to play for us let alone take a discount and I don't blame them.

Boland has irritated me bigtime. 5.5 per actually. Jumped ship for an additional 500k per year. So much for being a good ole Ontario boy. Great move by the leafs to let him go, too bad they couldn't trade him at the deadline. We can't handle another Clarkson deal.

Mike Weaver will stay in MTL for one year. Nice decision IMO.

For Bolland it's going to be 5.5 per year. Just wow.

yup, ALMOST as bad as the Clarkson deal. lol The difference is he's going to a low pressure city (at least compared to TO) and will be decent for the first couple seasons before he's too slow on the puck. Brings some leadership as well but crazy for a third line centre.

Ryan Miller goes to Vcr, poor him lol

Hemsky with Dallas as well.

MTL also signed a deal with a 22 years old guy from the KHL. Sekac I think. Anyone know who this is?

apparently he was the most coveted undrafted UFA. They say 15 teams offered him a contract (standard rookie contract with varying bonuses). I have not been able to find his stats yet because I can't remember his name.

Vancouver shouldn't of signed miller and went for the full rebuild. Bad move, one that people think the owners forced.

edit: http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdis ... pid=122908 stats aren't all that impressive.

28 pts in 47 games in the KHL seems decent to me. Anyway we'll see him play soon enough.

Avs aquired Brad Stuart for a second and six round pick. IMO it's a decent trade. Will help alot their young defense.

Gionta goes in Buffalo as well.

So, Orpik just signed the most ridiculous contract i've ever seen, it's worse then Clarksons :D 5 year $5.5m for Brooks Orpik, ridiculous, i can't stop laughing :)

Some more great news for Rangers, Dominic Moore resigns for 2 years at $1.5M cap hit.

Capitals are stupid giving that price for Orpik lol

As expected Vanek goes to Minnesota but for only 3 years.

Jonas Hiller is a good move for Calgary BUT I wonder how he'll do without Anaheim's defense.

Robidas goes to Toronto.

First "bad" new for Rangers, signed Tanner Glass for 3 years at $1.45 cap hit, atleast 1 year too long for my liking.

I got a scary thought here, if both Sabres and Islanders go bad this season which is a possibility then the Sabres could have McDavid, Reinhart, Eichel, Grigorenko and Girgensons as their centremen in a few years, imagine that dynasty....

Iginla signed with the Avs!! Wow I wasn't expecting that but I'm so happy. I don't have details on the contract I just hope it's not too high but darn very good leader for the young guys.

Havlat to NJ and Moulson goes back to Buffalo (lol wut?) for 5 millions per year.

Iginla contract is 3 years $16M total. so just over $5M cap hit.

A little bit high to me but his experience will be gold for the team so yeah, I don't mind that.

Strålman signed for Tampa for $4M for 5 years, sounds like a deal Rangers should have been able to match actually. Feels like Sather got a bit too horny for Dan Boyle so he played hard ball with Strålman :/

Edit: Apparently it's $4.5M per year for Strålman.

Wow, what an amazing/exciting day thus far! Free Agent "Frenzy" is very accurate! HaHa
I really like the "5 day talking period" (part of the new CBA)...it sure resulted in a lot of action/excitement in a short amount of time! And not over yet...

Yeah it's surprisingly fun this year compared to the pasts years. It's been a while that I got excited over the UFA day. Brings back the passion a little. :-)

Wow just wow... Caps just went full Lidstrom guys, never go full Lidstrom.
https://twitter.c...0772196353

$11.25M a year for 2 defenders that belong in the second pair, thats just insane.

I agree that's nonsense lol

On the other hand the Hawks signed Richards for 1 year for 2 millions. This deal could be one of the best made today.

I simply don't understand it...why did the leafs not pursue Richards, even a 4 million would of been worth it on shortterm. The leafs and the rangers were his top two when he was last a free agent and ultimately he choose NY. He could of fit in nicely as the number 1 or even number 2 centre. The leafs down the middle are simply awful. Nonis really screwed the pooch on this one. High reward, low risk and they didn't do it. I don't see the leafs making the playoffs again this year...Bozak had a great year but he is no number 1 centre and I wouldn't even consider him a second line. Richards isn't the same player he used to be but with the weakness on the leafs it would of worked out nicely.

Pretty sure Richards had alot of offer above $2M, he just chose the chance to win ahead of money.

yeah, I guess you're right. The leafs could of very well offered him a large deal. He was just bought out of a huge contract so he's getting paid much more than the 2 million haha

I think hiller is going to do great in Calgary.

The Stralman deal is idiotic. He's a a good defenceman who i remember being quite capable of moving the puck nicely but they overpaid him big time. I still think he's capable of 35 points.
