Argh! Still can't make it work with anything but the generic roster.

try renaming the default db to whatever, and renaming the folder that contains the edited db to "database".

Another option - reinstall into a folder other than 'Program Files'. That should be a decent workaround.

Hmm. That said, now I can't get the option to load a different database at all (also in Windows 7). Hrmm.
EDIT: Silly me. When I installed it onto the new laptop, I forgot to install the patch as well. Doing that now.
EHM 2007 & Windows 7 Starter

So after my laptop caved (vista), I picked up a new netbook with windows 7 starter. One of the first things I've done after downloading firefox is picking up another copy of EHM 07.
I can play the trial version. I can install my new license, and play the licensed version. However I've not been able to install the 3.4 update (469) and play that.
The error I've received is:
mscvcr72.dll is missing from your computer.
I'll occasionally get this before updating the game, however the game still launches (and this doesn't appear afterwards - ie I can quit the game, and relaunch it without it appearing). However after I install the patch, I'll continuously get this error and the game will not launch.
Any idea's??

Have you tried doing a web search for that specific DLL? I'm running EHM on Win7 Starter and haven't encountered your error, but sometimes if I get an error like that from other software, I find I can just download the missing file.

I assume I don't have to install the patches one by one, and can go from 3.0.1 and directly install patch 3.0.4? I tried googling the dll file but it didn't come back with any results.
After the update/patch says it's installed the 201 files, and I click on exit, I immediately get a windows error saying the file didn't seem to install correctly. When I used the windows option to reinstall the file, I didn't get that error. However I'm still getting the msvcr71.dll file is missing.
EDIT; I see I typo'd the wrong dll. I've done some google seach's but am still coming up blank. Am pressed for time, so will look later today.

I re-download EHM on my new computer but still didn't re-buying it because I wait the answer of e-license concerning my license but the first time I installed it with the 3.0.4. it didn't work at all. Now I unistall it and install again without the patch and everything is fine.

If I'm just on the trial did the patch is really important?
Finally I can play EHM without it getting full screen like my latop. I really like that.

Yes the patch is equally as important with the trial version. Compared with the first version (v3.0.1) it fixes a whole host of bugs and introduces the important feature of being able to run multiple databases. Without v3.0.4 you won't be able to run any of the Lidas roster updates.
The only difference between the full version and the trial version is that there is a 6 month time limit with the trial. Other than that, there is no difference between them. Once you have upgraded to the full version, you will be able to continue playing the games you saved in the trial version beyond the six months.
P.s. congrats on your 2000th post

Hummm...With Windows7 (32), anybody got this?
It worked yesterday. But not working today. However, there was an windows update installation when I booted my PC today, so it MIGHTS explain.
(update : I tried to run patch 3.0.4, but the patch cannot detect an installation. Which MIGHT be the problem...)
(update 2 : Tried a fresh install, same problem)
(update 3 : NHL EHM 2005 actually WORKS....)

Nevermind... Let's just say that I caused my own misfortune (installed bad drivers).
This said -- after formatting, I cannot connect to the internet for my license. The page tells me I'm not online (while I clearly am). And license.net doesn't work.
Anybody has a clue?

Sorry for bringing this topic back but I just installed Windows 7 yesterday and I can't play EHM, I'm getting this error when I start the game...
I'm using the font "Corbel" that isn't included in Windows XP, does it have to do something with it?
Huge Thanks in advance to anyone who can resolve this problem, I already miss playing this game.

Cool, I managed to find out what was the problem.
All I had to do is copy the fonts I was using (Microsoft sans Serif, Tohama and Corbel) and paste them into Program Files\Sport Interactive\EHM 2007\Data\Font and Tadam, game works like a charm now..
*I wanted to edit my post above but I had to wait like 10 minutes.

Don't know if this may help anyone but I just got a new netbook with Windows 7 Starter and 1024 x 600 resolution. There are instructions on the internet on how to edit the Registry to trick the computer into thinking it has 1024 x 768, it changes the screen appearance a tad (smaller icons and text) but is still quite readable on a 10.1 screen.
There are warnings of the potential problems with messing with your registry, but it was a simple matter of changing a 0 to a 1 in 2 or 3 places.
I have a Toshiba netbook and it has worked fine, didn't crash anything ... so just in case anyone else was bummed out that you couldn't play the game ther is a potential way around it.
Again, there is a warning, but personally I can say it's worked for me and I'm 20 games into season without any issues.
The procedure will follow, and I hope it's not out of line to post it here, if so please let me know & I'll remove it right way, or a moderator can and still let me know:
Here’s a quick tweak i found on forums that will help you get better res for your standard 10 inch display.
First, i’ll have to tell you that you are going to get 1024 x 768 and 1152 x 864 px res available for the 10 inch display . These are not HD resolutions as you might have reckon and will translate in text skews and compressed displayed content. In most cases, the result won’t be that great, but hey, if you want the increased resolution, you should give these tweaks a try. And one more thing. This only works on Windows 7 equipped netbooks.
Here’s what you have to do:
1) Run regedit
1a) If you are not on higest tree level, go to him (by click on “Computer” from key tree)
2) Search and modify all values “Display1_DownScalingSupported” from “0″ to “1″
3) Restart the system
4) Enjoy the two new resolutions: 1024×768 px and 1152×864 px
Now, when selecting a resolution in Windows you’ll get the extra methods above. However, be aware that these tweaks might not work on all netbooks (it was tested by users on the 1000H, 1005He or the 1005HA Asus devices) and might cause software instability when changing between options.

Interesting! Thanks, Realpity. I'll have to give this a try when I have the chance. I hope it works for XP.

Not sure, it says it's specifically for Windows 7.
There's some more indepth directions to get into REGEDIT if needed.

Now I'm looking for some more help if anyone can ... on my Windows 7 laptop I installed the game, got the message that I was missing the .dll, downloaded that, installed the game again and it worked, fixed the resolution issue and all was well in the world.
But then I wanted the updates. 3.02 went on fine, but when I tried 3.04 it says I was missing th .dll again (same one) and there it was right in front of me.
Anyone else come across this and know of a fix ?
I'd hate to not be able to load the Lidas databases !!!
