TSN is reporting that Garnet Exelby is being shipped out of Atlanta in the Kubina trade. Exelby leaves the Thrashers as the longest tenured member of the organization.

B is correct, but it also has to do with retirement clauses in the CBA. If a player signs a contract before the age 32 or 35 (can't remember which right now) and then retires before the contract expires, the team is off the hook for the cap hit. If a player signs a contract after that age and retires before it expires, the team is still on the hook for 1/2 the cap hit.Franck wrote:Why sign a 32-year-old on a 7-year deal though?
Would you take a contract job with a company that was in bankruptcy court? Plus with the ownership (and thus budgets) in question the front office probably have their hands tied.Qikdraw wrote:I'm noticing that the Coyotes are not anywhere on the board at all. Are they not looking for UFAs or trading at all, or is it that no one is willing to sign with them?
If you want an exemple of a bad trade, then check this one! Good job Wadell still the worst GM in the NHL.jbsnadb wrote:More details on the Kubina trade:
To Atlanta:
D Pavel Kubina
Rights to F Tim Stapleton
To Toronto:
D Garnet Exelby
F Colin Stuart
Would I sign with them? No. I was just more wondering if they are even tryng to land anyone or not.Hypnotist wrote:Would you take a contract job with a company that was in bankruptcy court? Plus with the ownership (and thus budgets) in question the front office probably have their hands tied.
At first glance, it doesn't appear that way. However, there is plenty of time left on the clock so to speak.Qikdraw wrote:Would I sign with them? The Coyotes signed Vernon Fiddler. But don't expect much else because they don't know if they have any moneyjbsnadb wrote:At first glance, it doesn't appear that way. Thats what i tought. In the east the game is less physical than the west so maybe Gaborik could be less injured. I always like Gaborik but is injuries always keep him away from the competition, now i'm excite yto see him in the east, we could watch it play more often.Lakrisal wrote:updated to 7.5 mil per year,
still... if Gaborik keeps healthy he's going to be an amazing player for the Rangers
There is a bigger chance of Jesus coming back to Earth in the next 3 years than there is of Gaborik playing a 80 game season.Lakrisal wrote:updated to 7.5 mil per year,

I think Begin will add some more toughness to the Bruins. It's a one year deal for short money, so I think it's a decent signing. They also re-signed Bitz. I'm just wondering what kind of money they're going to have left for re-signing Kessel and Hunwick.philou21 wrote:Hey Bruins72! What about got Begin with your team? It's about to confirm in the next min! Wow Komi to leafs and Begin with the Bruins! I think we gonna have an exciting 09-10 season.
This should be posted to "Lidas Rosters 2008/09 - Mistakes/Omissions/Tweaks/Etc" thread. Maybe Lidas will change it in 2009/2010 rostersbruins72 wrote:So can we re-name the Montreal Canadiens to The Lilliput Smurfs? They are going to be one of the smallest teams EVER!
Well, I haven't gotten that far yet in updating the roster, but I can start with the team name...McQwak wrote:This should be posted to "Lidas Rosters 2008/09 - Mistakes/Omissions/Tweaks/Etc" thread.
