Not difficult, but time-consuming.
It needs to be done manually with the pre-game editor. Just click the add new both for competitions and clubs
Looking at TBL 8.2 and Finland as an example, I see there's been Leagues added all the way down to "Upper Age" 10 - are these necessary with the new EHM? Do they actually populate?

I added such Leagues to the 1974 DB with EHM07 because it seemed to help keep players from retiring early because they showed ingame right from day one, but now that players are hidden and don't enter the game until age 14-16 I'm wondering if adding such Leagues are even necessary (I thought Bantam was essentially for the WHL, and the default Leagues meet the requirements of what's needed, making adding additional Bantam/Midget Leagues no longer necessary)

They can't possible be showing players as they appear several years later?! :-k I'm just assuming. Maybe the leagues are just empty. Someone could check in-game.

I think those are just the work of some zealous researcher. There are no teams in the D-, E- or F-juniors so the lowest teams are under-16

Those lower leagues may have been added for the purposes of player career histories (I know we have done that with the TBL Rosters for instance).

Thanks for the replies re: underage leagues. I've finished with the major junior leagues and will do a first playtest shortly.
Nino, did you get the mail I sent you earlier this week? Apart from the updated staff lists, a lot of the younger prospects already in the DB need fixing.

Yes I have received it, but I haven't looked at it yet; I have some significant real life events going on currently that come to fruition this coming Thursday, and I plan on looking at it after that

I've now run half a dozen tests of the 92-93 season and everything's working reasonably well. The new teams end up at the bottom of the standings. There's a few NHL teams that need some boosting though.

However, even with player histories copied from the 98-99 DB (up to and including the 91-92 season) a lot of players who shouldn't still count as rookies. Joe Sakic for instance has got 321 NHL games but is still in the running for the Calder Trophy. What am I missing?

Sounds like a "Date of First Contract" issue
Are you selecting "Recalculate Runtime Data" when you import the database? If not, trying doing so and reimporting and see if that fixes things

"Recalculate Runtime Data" solved it, thanks! Any idea on why that was required?
And yes, an export of the staff list shows a lot of players with 1900-02-01 as the date of their first contract, despite them having histories added.

I don't know everything that "Recalculate Runtime Data" does, but one thing it does is it looks at player histories and gives them a Date of First Contract based on their history

Well the problem's solved and I think I'll celebrate by actually playing a season or two :-)

Haven't got to the 92 DB work yet (I've been focusing on 2016-17 TBL Roster work in recent days), but I think I'll be able to look at the 92 DB work this upcoming weekend...

Hi Anch

I've started looking at Staff today...I've finished going over the Boston Bruins and am almost done going over the Buffalo Sabres. It seems there are a number of players that still have their staff profiles, already 6 on the first couple teams, so they show up in the exported nonplayer file you sent me, but their Job For Club is listed as just Player.....and they're not always on the team they were playing for in 1992! So far it's Rick Allain, Mark Kumpel, Peter Ambroziak, Anthony Iob, Brad Pascall and Dan Bylsma.

Looking at Boston/Buffalo here's what I've got regarding Staff so far...
  • Make Mike Milbury an AGM (currently a GM) and put him on the Boston Bruins (currently a Free Agent)
  • Make Mike O'Connell a Head Coach (currently a GM) and put him on the Providence Bruins (currently a Free Agent)
  • Make Craig Ramsay of the Buffalo Sabres an AGM (currently a Coach)
  • Put Scout Don Barrie (DOB 14-June-1944) on the Buffalo Sabres (currently a Free Agent)
  • Put Scout Paul Merritt (DOB 7-August-1957) on the Buffalo Sabres (currently a Free Agent)
  • Put Scout Mike Racicot (DOB 7-September-1964) on the Buffalo Sabres (currently a Free Agent)
I've also got 3 Staff to be deleted, and 13 to be created

I'm also sending you a PM about the 1992 database.

Nino :-)

Excellent! Thanks!
Those six are either:
1. Stuff that was already in the DB and haven't been fixed.
2. A consequence of me being unsure how to handle players who historically will become staff.

I'm not authorized to reply to your PM. But here's a quick reply.
OTT and TBL have the rosters assigned to them in the 92 Expansion Draft, not 93 as I wrote last time around (my bad). Since that draft was in June of 1992, I don't see any reason to change that draft.

The future expansion teams: You mentioned immersion in your PM. IMO one of the biggest faults with the otherwise excellent 98-99 DB is how terrible CBJ, MIN and WPG are, which breaks the immersion for me. Making them teams filled with a hodgepodge of existing players is not historical, I admit, but to me it's less of a break from reality than teams who go 2-78-2 over a season. If we can come up with a different way in which to avoid that (fit their rosters with older fake players with a CA round 100-120?) then I'm happy to try that instead.

Major junior: Most of the players on the non-historical teams are fake, so not a lot of change is needed. Missing historical players are the ones who never did anything after major junior. Their exclusion is primarily because I wanted a playable new beta ASAP.

I'm not sure what you mean by "future players", but I think I agree.

Finally, I want historical accuracy too. Remember that I'm modifying a beta that I didn't create and haven't made all the modifications yet.

We can communicate by email :-) I think the way it works is you'll have "PM ability" after you have 35 posts

I took a look in the database (thanks for sending it to me!) and those 6 have only been partially edited...using the PreGame Editor to look at things, their "Job for Club" says "Player" but their Classification says "Player & Non-Player"

Their Classification should just be Player, and IIRC the EHM Updater can be used to remove the Non-Player Details and Non-Player Attributes from Players (using the Data Optimization feature)

I totally do understand!

Remember I'm trying to talk about an enormous amount/a multiple stage process without being completely overwhelming :-)

I'll be sending a further response to your email shortly...

Hello everyone

I just thought I'd note I'm stopped working on the 1992 database project and won't be returning to it.

I have gone through some significant personal challenges in the last few months, and reducing stress is something I'm working on, and because of the life changes I've undergone/am undergoing I think this project is just not something that's a good idea for me to be involved in anymore.

I've informed Anch, and apologized for any inconvenience, and wished him all the best in his efforts

Not a big deal, but I wanted to say so publicly as an "FYI"

Nino :-)

What is the latest release of this db? Is it the link in the first post?

Got your PM, Lumpjaw, but I thought it best to reply here :)

Progress is still ongoing, but it's pretty slow due to things like me getting a full-time job and having other things to do with my free time.
However, I'm hoping to have an 0.2 version finished sometime relatively soon. It should feature the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Major junior and the top two Swedish leagues.
There will still be loads of balancing, player additions, team modding and a lot else left to do, but the DB should be smaller and free of underage players cluttering the rosters.

Currently, there's Allsvenskan left to do, then at the very least removing the biggest mistakes from the NHL and Major Junior.
