He might be better fit than Eller but I don't know whether "intensity" is worth two 2nd rounders and 24m...

That's how it works now most of time! Give more than you should.

The Jackets signed Jones for 6 years and I think his salary will be near 5.5 per year. That's a pretty good deal IMO.

I think that's a GREAT deal, I was kinda expecting them to give him something closer to 7m/y but 5.5?! That's amazing for a player with his skills and potential IMO!

Just read that Edmonton traded Hall to New Jersey for Larsson one on one. I seriously wasn't expecting this one! Thought EDM would have prefered to get rid of Nugent-Hopkins or even Eberle first. At least they get a decent defensemen for the first time since I don't know when BUT I would have never traded Hall away like that.

I wonder if Hall is one if those "kids who won't listen" (and has a negative influence as a result), and thus there's more to his being traded than needing a D.....if that's not the case, I wouldn't have made the trade if I was the GM
On sportsnet the poll under the announcement shows (thus far) 88% are saying the Devils won the trade

Stamkos re-signs in TB.
Cats and Dogs living together! Drunken Finns going sober!
What is up with today? Weird moves all-around.

Maybe signed him to trade him? So Stamkos could get the extra contract year (8 year max with your current club, 7 years if you're a Free Agent)

Bob McKenzie is reporting a full NMC, so no, Stamkos is in TB to stay it seems.
Yzerman bought himself some months to figure out now how to keep Hedman and Kucherov still.
There's got to be a story there with Stamkos though. No way that this kind of signing happens now, and yet somehow not sooner. Why did it take so long? There was something else holding things up. I wonder if it was medical clearance?....

Bob McKenzie says Stamkos signed for 8 years at an average of $8.5 million (not the 10-14 million talked about all year!)

That's because IIRC that 8.5m is tax-free in Florida, so... that's competitive with 10m or 11m elsewhere that's taxed.

Maybe, I could see it.....I could also see it being that it took Stamkos and his agent that long to realize he won't be getting 10-14 million from anyone

Boy did the NHL blow up today.
IMO- Stamkos wanted to hear the pitches from other teams (That window opened Monday I think), and didn't hear anything he wanted to. Not a bad way to go- you get a chance to hear what the others are willing to promise and promote, and then make a choice. Scary precedent for future stars, but I don't blame him at all.
On the Weber Subban deal, sounds like Nashville just killed the franchise. I'm reading that if Weber retires before the 2025-26 season, Nasvhille is hit with a 24 MILLION cap penalty. I'm wondering if that's blogging gone wrong, but if so, I can't imagine why Nasvhille pulled the trigger. (
http://www.stanleycupofchowder.com/2016 ... ffer-Sheet)
I've also read that the Habs get the cap penalty for early retirement. That would determine who was the fool here...

Nino, I think too that there is a problem with Hall's attitude at some point. Especially since they only gave Larsson for him. If it really was the best offer he got, Hall's reputation wasn't that good around the league.
Subban/Weber trade cut off my legs. After the draft I mever thought the Habs would trade Subban. Even if I was thinking it was still a possibility. I think overall both team won something in that trade.
Montreal got a very good leader, more reliable defensively and definitely more mature. I think the worse part is Weber's contract which is too long. Since MTL has alot of youngs guys coming (thinking about Sergachev here) I think Weber is more appropriate as a "teacher" than Subban will ever be.
Nashville in exchange alongside Forsberg, Johensen and Josi now have a young, solid core to maybe win the Cup in a near futur. I just hope they can contain Subban enough and/or teach him how to be more mature. I also hope his salary will not be a problem in the futur.
Overall I think both team found what they were looking for.

Yeah, I've been reading some rumours today...a party hard kind of guy who didn't like community activities (I suspect he'll be fine in a community that doesn't follow hockey as closely, doesn't really care as much if they win, and won't look to Taylor Hall to lead them)
I think he's just like a lot of "young guns" nowadays, where the money has made it such that they're looking to get their points/money and it doesn't really matter (to most, not all) where they play or if they win (that's why more and more want out of Canada, to a US city with little to no hockey coverage, little to no hockey knowledge, and no real expectations to win; I think this plays a part in why Stamkos stayed in Tampa Bay)

Sounds just like Seguin. #1 and #2 in that draft seem to have a lot in common.
That being said, I still think the Devils won that deal.

now the Devils got new franchise face
great deal made by Shero..unbelievable blockbuster trade, 1-on-1 deal..
but Shero need to fill a hole in top RD to pair with Greene..I personally don't think that Seves is ready for that job..
hope Shero find some one in FA market..but the Cap space is getting low with a lot of player still got no contract..

Was surprised by the Hall and Subban trades
Read that Hall wasn't happy to be traded and that he wanted to stay at Edmonton.

Went to bed too early yesterday and missed everything that happened but I was taken back by these trades.. I think the Devils and Predators are winners in these trades, I can't believe the Habs actually traded Subban, especially by a one-for-one trade including.. Shea Weber.

Rumour is that Florida will give Ekblad 8 years contract with 7,5 millions per year.
